I know you've "retired" from posting new lessons, but man, your gifts never stop giving. Such a total pleasure you learn songs from you---you're an inspiration. Thank you
Thank you. I love the value of open G. When you can get the haunting sounds of the Moonlight Mile intro, the funk of Brown sugar and the dirt of Can’t you hear me knocking, I think it is pure genius, what Keith did with that tuning.
Dear Tim , believe it or not : the "riff" guitar was played by Mick Jagger ! Solo/melodic guitar of course Mick Taylor . I read this in a book that Keef was not the player on Moonlight Mile . Only backing vocals and a very little part on guitar. The same for the song " Sway ". Rhytm guitar Jagger . He learned guitar playing from Keef of course - what a fabulous teacher !
Your other version was the one that got me back into playing guitar after an absence of more than 10 years....so this one hits different! Many thanks bud
Crazy! Just to remember all the subtleties of this track are probably harder than just Keith recording it cause he was just “riffing” Another great job!!
God bless The Rolling Stones,Bobby Keyes,And of course James James,You r Da Man.Goin to You got me under pressure video next,Keep doin what you r doin .Luv how i'm on you tube lookin something up,And ur new videos show up!!! And your right think its Carlos...
Nailed it wow totally awesome playing and tone James ! This is in the top 5 best rock songs for me and best album it’s so good! Breaking it down slowly thx
Hey JJ, how's tricks man? Are you doing fine? You've got no idea of how much I miss your posts. What do you think of the live version of Can't you hear me knocking? I
Great version. This song has got to be right up there with their best work. The first part is typical Stones driving rock at its best, and the extended jam shows quite a different aspect to them.
Another way to play the section over the 'Cant you hear me knocking' is to play the high b & d at 7th fret 'cant you hear' then at 5th fret 'me' than barred on 5th high b & d plus b at 7th (same time) 'knock' & then bar at 5th high b & d for 'in' of knock'in fame.
AWESOME THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing and instructive as always… but you making difficult for me to choose my first electric guitar ( acoustic all my life ) .. bouncing between Tele or LP. Any advice is always appreciated.. thank you
I blare this on the loud speaker after every fire when we’re back at the firehouse cleaning tools n shit. Picture a buncha guys high fiving smokin cigs grinding tools and this riff full blast. Dirty grimy filthy riff. I love it
amazing. I tried watching other guys that taught you how to play it.. but it was too slow. there was too many explanations. I guess it was becoming "too easy" to be told exactly what to do. this, is what I like. your explanations are fantastic, or your lack of explanation. depends on the video. I find your camera angle very easy to follow, many guys just want to put fancy shit in the backround and you cant actually see the guitar... anyways. thanks for this one. been struggling with it
Stones is so nice and loose. So much of what we like about Page, but we're celebrating Keith here. All these years trying to play his stuff in standard tuning 😆. Never sounded quite right but maybe good practice on some other level.
More then the electric Chicago Bluesman THIS is modernized Delta 💙 Blues Love 💖 It this is what Robert Johnson would be playing in 1971 right before the jealous husband put poison in his Whiskey in a Mississippi Juke joint ha,ha,😂!!!!!
It's gotta be Mick Taylor. I could play his solo fairly well, Gibson Firebird rhythm pickup, Fender Super Reverb with the reverb turned up nails that tone.
I know you've "retired" from posting new lessons, but man, your gifts never stop giving. Such a total pleasure you learn songs from you---you're an inspiration. Thank you
Totally crushed it. Never heard anyone hold down the rythm section during the solo like you did. Incredible!🔥🤘👍
That intro riff gets me every time. Fender Champ turned to 11!.
Unbelievable! You nailed Keith's tone and chops perfectly! Even all the funky rhythmic stuff when Mick Taylor trips off into Santana land. Nice work!
You are so talented, I understand your need to leave, but know that you are missed and admired by many 🎸
And thats why my tele has five strings and is always in open G. Nice one JJ, thanks!👍
Tuned to the key of Keith!
After so many years still impressed by your playing. Can’t thank you enough.
Good Lord does that tune go on. Man what an odyssey. Very nice work. Man.
This songs guitar to me is the definition of rhythm guitar playing. Thank you for this.
it must be really fun to be able to get all those different things in this song by ear, you really nailed it here
Thank you. I love the value of open G. When you can get the haunting sounds of the Moonlight Mile intro, the funk of Brown sugar and the dirt of Can’t you hear me knocking, I think it is pure genius, what Keith did with that tuning.

Mick wrote the Brown Sugar riff. It's Keith on the song recording, though, as he tightened it up. Mick on acoustic on Moonlight yup.
I learn so much from your playing bro, THANKS buddy!
It's a fantastic riff which you play damn good, Rock such as this is hard to come by in this world we live in Now.
Man, this might be my favorite guitar rock song. The intro is so badass!
nice tone jj; sounds like it's compression coming out of a whiskey bottle. very nice and raunchy...
Keith does so much with so little. Amazing. Thanks for the demo!
Thank you for setting me straight on a lot of songs, especially The Rolling Stones.
One of the coolest guitar riffs ever!
Yeahhh !!!! As usual a golden lesson. Thank you so much for the time you spend to build your video's. Cheers from France
Awesome man. My favorite Stones tune! 🤘🏻

I've always been afraid to tackle this, but you've taught me a few others I didn't think I'd get.
Thanks again.
Nailed it wow totally awesome playing and tone James ! This is in the top 5 best rock songs for me and best album it’s so good! Breaking it down slowly thx
This is the very first song that I learned the lead to!! Just played along with the album,"Sticky Fingers"

Talk about the Riff Master
That whole song is ALL great RIFFS
good job JJ
Fantastic playing.
Yet again a sublime demonstration.
Great version. This song has got to be right up there with their best work. The first part is typical Stones driving rock at its best, and the extended jam shows quite a different aspect to them.
This is one of my favorites, but it looks anything but easy! This is a roadmap, though. May as well get started. Thanks!
Gorgeous, just a perfect part in all ways.
Great job. Thanks for showing us how it’s done.

So hot. Arguable best rock riff opener we've ever been blessed with
I would support that argument.
@@jamesjames9275 or She Sells Sanctuary
Badass best cover of this on UA-cam IMHO
I play it in standard tuning but looks much easier in open G..... which would figure. Gonna give it a try. Thanks J.J.
Tele love. New guitarist here and a huge Stones fan. Subscribed.

Let's See, if this was only posted a year ago he would probably be playing through his Peavy vyper 100
I wanna play like that when I grow up. I'm 76 so it's not going to happen. I'm still learning from this master though.
Nice work and well made jj
That was tight! Cheers!
AWESOME THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great video!
Genesse, they make that in my home town.
Amazing and instructive as always… but you making difficult for me to choose my first electric guitar ( acoustic all my life ) .. bouncing between Tele or LP. Any advice is always appreciated.. thank you
Well done 👍
james .......a ton of comments right out of the box ......like the fans have noted all along , you ve arrived !!!
You are the guitar teacher I turn to first. Hope you come out of retirement at some point...you're the best.
Thanks again guy that’s awesome!
Yeah! you can do this song a hundred times and it'll never get old. Is that a capo over by Elvis?
HELL YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Genesee Cream Ale!!! To me, the best tasting, most drinkable beer for your money!
love it
Any tips for timing? I can play the song keith’s part. however my timing is always wrong when i play with my bandmates
Know what I’m learning today
Master!
Awesome video! Did you design the paint scheme on your telecaster? Reminds me of Jimmy’s.
It’s a replica of Jimmy’s.
This song prevents suicide.

Could possibly be the best riff ever….along side of Bi#ch.

Keith is the only guitarist who makes me pull a funny face when im listening to him, this riff is just nasty.
If this hasn't been guessed yet, I believe you are Dave Minihane from the Neighborhoods.

Can't You Hear Me Knocking, 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 very hard to play, j will try
Are you Keef😂
It's Mick Taylor playing The solo, right?
If it’s not him, it’s Carlos Santana.
I'm sure it's Taylor, but it really does sound a bit like Santana. Amazing job on this, as usual.
It's gotta be Mick Taylor. I could play his solo fairly well, Gibson Firebird rhythm pickup, Fender Super Reverb with the reverb turned up nails that tone.
@@brianwells4507 It’s is most certainly Mick T. It’s arguably his signature achievement as a guitar player.
@@jamesjames9275 Ever hear "Hartley Quits" by John Mayall's Blues Breakers? My favorite Mick Taylor tune.
Thank you, as always.
First of all, that JP Dragon Tele is effin’ boss. Nice one!
Otherwise, nice cover!
