Ohhh my goodness!!!! It broke my heart!!!!I just wanted to throw my arms around him and warm him up. Take him in the barn wrap him in a blanket and rub him down🥹. Thank God all went well. 💞💗💝. Lots of love from Texas!!!!!
In this country the "horse standard" seems not to be as for example in my country (Germany). The horse has been lying several hours on the cold ground, therefore it should have been warmed up very quickly and 100 %. If it was my horse I would have put it into the stable (box), dry the wet fur and afterwards give it a warm horse-blanket. In addition I would clean the paddock more often - all the food should be given in cribs (mangers) in order to stop the spreading of the worms and because the horses don't want to eat food which tastes of their own "apples" (manure). I suppose that there were more attempts of the horse to get on its feet because there was a break at 4:48 - obviously the men didn't want to show us that there were more than four useless attempts (efforts) before the horse could stand properly. What about removing the snow and spread any stuff which normally is used on pavements in winter?
The set up I see here isn't what I'm used here in the U.S. My horses have always been stabled at night in the winter (and fed/watered in wall buckets in the stalls, with hay in a wall feeder). Access to turnout in the morning after they are fed breakfast is pasture, not paved or concrete areas. In the summer, due to the heat, horses are stabled during the day and turned out in pasture during at night. Regardless the season, they are fed breakfast and dinner in buckets and a wall feeder in their stables. I'm not implying this family has done anything wrong in their set up, but it isn't what I would provide for my horses. One thing that stood out for me was the position of the metal ground feeder...it should've been situated so that there was LOTS of room around it so the horse could move freely and not get stuck. I'm pleased they were able to get the horse up, but like you, I would put him in a warm stable, get him dry, and put a winter horse blanket on him.
I absolutely agree with you 💯%! The horse should've 💯% been dried off & than blanketed & put in a stall...... I am glad that they rescued they horse w/o major injury 👍.

My horses stay outside year round, I don't put blankets on them they run in a herd of 2-6 head and all they have for shelter is a 3 sided barn. They have access to pasture or round bales of beardless wheat hay year round. They are healthy and rarely have any issues. They are treated like livestock not house pets. When we need to gather cattle and travel 5-6 miles at a time they are fit and able to do their jobs.

Some people just don’t realize how to take care of animals. It would be prudent for to ask for advice from people in the know. They’re everywhere.
Horses can stand the cold and don't need to be in a stall all the time as long as they are a healthy weight and have access to feed and water. Unless there is a massive blizzard
