This album was a game changer. Converge was already a pretty big and influential band in the hardcore scene before this album, but Jane Doe was like a totally new approach. It opened up new doors for hardcore, much in the same way as Dillinger Escape Plan's Calculating Infinity. I remember being so hyped for this album when it came out. It was an instant classic, and it's really stood the test of time.
Annotations and Errors: At the start of the video I say that Jane Doe is top 5 records, but I should specify that it is top 5 heavy records released since the year 2000 . I call one of the early Converge records as "Caring and Weeping" when the real title is "Caring and Killing" . I mention that Jacob Bannon did the cover for "The Poacher Diaries". Though the concept and design is Jacob Bannon's, the illustration itself was drawn by Derek Hess. Here's his Website: derekhess.com Caleb Scofield was not only in Old Man Gloom but also in the band Cave In .
Glad this series is back! Converge is a hard band to get into because of how abrasive their sound can be especially from the vocals and I love it wish more metal bands did it as well as these guys

Glad you're doing this series more consistently again. This is easily one of the better albums of the 2000s.
