I absolutely know that feeling "I need a dog". When my husband and I rented our apartment to live separately from parents I was like "We need a dog! Now!" Home is not home without a pup

Chris, I was happy when you said you aren’t thinking of adding a pup to your home. Nala is so special and she adores you. Perhaps when she is much older and not able to go on the hikes with you, an addition to the family would work. Your relationship and activities with Nala brings joy to everyone who sees her. I got a puppy for my 8 year old Labrador. Three years have passed, and though they can act like best friends, they’re also somewhat jealous and `argue’ about who gets to sit next to me.
I think Chris should wait, or even foster a dog once in a while. He and Nala have a special bond.
My dog Indigo is not 6 years old. I got a lab mix puppy a few weeks ago. They play so much and have such a good time. olive does bite a bit. Indigo finally nipped her to stop her biting. I love Nala!!
@@SuziQ. Just my opinion but I think he should wait too. Nala is such a special girl and it would be hard if Chris got another dog while she's alive. A new puppy would take time away from an aging Nala; too sad for me to even consider.

I don’t consider 6 as aging; they’re in their prime. My pfp Lab will be 12 in exactly a week, and can still swim for hours if I let her. Our last Golden made it to 16.
Addit: I agree, though. They’re a bonded pair, and a third would mess it up for Nals.
Chris and Nala are one of my favs. I love their relationship. Nala is a sweetheart! The stomps, the flops and the smushed are priceless! Have yet to see Nala do the stomps with anyone other than Chris. Excellent interview Matt.
Chris don't change a thing Tata you may not have forever but you have right now dot dot enjoy it while you can.. I'm homebound broke my foot scrolling through the videos because I'm an animal lover just like you.. just had to put my cat down after 17 years the day after Thanksgiving so having to do that and also the trial of a broken foot what's much more grief than I could handle.. so I first found your video the one where you said that this was the largest tent that you thought you could buy in the first time I watched it brought me so much joy I think I washed his six times back to back it made me happy it took away my sadness to watch you and your dog . No Chris don't change anything Tata I love your attitude you're such a happy person the world needs more of that.. the Bible says you can tell a lot about a man and how he treats his animals I believe it speaks of your character.. Nala is such an amazing puppers. I have a Golden Retriever, my buddy “Wrigley” tiurned 12 this year on April 11th. For anyone whose life has never been blessed with a Golden Retriever there are no words that could remotely describe the joy and unconditional love they bring into your life. There is just something about this breed that is so special. The bond they form with you is so incredible It’s easy to forget they are a dog and not human. I’m 68 years old and live alone, Wrigley is my companion in every sense of the word. He knows when I’m having a rough day, He knows when I’m sick, he knows when I’m happy but best of all he knows when I just need to know that there’s someone out there that loves me unconditionally for just being me. It’s that wag of the tail, a long loving look, a paw on your hand or knee, but best of all is when they hop up next to you and lay their head across your lap or chest. All I can say is Lord thank you for creating such an incredible and amazing companion for humankind you’ve truly blessed all of us who’ve had a dog in our life. I live watching you and Nala, her little stomp is just precious. I really enjoy watching all your posts they brighten my day and always put a smile”e in my face.

Thanks so much, Chris, for this wonderful video expose' ! Your abiding love and commitment for your canine partner bring tears of joy and wonder to my eyes. Once, I had my own "kindred spirit', named Phinneus (name taken from the book - "A Separate Peace") a German Shepherd Dog who would go to the (veterinary) clinic where I practiced every day and lay under my desk when I was meeting owners, as well as later on at the in-patient addictions treatment center where I worked as a crisis counselor. Phinney was the greatest 'therapeutic factor' in the entire agency, and we were together throughout each day. I have such joy and gratitude for having been fellow rovers hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire during those enchanted days; best friends always. He bouyied my spirits when I was down and shared in the joys of adventuring the out-of-doors.
Your own adventures cause me to reflect on those priceless times together in the 1990's. I see that you have the same connection to your beloved as did I. I am so pleased to know you have decided to "seize the day" (carpe diem) and spend quality time together; the time as you well know, is all too short. Wishing the two of you all the best in every way! Ave', Nala! (wondering if you might do a segment about how you are able to take care of Nala needs on you adventures: parasites, especially ticks (which as you know, are fast becoming a very serious problem in the US), food; shelter; formal training if any, injury management; important factors to consider when going out into the wilderness - wild animals (or people); hypothermia, etc; .....if you have to go away on trip - do you have friends who can keep her?
We love you both! Nala is so pure and her owner is the most chilled person. We’re addicted to watching the purest pair of besties. Thanks for doing this, it brings us all so much joy!❤

Great interview! The one question I would've loved to hear is why he chose a Golden Retriever. It feels like a lot of Golden owners have vastly different answers and I'd love to hear his answer.
