Beautiful tribute to the miracle that was John Prine. May his music live forever. Please share the joy that my life mentor shared with me and turn on your friends to John Prine. I was a late comer and was planning to see him this summer. I will forever have a gap in my soul’s experience for having missed it. Much like my heart aches for missing Tom Petty’s last tour, as I was almost a yearly regular for that. These guys can’t be replaced and there’s precious little filling the gap. Hope to see Bromberg, Willie, and a few others before it’s too late!
This is a beautiful song. Been a long time fan of both David Bromberg and John Prine. I never had the pleasure of seeing David in concert. I did have the pleasure of seeing John Prine in concert many times over the years, mostly from early 80s through the late 90s. Most of the time when I saw John Prine it was at small bars, small theaters and one time at a college theater. Arlo Guthrie was the headliner. John played first. As I had been accustomed to singing along with all of John's songs, nobody else in the theater was singing along because they just didn't know who he was! Lots of golf claps after every song. Intermission was a glass of wine or a glass of beer. I had a feeling most of the people who were at the college performance were trying to "expand their musical horizons!" Still enjoyable anyway, even if I was the only one singing along with all of John's songs! (Got a lot of snide looks, but who cares). Will certainly miss John and his musical/lyrics genius. Just glad that David is back on tour after a decade or so of not touring. Hope to see him in concert sometime in the future.
Great, just discover David!! Hate that I was so late , understand David has retired now.Glad for all these super recordings!
I love you David!
Lovely. Just lovely. I’ve been listening to David for nearly 50 years and I never tire of it. So glad he’s still healthy and performing for us.
This is just lovely!
love the Greenbrier Boys version too!
Beautiful beyond words! David Bromberg comes from Scarlet Town through the foggy ruins of mystery.
