I have experimented with numerous shields with no great improvements. Buffeting and noise are my main concerns. I just recently got a new Moto Guzzi Mandello. It has an on the fly adjustable screen. It isn't large but there is no buffeting at all. However there is quite a bit of wind pressure at the helmet level. There is an area under the screen that lets air into the rider area. I have found that this space under the screen is the smallest when the screen is fully retracted or extended. The largest is at the mid-point. When the screen is at this point the wind pressure is at the lowest and the noise rhe least. Maybe something to think about and maybe try somehow.
Have you tried flipping the front screen upside down? This screen worked brilliantly on my 2020 Vstrom 650XT. On my new 390 adventure its terible!! I did try fliping the screen and it was better lowering the buffetting effect. I deciced to go back to the stock screen and reset what I am feeling. Funny thing is I borrowed a GS500 whilst my 390 was getting its first service and as you may know the GS500 has no screen, but it felt OK and it didnt seem as bad a s my Givi Airflow! Yes I got a far bit of air but it felt "clean" not dirty air. On a ride this past week end I tried PlugPhones ear plugs with speakers in them (basicly in-ear monitors) and the bass buffetiing was so bad I had to rip them ou of my ears whilst riding. This screen is really bad! Going to try the stock then move to just the bottom half of the Airflow and see how that goes or re-try the flipped front screen again. Worst case I'll sell the bike! Hahaha P.S. Thanks for the video!
Been watching with interest. I dont feel like I have a problem with the standard screen, but thinking back to my Honda Africa Twin experience, some of the helmet turbulence is damped with a light plastic plate at the front of the tank, across to the side fairing. I wonder if something g like that might work on the 390 as well.
Yes that os good point - for come people, on some bikes, the issue may not be related to the top of the screen at all! I have another video due out today or tomorrow where I do finally make some progress 😊
I have your solution! Goldwing, bmw r1250rt, or k1600gtl. I just don't think it's possible to make a large pocket of quiet air unless you punch a big hole in it. Even my r1250rs gives me some buffeting with the screen up. It doesn't get smooth unless I put it down and let the wind hit the helmet. Good luck with your testing.
Interesting and the experiment continues not sure where else you can go with this screen Rikky but it's going to be interesting to see 😉could it be that the bigger the screen the more turbulence are created maybe , or perhaps the shape as in with say a headlamp fairing with it's more rounded shape is much more streamlined and less of a problem of course that would be no good for an adventure style bike it's a strange one for sure . 👍
Hey Rikky, Have you considered 1 of those 'clip-on' top, clear deflectors? Never tried them myself, just thinking from what you said about the venturi effect.....🤔🤔🤔

Keep a look out for my next video... it should be out either today or tomorrow and I try one of those!
Yep, just come back to browse and guess what video was at the top of my suggestions? 🤣😅🤣😂🤣@@RikkyTang
