Too Strong for Commander Cube!

  • These are the cards that I've chosen not to include or removed from my Commander cube, generally for being too strong or game warping and detailed reasons for their exclusion. I also recommend considering most of these cards carefully for commander play in general.
For reference, my commander cube list: cubecobra.com/...

I miss casual commander where most of these cards weren't played

How do you feel about the elementals from Mh2 (Fury, Endurance, Solitude, etc.)?
I enjoy the concept of removing all shuffling in general from my cube. I also think egregious mana generation in green is good - Circle of Dreams druid is the biggest contender that I’m still running, but I don’t mind since the color restriction is enough to keep it from being too ubiquitous.
That said, I think having some free interaction is okay since there isn’t any free mana generation. What do you think of that concept?

Any recommendations on lower power archetypes for 2 color pairs? I'm planning on making a commander cube and didn't want to go the usual route for some color pairs. For example, instead of going aristocrats for orzhov, I'm thinking about dungeons/initiative.

Interesting that Cultivate and Mox Amber have to go but Birds of Paradise gets to stay. Certainly all the green decks are interested, there's nothing novel about it, and you end up a turn ahead with little investment or risk. Is exposing yourself to sweepers the thing that keeps it in, or something else?

Yeah, temporary rather than permanent mana advantage is a big deal, and I do want green to have access to extra mana, I just want it at a low density--keeping to only 1 mana ramp creatures that tap for any color helps with green's "good at fixing" plus ramp, plus creature focus, while making it hard for someone to have more than 2 cards like that in their deck, meaning they're rarely ahead by more than 1 mana early.

I think Amber's not too scary on power level, since it doesn't give extra mana on turn 1 to many decks, and I could see adding it, but I'm worried it's a little too universal

Another upside of having creature ramp over land searching is having fewer shuffle effects, which benefits the pace of play

32:00 spot on, that cycle is just not how cards should be made. Should be banned imo because of their stupidity.

if only people played more interaction rather than get mad at a solitaire card thats faster or better than their solitaire card.

I've been telling my group to play more removal forever.
They never listened, till I made a enchantment deck.
