Hello Eclectic. You do have a voice for radio. The word eclectic truly represents who you are. Your range of topics and especially your interests and your dissertation on subjects is quite incredible.................especially for an American. Please don't be offended by the 'American' bit. let's face it. There aren't many Americans that I know of or who I've met in Europe who know half the things you've voluntarily delved into and have had the time and inclination to promote and appreciate. There are other cultures around the world, and you've had the decency and foresight to acknowledge them and promote them. A lot of Americans in my experience, generally don't know or care what's happening in the next parish, never mind the next country. You Sir are a breath of fresh American air which I never thought existed in the 2000's. Under McCarthy you'd have been 'Tapped' and monitored. Thankfully he's long dead, and the notion of an American looking beyond his / her borders while promoting foreign points of view has reached beyond their reach and as long as you're not fomenting revolution or any form of radicalism........................under their rules and shifting definitions...................you're now allowed to promote American's looking beyond the confines of the cage of filthy lucre and being 'A Winner' ! Love your show, especially your intellectual appreciation of Still Game and Open all hours. Your list is endless, but these titles stand out. Keep it up. I watch you regularly and laugh even harder when I see you laugh uncontrollably at stuff I've grown up with and am reminded how lucky I was growing up in an era when comedy was no more dangerous than........comedy ! Greetings from Dublin, Ireland..........not Texas !! Regards Ian Davis.
The Navid examination is hilarious. Reminds me of a story my mate told when of he was in hospital a few years back and the nurse had to give him a (fairly large) suppository, understandably he wasn't too keen on the idea but it was over fairly quickly and without the anticipated discomfort, once she'd popped it in she apparently leaned in and whispered in his ear "don't say i'm not good to you" 😂😂
Still Game is one of (if not the best) British sit-coms ever. Amazing writing, great acting and characterisations. I somehow enjoy the poignant moments the best, they give the comedy, which is fantastic, a framework and foundation. I love all the episodes, especially 'Hyper' which is coming up. The final episode I believe will have you in tears, the ending is quite simply, incredible and beautiful.
@krisyflynt9211 agreed they should have stopped when they original stopped. Season 6 I think. Can't remember if they stopped before that but the last 3 sessions when they came back in HD weren't great. Same jokes used over and over, and the plots of the episodes ended up bizarre rather than the old way of being some what realistic and to a point heart warming. The equivalent of the Simpsons downfall. Which is a shame because they really made something amazing in the first 6 seasons.
Yeah, this is from one of the dvd releases where they were all edited because they didnt gave clearance to release them on the dvd. Music copyright reasons. Basically the BBC couldnt be arsed to pay out for them. They did the same with the theme tune for still game aswell. There was a different theme song on some of them. Its the same with a movie called coast to coast. It was a BBC movie from the 80s and starred lenny henry and the guy who played lex luthor in the 90s. The film centred around 1960s soul music, and theres loads on it. But the film was only made for tv, so the bvc didnt pay gor any future release rights, which would have been around £20k at the t8me, do they said no. It turned out that despite lenny henry being in it, it was an amazing film, and it should of had a cinema release. But it hasnt been on tv since 1987, and cant be released because they didnt want to pay out for music rights, also because they thought it was only goid enough for tv, they didnt pay out for future release righrs for the cast because that would have required them signing on for more wages if it was released. So, a really good movie wont ever be released because the BBC is tight fisted with our money, unless its or paying millions of OUR money for the same logo that theyve been using for 25+ years! The new logo is no f*****g different, the cheeky bastards. I want a refund! But yeah, the BBC make some amazing tv, but they dont have any respect for the things they make. They deleted thousands of episodes of comedy shows, doctor who, other 50s, 60s and 70s stuff. No respect at all. Just in case anyone wants to watch that lenny henry movie, search for 'coast to coast 1987 lenny henry' on UA-cam and it's there. Luckily someone recorded it on a betamax tape when it aired and they converted t and you can watch it on UA-cam. Its of decent watchable quality and well worth a view.
I love how this show has these little moments where it shows how much the community cares for each other. I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but a lot of other reactors have had problems uploading to UA-cam because of copyright once they get to about series 7
The radio stations in Glasgow's hospitals are usually called radio lollipop, well last time i checked anyway. Although i think that may have only been in the children's hospital.
@@DJDonnelly Aye that's were i remember it from, Yorkhills gone now, well the kids hospital part, think it moved to Queen Elizebeth hospital now i think and radio lollipop still there.
One of the best things when they do introduce a new character. They reappear. Like Barbras sister/ the bar man that auditioned for the quiz/ the chav mum.
Also some actors reappear as different characters ... Sheathing the Undertaker appeared in the episode in which Winston got his new leg as the doctor. And also the jockey of "Captain Dandy" also played the part of the B&B owner when Jack and Victor went to find Winston in Finport
Something that has been pointed out before is that the writers Ford and Kieran wrote some excellent jokes and funny lines which they then gave to other characters. Even some small characters who only have one line. Instead of keeping the best lines and jokes for their own characters that they play. I think that’s what makes the show so good and gives it great depth. There isn’t just 2 really funny characters and then everyone else. Every character is funny in their own way.
That's such a good point, it makes it more of a lively world instead of two funny men in a world full of NPCs, it feels like everyone has their own place and personality, even the background characters feel alive and real and I don't feel that with all that many shows, Only Fools and Horses is another good example of that.
I first watched this episode on UA-cam over ten years ago. At the time, when the song played halfway through, Warner Bros had made sure another song played over the track of the programme so nothing could be heard including speech. I first heard the full correct soundtrack when watching this on the YT Squirrel Channel last year.
Also you two never listened to a hospital radio? Ever? Or have you not been im hospital for more than say a week because they obviously exist to eliminate the boredom in my case of waiting for my gunshot to heal when I was 17 lol. But yes you can request headphones that tune into the radio if that hospital has one and listen in.
