Nice looking train with decent sized windows. The barrier vehicle looks like a former Gatwick express luggage van or one of the motor luggage vans built for boat trains. From a broader perspective, I think it would be a good thing if everything on the railway could be coupled to everything else. What are all the mark 1s and mark 2s for? One of them looks like a former BCK brake composite.
This is a wonderful video showing the two class 47s the barrier vehicles and the new Class 397 003 but like Stephen Dines says the latter should not be arriving in the UK they should be constructed here!!
@Thomas The Trainspotter I don't think that's the cleaners fault. Yes the cleaner may have missed it, but how did the water get there in the first place? I think anyone with common sense would choose not to wash a plug
@Thomas The Trainspotter they aren't giving them away to scotrail, they're going off lease, also blaming the maintenance team for "not replacing the window seals" is pretty insulting to the people that try to clean the trains you travel on, all because your trying to win a argument on the Internet about replacing old trains that need replacing
If the buyer accepts the price against an open competition and is happy with the product so be it. And you do know CAF who built these have built a factory in Newport and are now building trains there? As are Siemens in Goole, Hitachi in Newton Aycliffe and Bombardier in Derby? Alstom have a big development in Widnes and Talgo have taken two sites - Chesterfield (design and development) and Longannet (factory)
Nice of UA-cam to throw this in my suggested videos, absolutely adore the 397s

They do look smart, let's hope the build quality is as good as they look
Hopefully I'll be driving that by summer assuming testing goes as planned.
Did you get it?
the blue coaches resemble the NMG rakes used by Indian Railways. what does Great Western Railway call them?
They are owned by Rail Operations Group and used as barrier Coaches
It's 3 Mk1 Coaches and 1 Mk2 Coach
Wow great catch
Oof, now thats how the IEPs should have looked.
Great Video Mate
Was it transported to the UK by ship or through the Channel Tunnel?
47812 did that belong to riviera trains at some point ??
what r those modified green coaches?
those coaches are for the trains with the old hook coupling to couple to the new standard couplings
@@yourlocalskoda4860 oh so its so the 47s can hook up and not the 397s to the 47s
Brake Translator Coaches

even brand new trains are hauled in by our own locos.
These should not arrive in the UK, they should be built oin the UK.
Better than using 40 year old stock that's falling to pieces
@Thomas The Trainspotter have you seen the state that some of the gwr HSTs are in? There is mould growing on plug sockets to say the least

@Thomas The Trainspotter there's no point when the expected withdrawl of the GWR HSTs is scheduled for the may timetable change.
A Real shame they were built abroad don't talk to me about cost you get what you pay for.

@Sicilian Gecko In fairness no they aren't. These are built in Spain and shipped by sea to Bristol Portbury. Then by rail North as shown here.
@Sicilian Gecko So why is this clip titled the first Class 397 to arrive in the UK ?
