Trey Lance has the best size athleticism and he played under center more than any of the other
Nfl players barely play under center now,.. I feel you though. And transitioning from under center to shotgun isn’t that big of a deal. Actually, it’s barely an inconvenience

You clearly only watched highlights and not his full games. Pull up a few of those on UA-cam. He does not have great accuracy. In fact, his accuracy is a real problem that has to be corrected and I hope they can. Watch his games. He routinely missed badly on a lot of throws.

Are these guys stupid??? Its a WIN/WIN for the Niners. If Jimmy G stays healthy, we already seen he can get this team to the Super Bowl which gives Trey time to learn. If Jimmy gets hurt, Trey plays with little to no pressure because he's perceived as "not ready" so he's playing with house money.

The only correct thing Acho said was the Packers made a mistake drafting Jordan Love but other than that he's dead wrong. Trey Lance doesn't have to be Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers to get to the Superbowl. The 49ners got to the Super Bowl with Jimmy G being a great game manager behind a good running game and a great defense. Trey Lance just needs to develop into at least that. Even if Jimmy G does ball out next season, that just means that he'll haul you in better draft picks. I honestly feel they could have gone with either 3 qbs left and not be in a bad position.
I’m a Niners fan. I agree when Jimmy G is locked in, the team wins. But the thing with Jimmy G is just that. He isn’t always locked in or healthy. I believe Shanahan is mimicking the formula that Andy Reid had done with Alex Smith/Patrick Mahomes. Smith was winning games. But in the end, after a few months.. Mahomes was ready to take over. It might take a bit longer for Lance to eventually get the starting job. But it’s his job as long as he really wants to learn from Shanahan, coaching staff, etc.
If Jimmy does well then trade him like what the Chiefs did with Smith, I don’t think Lance will be a backup for 2-3 years because Jimmy G will either get injured again or play well but get traded for draft picks to help build around Lance

Acho had so many bad points. Green Bay doesn’t regret Jordan Love because of the Rodgers situation. Also, he kept saying QBs who impacted instantly. Only Herbert and Burrow he named was instantly balling. Rodgers, Mahomes, and Lamar all started on the bench before they got their opportunity

Gotta love how 2 of the 4 young QBs acho pointed out sat (or were supposed to sit). Patty sat 15 games. Herb was going to sit at least 4 or 5 but we all know what happened Tyrod. Letting young, physically gifted but raw qbs sit and learn is the wave.
49ers playing chess while everyone is playing checkers! Lance will improve and allow shanahan (the best offensive mind right now) to evolve his play call style. Mac Jones wouldn't allow him to do that. QBs who were a backup first: mahomes for Alex Smith! Rodgers for Favre! Brady for bledsoe! This is the way to go.
Ps if Jimmy G plays well they can get a first for him if they trade him.
Kyle shanahan really hasn’t ever had a qb as dynamic with a ceiling as high as trey lance. The only guy that comes close is RGIII, but Lance’s future looks even brighter than that.

The funny thing is, no one knows (yet) if Trey Lance can play right away. For all of the talk about how short his college career was, people also leave out that he still took the most snaps under center (by far) out of all of the QBs drafted in the first round. He also ran a “pro style” offense and was asked to do more at the LOS than most of the other prospects. Not only that but according to reports he’s one of the smartest QBs in the draft. All of this tells me that he might not need to sit for a year in order to be successful.
Acho saying that San Fran situation is the same as Green Bay doesn't even make sense.
Acho is out of his mind on this one, but these guys have become the best sports debaters in business in my opinion. I like the mix of the millenial brotha with the old skool dude. Don't really care what media ratings are and don't care what other "experts" have to say about it. Proud of them for becoming #1 in my book and my book is as good as anybody's.
How can you guys have this whole conversation and not point out the parallel between the 49ers and the Chiefs when they drafted Mahomes to sit behind Alex Smith for a year? It worked out for the Chiefs.

Acho, I think you mean GB "should" regret drafting Love ... because they don't. If they did, they would have more aggressively sought to appease the desires of Aaron Rodgers since, but everything they have done has only exacerbated the situation. GB is in a mess of their own doing, but are too self-important to recognize what they have done.

Did Acho just compare Rodger's situation to Jimmy G's with Love and Lance??!! Two completely different situations. Jimmy G has only played like 30 games in four seasons with the Niners due to injuries. Rodgers has been pretty healthy the last four seasons. Jimmy G's play on the field is only part of the situation. The other part is that he's injury prone so he doesn't make it on the field. Let's say he does ball out and Lance flames out. Then the Niners stick with Jimmy and cut their losses with Lance. If the opposite occurs they go with Lance and trade Jimmy. It's kind of a win win except they gave up two 1st round picks for Lance which I agree hurts if he flames out.
trey lance will start next year, he needs this year to develop right now. 49ers shouldn't be in any rush to start lance under any circumstance unless Jimmy G just is flat out not getting it done during the year.

Crazy he’s telling 49er fans how they should feel. First off If jimmy stays healthy a full season it would be a miracle. Also trey has a wayyyy higher ceiling than jimmy. Stronger arm, faster, higher score in the wonderlic test & isn’t made out of glass. Not to mention once we get rid of jimmy we have a starting QB on a rookie contract which gives you flexibility in resigning our guys & bringing in guys through free agrency. Pat Mcafee is legitimately a better sports reporter than any of these clowns and he’s not even trying

Comparison is the thief of joy, yes. UNLESS, it is a zero sum game.
If you think about it both of them are right. Short term Lance on the bench isn’t that good. But then long term Lance is gonna be really good.
Using Acho's logic non of the 2021 QBs are ready. I think all of these QBs are projects. IMO the Steeler's Big Ben did better than any NFL rookie QB & the coaches kept him on a tight leash. Wilson played well for Seattle but the Steelers went to the AFL playoffs with Big Ben.
I like how Acho starts with Mahommes as an example who sat for a year. Then follows up with Jackson who sat for half a year. And even adds in Aaron Rodgers as an example of regret, Aaron Rodgers sat for, ::checks notes:: three years.
They traded picks for mahomes and he sat for a year. Also, Love was not a prospect like Lance.
School doesn’t seem to know how old Trey Lance is. Younger than all those dudes he named. And Jimmy is no Rodgers. Plus are we forgetting about Rodgers, Mahomes, Jimmy G, Tom Brady all sat at least a year before they started.
You know who else prepared? Stidham. He came from a big program and landed in the best training ground in the NFL and guess what? He can't play. Preparing is nice, but Trey needs to play as soon as possible to prove he can play. Hope he can, and he sure looks athletic enough to do the job, but this may come back to bite SF if he can't. Jimmy G. should ball out and then tell SF, good luck, just like Rogers told GB. We will see who regrets it then.

Niners took the guy with the highest ceiling which is what you should do. It's all you can do. The team and trey will try and give themselves the best opportunity to succeed and that's all you can ask for.
I see both sides of the debate.. however, jimmy g has to go, not because hes good or bad... but due that next year is contract years for nick bosa fred Warner and like 5 other guys... cant afford them if they keep jimmy g when you can get a good replacement on his rookie deal for 4 years

I think Deshaun is better than Mitch...but....25-22 the last 3 years (not as good as Mitch). If I'm the Bears, I stick with Dalton (since they picked him up) and get help, elsewhere. OL would be good.

Aaron Rodgers is a GOAT candidate that got disrespected by an organization that didn’t believe in his ability to keep it going. Jimmy G is a fragile, limited and overpaid product of Kyle’s system. The situations are NOT similar at all.
