This is a stereogram animation to, in my opinion, one of the creepiest show intros ever. I played with facial animation in this one.
The monologue:
There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat, there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... The Outer Limits.
Never seen a stereogram before? The goal is to unfocus your eyes and look through the screen, until the repeating pattern merges and you see the 3D image.
Three tips that might help to look through the screen:
1) Try focusing on the wall behind and above your computer screen, then keep your eyes focused at that distance but move them down so that you are looking through the screen.
2) If you have a CRT monitor, try focusing on the reflections in the screen.
3) Start up close to the screen, unfocus your eyes so you're looking through the screen, and slowly back away. - Фільми й анімація
You're giving the youtube compression system a real hard time lol
I'm glad you liked it! :)
Wow! My 1st time with a computer screen. Thank You!
Thanks! I agree that it's a trippy illusion -- and that partially inspired me to make this animation. I thought the black-and-white, kind of hard to see, and kind of creepy style fits with the flavor of the show.
Neat effect but you have the vertical and horizontal reversed...................
one person has something wrong with their television set
Such a pity, at 240p there is no chance you will see "ant races" or "snow" as perfectly displayed in the old defunct analog TV system on a 4:3 monochrome crt picture tube screen. It's impossible even at very high resolution in an digital video environment as well! So often video creators call for the effect but it just is never the same as the original!
I don't know why, but I have always seen the Stereogram from the inside out, as if I am inside looking out. It never appeared to be 3d outward to me. currious isn't it? It's like looking into the image in 3d or a hole or impression, but not out towards me in 3d .
Starts off looking like a strawberry getting bigger and smaller, then changes shape a bit, then disappears, and finally the words "THE OUTER LIMITS"
I can detect where it is "deeper" and the way it "moves" but it's a bit hard to see what it represents -but I saw very well the "explosion". Do I need to train ? (sorry for my english) Anyway whoever did that it is a great job !
With the compression, this video is almost useless. After 14 years, you should get rid of it.
@spellbinder00 -- Hmmm... it sounds like you're using the crosseye method to see stereograms, which would make these (and other parallel stereograms) appear inside out. If this is the case, try using the parallel method. Hopefully the two viewing tips I included in the video description will help.
Either way, you might want to check out UA-cam user xyoureyes. He has a bunch of crosseye stereogram animations.
@andros1984 -- I don't know why there aren't more... maybe not enough people can view them? Sad thought. I made these by making a greyscale depth map animation with Art of Illusion (but any 3D software package should be able to render as a depth map). Then I imported the depth map animation to 3DMiracle and turned it into a video. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
@Jaclynxmariex3 -- Thanks for the comment! Did you try the tips in the video description? My dad has the best luck by starting up close to the screen then slowly backing away while keeping his eyes unfocused. He pauses the video until he can see the stereogram, then clicks play.
@Gielinorian -- No, it's a hidden image stereogram. Check the video description for tips on viewing stereograms. If this is your first time trying to see stereograms, I'd recommend starting with still image stereograms. Just do a Google image search for stereogram and you'll find plenty. Good luck!
@chewylikesit -- Hmmm... did you try the 3 viewing tips in the video description? Also, if you are new to viewing stereograms, you might want to start with still image stereograms, as they are much easier to focus on. I like the gallery at hidden-3d(DOT)com/stereogram_gallery.php
@TheMrBlinx -- In the video description, I put a few tips that might help to see stereograms. Do they help? If this is your first attempt to see stereograms, I'd suggest starting with still image stereograms, as they are easier. A nice gallery is at hidden-3d(DOT)com/stereogram_gallery.php
@StickItMaster -- Yes, that's basically what it is. It's an alien head, but he looks kind of like an Eastern Island face combined with a talking strawberry. He does have two eyes, but they're small and look kind of like a mask. Thanks for watching!
@11m4357r0 -- Thanks for the comments! :) I've only seen one guy make colored stereograms, but they are very impressive. Do a Google image search for "3dimka pink panther" (without the quotes) to see my favorite one.
@Sylphadora -- I'm glad you liked the animation! You don't hear the narrator with this video? Do you hear any sound, or is this just a silent video? There might have been a UA-cam error, but I hope it's corrected now.
@matthew11174 -- Ha ha, thanks for the comment and sub! :) I know what you mean... I have yet to come across a creepier show intro.
@spellbinder00 ThePhantomChick is right. It happens because you are using the cross-eyed method. You're crossing your eyes in front of the screen, and you have to look through the screen and cross them behind it. In the beginning I could only see stereograms with the cross-eyed method, too. In my first stereogram book they didn't explain that there were two viewing methods, and it wasn't until I got more books that I learnt how to use the parallel method.
@vectorNINEvector -- Bummer. :( Have you tried to see still image stereograms? They're easier to start with.
wait was that suppost to be a floating head? it creeps me out
@yourleaderDrChaos - Cool, I'm glad you could see it! Welcome to the club of stereogram viewers. :)
How have You managed to get a Vertical Line when the Voice says, "We will control the Horizontal", and a Horizontal Line when the Voice says, "We will control the Vertical"?
Ha ha, yeah... this one definitely needs sound. Thanks for the nice comments and the subscribe!
could it be bad depth perception or something else but i cant see anything other than the fuz you see when a channel goes out on your tv
The vertical line was horizontal and vice-versa...
Yes, good spotting! Thanks for subscribing. I'm glad you like these videos! :)
he goes vertical when he says horizontal and horizontal when he says vertical
@EvilWeevil9 -- Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you could see it! :)
@Tangent128 -- I'm glad you could see it! Thanks for the comment. :)
@SporkingToast -- I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for the comment. :)
@ThePhantomChick Thank you for the tips :-)
@KingCkcot -- Thank you, I'm glad you like (and can see) them! :)
@SuperLuigiGalaxy242 -- Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! :)
Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you could see this one. :)
the floating head called my computer monitor a television set, dudes trippin!
that was the first stereogram for me, that actually worked!
i didnt understand wat was happening until i turned the sound back on lol
The Phantom Chick, I have to wholeheartedly agree with you about this being one of the creepiest intros of all time. I did a remake animation on my page, yet somehow just seeing white noise makes this even more terrifying!
@ZomBEEandJesus -- Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :)
@dezzolution -- Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! :)
@SMNH89 -- Thank you, I'm glad you could see it! :)
Stupid ads, ruining the illusion.
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you liked it! :)
Is the talking head an alien or sth?? Kinda cool. Real trailer~
Thanks for commenting! I'm glad you liked it! :)
i saw it on full screen 22'' its awesome :D
thats easier to see than the others, i´d love it : )
Anyone! can you tell me the drum and bass track with the sample 'we will control all that you see and hear' ? I heard it around 1993 i think. nice one
Hahah, it's even lipsynced, isn't it?
I saw a Dorito
cool
WHAT IF EVERY TIME TV TURNS LIKE THAT, WE COULD SEE SECRET MESSAGES?
Nah, it's just cosmic radiation picked up by our aerial antenna.
I've never been able to see these images. I've tried for years with posters and books and tried every method. I wish I could see.
@SOWHATIMADEIT -- Thank you! :)
That is really, really cool!
@ibcrazysumtimes -- Ha ha! :P
excellent choice for the audio:)
damn my head hurts!
Worst resolution ever!
240p?!
That is truly amazing
That was fun. :)
The original Outer Limits intro handled it better by starting with just a white dot, and for controlling the horizontal it changed its horizontal width to grow into a horizontal line. I guess it would have made more sense for me to copy that, and have him grow horizontally rather than shrink. Thanks for watching these, and commenting! :)
Yeah, that part is a bit confusing... I made him shrink horizontally (to become a vertical line) to show his control over the horizontal, and vice-versa.

whow! nice
way cool
It's an alien. Some other folks have said it looks like a talking strawberry. I guess they're right. Thanks for watching, and the nice comments! :)
Right
nice!
@locouk --Thanks for watching & commenting! :)
I wasn't sure of the best way to do the horizontal and vertical bits. I think either way would be a little confusing.
The other way would demonstrate horizontal and vertical lines, but I decided on the way I did it, because I think it is better at showing his *control* over the horizontal/vertical since he is able to scale himself accordingly.
Thanks again for watching!

...and, I probably went into way too much detail in this comment. Thanks again for watching!
Cool
Thanks for the nice comments! The "There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture" line was the inspiration for this one. :)
he heeheeee that's freaking awesome. Wish there were more of these, I could watch them all day. I've always been able to see these things within seconds, my fiance gets so pissed cause he stares and stares and can't see it.
Thanks for the animation, ThePhantomChick!! ;-) It would be cool if you could add the voice of the narrator to have the explanations going along with the images =D
That was so cool, I wish you still did these
The way it's always worked really quickly for me is, you know how you get that feeling, when you just stare at something, you're kind of zoned out, just staring? You're not "trying" to stare, it's looking at something but not really looking at it to look at it...just a tired stare...then it just happens.
Why aren't there more of these? How are they made?
I'm a visual effect artist and totally confused. They're so neat.
Strange... this is actually easier to focus on than most stereograms I've seen.
These are so much easier to watch than the "cross your eyes" videos.
ANYONE ELSE SEE THE " THE OUTER LIMITS" LITERALLY SPELLED IN THE VIDEO!!!
That was one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen! Thanks a lot.
That was the coolest most coolest stereogram I've ever seen.
that was awesome. great work!
this is amazing.... i enjoyed this alot!
Impressive work here!
