Hey y'all, couple things: 1. The overall goal in this video is to emphasize the fact that you should be equipping the drift tuning last. I wanted to go through every upgrade you have access to before equipping the drift tuning in order so it was easy to understand, but technically some of those upgrades can still be applied after the drift tuning and it won't affect anything (i.e. visual upgrades, suspension, wheels, etc.). I just don't want people to think that they have to spend $250K removing and re-applying the drift tuning just to change out a set of wheels or add a new bumper - doing power upgrades before the drift tuning is really the main focus. If this point is at all misleading or confusing, please let me know and I will re-publish the video with additional clarifications if it's necessary. 2. I feel bad about the timing of this video, especially given the fact that I kind of contradicted my points here in my original drift tutorial video. I'll admit that first video was kind of rushed, and I feel bad that I was more focused on getting that video out on the day the DLC dropped than doing comprehensive testing that would have been helpful to include within it. I will update the pinned comment on that video directing people to go to this one, and will also summarize some of the main points so that people aren't being misled. Hopefully this guide helped provide additional clarification on things, I just wish Rockstar themselves had made things a bit easier to understand initially. Regardless, thank you all so much for your support, and stay tuned for more content coming very soon!
You definitely rushed your rank video of the drift cars. I personally noticed significant differences between the G35 and the RX7, most notably the differences between how the RPM’s on the rx7 rev way higher at lower to medium speeds in addition to the handling being much more twitchy. These are pretty big differences between the G and RX7 because theyre both really good, but they can excel in different drifting scenarios respectively.
@@sweettea5166 I really tried to convey your last point at the beginning of that video - the fact that my rankings were based off of only very slight differences between each of the cars, and that really, it's all down to personal preference and overall skill level. While I admit it was slightly rushed and that I probably should not have ranked the FR36 as highly as I did, I believe the other rankings I made still stand in terms of highlighting the slight differences with each car. That video was simply my take on things based on my years' of experience drifting in the game and the type of smoother and slightly slower drifting I enjoy doing most. Appreciate your insight either way, I'll focus on more comprehensive testing in future videos.

Even if its unintended, they should make it to where if you buy the drift tuning you can still upgrade the engine, turbo, etc. It would keep people from getting pissed from maxing out cars then they change it so all the money you spent on the drift tuning upgrade wont matter until you buy it again
I'm so sorry bro, only had the chance to really test things the past few days so my fault for the bad timing. Going to update the pinned comment of my original drifting guide with some of the main points of this video so people are more well aware!

Thanks for the info. Luckily, I installed all performance upgrades before installing drift tune even though the game says it doesn't matter because I didn't trust rockstar
Yeah i've seen a few vids claiming they all feel the same but that's definitely not true. The Futo feels much looser and lighter and chains drifts a lot easier making those curves in the Vinewood hills area a lot of fun. Really brings in the Initial D vibes.

Im sorry to break your buble but this time its not the same, they created new hashes in the game for these new drift vehicles, so the hash have the drift flag , so for example when you turn your remus vehicle to drift , the hash will turn into the hash driftremus XD But i can bet we can do it in PC, its just matter to take any of these hashes flags and apply it to any vehicle you want, i mean they already use the scoop flag , boost flag and the parachute flag to another vehicles XD
@@georglouw4549 you do know fwd cars can still drift right? Both irl and in the game. Look at the Kanjo and the Prairie for example. Just gotta know how to do it. Which is the best car for drift in this DLC? I Know there are 8 options which 1 of them is a new car, but i dont want to spend money in a bad drift car.
My remus kept its low grips on after I put the drifting mod on and because when you put the mod on, you lose access to lowgrips. Does having unselected lowgrips on do anything like the unselected turbo/engine/transmission upgrades?
Hi great video but I don’t understand something you said first about the suspension Thant we can change before or after but then at the end with the Supra clip you said it will erase when we will do 200k tuning Can you explain please ?
Which car is the best for drifting in your opinion? I'm thinking of buying the Drift Tampa because I like the looks of it, but I'm interested if it is actually viable for this drift feature.
All of the 8 cars with the tuning option are very viable, the differences between each one are quite small. I will say my top 3 favorites are the Remus, FR36, and ZR350, but the Drift Tampa still rips too.
It 100% affects the weight at the back when you add weight placed upgrades like bigger bumpers, fenders and especially big spoilers, while drift…. You will ABSOLUTELY feel it in competition. I think that all boils down to placebo effect. May not be the response you wanted, but tires/wheels have minimal impact on how fast a car is. The power upgrades before drift tuning is really the only thing that makes a difference, anything beyond that is mainly based on feel.
When you apply the drift tune, low grip tires are not available. For example the FR36, when the drift tune is applied only standard tires and bullet proof tires are available but with the drift tune not applied low grip tires are available to use
I wish the drift races didnt count against your stats. At least fo a month or something to get an understanding of doing it. I like my positive stats lol
Did you only test the fr36? I only have all the tuners update cars and spoilers, wheels and tyre design definitely effect those cars for fine tuning (jester rr with suv wheels is so slow drifting but track wheels help to bring it up to a similar pace of the euros) also are you only max slamming your suspension? I only run street/sport suspension maybe thats why i notice these changes more.
You think leaving the power upgrades off can help with control? I’m new to drifting in this game and only have won one of the drift races with custom vehicles turned off haha
Maybe slightly, I would recommend using a car that has suspension upgrades at a bare minimum. Lowering the suspension helps handling way more than you might think.
Performance upgrades as stated when you do the drift tuning are all removed , idk why y’all buggin in the comments thinking that u should do performance upgrade then drift tune 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Doesn’t the drift tuning make the car faster because of slippery tires? In general, in gta cars are faster on straights with slippery tires. So I think the pre drift tuning power upgrades do not make the car any faster.

But do you think they’ll fix this next update? Like all of the cars will feel more sluggish without those engine upgrades?
Since it's not a money glitch or something totally game-breaking, I highly doubt it lmao
I wish the drift races didnt count against your stats. At least fo a month or something to get an understanding of doing it. I like my positive stats lol
that is funny cause I dominate these races and the stats are only going up xD
@@Jyrgen. that's great. I've never tried that stuff before. I just do regular racing.
Are you still planning to make cars with fast and furios?
Drifting with no armor is way more realistic and fun imo
If I removed drift tuning to upgrade the engine and add turbo will it affect my other upgrades?
Nope, shouldn't affect anything else. The engine and turbo upgrades will then stay when the tuning is re-applied.
I feel like the back wheels go backwards when you are mid drift.
would have been nice if you showed us were to get the cars
1:23 ...
My jester rr is on sport suspension no spoiler no tyre design
Is it possible to drive normally with drift tuning and going at high speedswithout constantly spinning out?
Yeah definitely, drift tuning cars are fairly stable at speed because they're AWD.
oh shit, i didn't apply performance upgrades before the drift kit ... oh well, it is only once car but it hurts now
Does adding neon lights affect anything ?
This is discussed in the video 👍
Does anyone know if this theory applies to HSW & Benny’s upgrades?
You think leaving the power upgrades off can help with control? I’m new to drifting in this game and only have won one of the drift races with custom vehicles turned off haha
Maybe slightly, I would recommend using a car that has suspension upgrades at a bare minimum. Lowering the suspension helps handling way more than you might think.
i only say big spoiler is a big shit, i lost a lot of point doing perfect entries because spoiler collider hits the walls, i dont recomend it
That's true, I was debating whether or not to include this in the video but if the spoiler is too big then proximity will be a bit of an issue haha
i need tokyo drift cars to be included
Would be great if Rockstar added the tuning option to more cars, here's hoping they don't forget about it.
So basically max everything out minus the stuff you said was useless, and then put on the upgrade and you’re good?
Exactly right!
Bought a zr350. Can’t stance in interaction menu and low grip tires option just isn’t there.
As discussed in the video, those options are not available after drift tuning is equipped.
@@StevieWunderKid but won’t the tuning take all that away?
why are some of the option missing when i tune my cars ? i don't have Brakes option and i don't have transmission option.
That's because you've already applied the drift tuning. This is all discussed in the video.
@@StevieWunderKid ah yes thanks, yea i missed that part
4:31 is this patched?
Patched only for races, but not in freemode. I still think doing the upgrades before tuning is worthwhile if you ever do freemode drifting.
I don’t have option for grip tires with jester RR
This video is about drift tuning, not low-grip tires. If you're not seeing them though, you probably aren't in the LS Car Meet.
Performance upgrades as stated when you do the drift tuning are all removed , idk why y’all buggin in the comments thinking that u should do performance upgrade then drift tune 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I literally showed results in the video proving that to be false, maybe if you watched it you wouldn't think everyone is "buggin" 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I know they're the lowest ranked cars but I love drifting my Drift Tampa and Drift Yosemite.
#KenBlockForever
If you have fun with them, that's all that matters!
Haven't played gta online for so long i jumped on last night to have ago at the drift race's the stock cars feel so stiff at handling hope it's not like that when you upgrade your car I'm used to car x drift racing online
I think you'll notice a big difference using the upgrades I explained in the video. Have fun with it!
@@StevieWunderKid yeah mate i noticed it now I've got my own drift car such a good thing to have in the game now i brought the Mazda rx7 had the competition suspension and it felt like a heavy boat to drift so put the stock suspension on it and it drifts so much better now loving the drift race's and banging doors with my mates online lobbys
what is the best drifting car?
Feel free to check out my video ranking them all!
One sentense would be enough, tune your Car before you choose the Drift Option. Thats it
*sentence
The upgrading before the drift tune is now patched. Don’t waste your money 👍🏼🤘🏻
Only for drift races, on freeroam it still remains the same
Also Having a passenger improves your skill so don’t forget to bring a friend
Having a passenger actually makes your car heavier lmao, so I'd advise against that
As of now are these still the only cars you can equip the true drifting too?!
Yes, only those 8 cars unfortunately.
@@StevieWunderKidthank you for the fast response ! Much appreciated for letting me know.
The cential(bmw) can’t drift anymore or
So lame how it’s only those cars. Just like a few years ago when only some cars had adjustable stance.
Doesn’t the drift tuning make the car faster because of slippery tires? In general, in gta cars are faster on straights with slippery tires. So I think the pre drift tuning power upgrades do not make the car any faster.
