I think people really forget they’re a punk reggae band from the 90s it’s was never meant to sound perfect but a good vibe….this music is before Ai and made from a computer sad world…this is awesome I’m excited for Sublime
In the 90’s bands would’ve been trashed if their live show sounded like the record. It’s not a Disney on ice performance. Live music is in the moment, ruff, rugged and raw.
There are PLENTY of other bands out here in the same category doing it WAY better than him picking up some 90s tunes that don't belong to him, and sadly they get less credit due to less notoriety. Ballyhoo!, Bumpin Uglies, and Kyle Smith just to name a few. But yall keep tryna live in the 90s. Jakob never gonna add to the legacy, because he's not on Bradley's level. Yet, yall exalting him for doing sub par covers... make it make sense. The good vibe is made way better by the other artists in this genre.

Awesome to see Jacob on the mic. In the 90's 40oz to freedom was such an underground album. I just remember riding out to the beach for morning surfs cranking it because it sounded like Operation Ivy and Reggae. Its amazing to see how the music grew and never faded away. Iconic. Bradley will always be missed but legends never die.
It's worth it, has a different sound. More like the edge that 40oz to Freedom and Robbin the Hood had. It's only getting better as Jakob gains confidence and finds his place leading this lineup. He's not his Dad and isn't trying to be, but he brings a sound that echos of Bradley and yet is also his own.
Couldn't stop smiling through the entire song, it's amazing to see Bradley's mannerisms through his son. I was a teenager when Sublime blew up, experienced the loss of many talented musicians in the 90s and now to see how life surprises ya some 20+ yrs later with a rejuvenated yet familiar sound that's giving me flashbacks to my youth 🙏

jakob isn’t really a solo guy he more plays rhythm, in a lot of rehearsal videos it’s the other guy on guitar that play the solos and jakob keeps the offbeat chords but i guess for coachella jakob wanted to play his pops solo on his guitar

Great seeing this but was really a shame they had to throw Rome under the bus in the process. He did the bands legacy respectfully and they had no problem making money with him. And that first album of new music they released was really good. I saw them as a band about 4x they always put on a tight great show
He has the potential but I’d like to hear him stick to the version his dad recorded. He could do it very nicely but he is screwing it up with all these screams and the rest. Some manager needs to tell him to stick to the original and rehearse a lot, and practice the guitar intensively. The potential is huge.
Outside of his son if you all knew how vile the members of sublime were and should be in prison for a very long time there would be no way you could support them .

He doesn't need the grunting. He's a naturally gifted singer. I thought they sounded good but if I had one criticism it's you don't need the constant inflections. Only their 2nd live performance so I'm willing to see how he and the band adapt going forward.
