I can never find zippered hoodies when I want them. This is perfect!! Thank you for making this look not scary! I am going to keep an eye out for hoodie sales now.
I'm using a tiedye hoodie for my Charlie Brown group dress up at work. I'm going to be Woodstock. Have the perfect size and color zipper from my collection already. Loved your video so clear and to the point. Florida Halloween can be hit or miss if it's going to be 85 or 35.
This is brilliant. I was halfway through the process and couldn't for the life of me think of a solution for the overlapping pieces of hood. I love the pleats placed away from the zip. That's an excellent solution. Thank you.
you are such an angel for making this tutorial. I’ve been struggling with learning to do proper zippers for ages and no one has put it in this simple of instructions. 😭❤️
My daughter found a beautiful, expensive printed hoodie that she was in love with, but we live in Texas. Aside from the brief, intense times when the world is covered in heavy ice, you usually don't wear a pull-over hoodie all day; you really need a zipper so that you can put it on in the cold morning, then take it off as the day warms. I really appreciate your helpful tutorial.
I was very intimidated to try this until I found your video. After watching your instructions, I was able to add a zipper to a hooded sweatshirt by myself! Thank you so much!
That was great! I've just learned how to make a hoodie, at Shipley Fabric and Sewing School here in the UK. But I fancied a zipper in my next one. Bingo! Perfect tutorial. Many thanks xxx
I love your technique, your style and also the sewing box! I have a few inherited from my grandma, that I cherish & use, reminiscing about her while sewing. Big hug from my heart to yours 🤗 And the end result looks awesome, too! I loved how you dealt with the overlapping hoodie situation, and everything looks like it belongs. Beautiful!
Another awesome project, and too easy not to consider making it yourself. And frankly, I have had that problem before. But neither did I dare try, now did I think that it would be that "easy" (compared to what I thought it would take, at least). Thanks for sharing, Ellen!
I have so many unused closed hoodies that I was looking for a video tutorial on this subject. I will try to do the same. Appreciate this video a lot. Thanks 🙏
Excellent job! I love zippered sweatshirts because I'm always either too hot or too cold. The way you finished off the hood was very clever. And I like the way you changed the drawstring, to "accessorize" the new zipper!
Great video, huge help! Thanks Ellen. I am so happy you mentioned zipper foot. This is pretty easy, not so easy as Ellen makes it look! I used small binder clips. Locating the bottom of the zipper is important.
Thank you! Just made my project so much easier!! I just received a bunch of old hoody’s I love but won’t wear due to my local climate. This is going to mean I can make them in to zip ups that I actually will wear! Thanks!
Super helpful. I've bee searching for a zip hoody from my favorite bands, but there aren't many options. Now I'll just get the one I want and ADD the zipper. Thanks for making this video.
Where have you been all of my life? I love hoodies but they mess up my hair. I have my fav 3 that I've been wanting to convert but I had no idea how to do it. Thank you soooo much!
This is so freaking great! I was wondering how to do that for a long time but never had it stuck in my head for long enough to try to do it myself... but now I have a nice tutorial, ready made for me :) Thanks Ellen! Great video!
Thank you for showing me how to put a zipper in a hoodie. Also what I liked most is how you showed us how to take a pullover and put a zipper in. I don't like pull over's and I have a few my daughter's gave me. I love that's there's now two pockets! Thank you so much. I subscribed to your site and can't wait to see more of your video's.
Thanks a lot..my sweatshirt neck was so up that it felt like I couldn't breathe because of round tight neckline..now I watched the exact video.. thanks a lot
Thank you that was super awesome. I need to make one of these hoodies minus the hood, and maybe make it sleeveless as well. I have very sensitivity skin, so I will need to line it as well. I love how this was so straight forward and no need for magical fuse-able interfacing.
Perfect. First video I've seen on how to do this and I feel like it would come out looking perfect, at least for my first time sewing job, but on a serious note. I really do feel like id need no more research, maybe just watch your video a couple more times and keep it for a template video for myself. Easily explained and shown.
In this case you need a zipper that can split completely, so you need to buy the right length. If you don't need it to split, you can cut them to any length you want. You can even buy zipper on a roll and a box of zipper pulls so you can just cut however much you need :)
That tip about connecting the drawstrings and using the old one to pull the new one through was very clever!
GAVE HER A LIKE FOR THAT 1

Saw this in your IG story. Thanks!

Older video, but easy to follow & my husband now can wear a gifted pullover hoodie because I sewed in a zipper!!! ❤❤❤

This is great. I’m always finding hooding that I wish were zip-ups. Thanks!
Love it, so useful! I'm inspired to take this on with a couple pullover hoodies I have but don't wear (because they don't have zippers).
Zippers are the best 😁
I was very intimidated to try this until I found your video. After watching your instructions, I was able to add a zipper to a hooded sweatshirt by myself! Thank you so much!
Exactly what I was looking for. Wanted to have the band at the neckline sit back in nicely.......you did a perfect fix for that.

You made this tutorial so simple and easy to understand. Thank you so much 💕!
This is exactly what I am gearing up to do! I hadn't decided what to do about the hood overlap in front. Thanks for the tip!
You certainly make it look easy. Thank you for breaking it down so clearly. And I love your wooden sewing box!

Thanks for the tips on this. I was wondering how to take up the slack in the hood. Perfect, thanks.
Exactly what I needed. I just finished adding my zipper. Thank you for your fantastic tutorial.
Fantastic! I got a hoodie, which my little one thinks is so tight on his neck. This is a perfect solution. Thank you so much for sharing .
I've been seeing sooo many hoodies that I want but can't stand pullovers.... Problem solved!

Can this work by cutting it yourself and sewing it yourself? I dont have a machine

I have a really pretty pullover that I’m definitely going to try this with!
I should have watched this ages ago! So many cool maker hoodies are pullover, but I prefer zippered! Of course I can make it myself.
Thank you for the video. My husband has a hoodie he loves but would like it to be zip up. So Now I know how to fix it. Thanks again.

I watched it the 2nd time and completely understood. Thank you. I do not have a sewing machine though.
I have a work hoodie I have been wanting to do this for a while. Thanks I'm going to save this video for when I have time and try to do this myself.😊
Simple elegant way to customise clothing and make it your own! Kudos Ellen :)
Thanks Kurt!

That little pleat in the hood... so neat, I love it! Great video, full of useful little tips.
Thank you for this video. It was a breeze with an idea of what I was attempting to do!
Great clear demonstration. I’m planning to put a zipper in a snap closure puffer jacket.
Awesome I need this my Dad really wanted a red one and it’s difficult to find one in his size.
Awesome stuff Ellen! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
This is a great tutorial! I will be using it to adapt two of mine!
You make it look so easy Ellen😂 great video and tip😉
you make it look easy. you have to get the correct length zipper or can you cut them to the length you want?

Thanks a lot this is what exactly I’m looking for!! Keep it up for more ideas 💡
needed this for a cosplay, my character has a zip up hoodie but for some reason red and black striped zip ups are so hard to find or weirdly expensive
You make it look so easy, I will give it a go. Thanks!
Just what I needed. Thanks for the video.
Good job! I'm at the point in life I don't want to wear pullover sweatshirts. I've been thinking about doing this ...

@@CraftsWithEllen thank you
You made that look genuinely not terrifying. I guess I could do that.
Of course you can. You've done sewing way more complicated than this 👍
My son’s hoodie is too tight around his neck. This is perfect. Thank you
Se ha quedado de cine!! me ha gustado. like!!
I also prefer when there is a zipper. I got one that needs a new zipper. It's still waiting to be fixed the fix for about a year ...
Thanks this was super helpful!
