- 1994 a group of German university students started a rumor that the western German city of Bielefeld doesn't really exist. Since then books and countless articles have been written about it and even a film has been made on the subject. But exist it does, and Euromaxx went to visit this charming German city.

Well... in 2014 we had our 800-year anniversary... and the best slogan our city came up with was "800 Jahre Bielefeld? Das gibts ja gar nicht!" (Translated to: "800 years of Bielefeld? Thats unreal!" (or 'unbelieveable'))
what should be mentioned is that "Das gibt's ja gar nicht!" has a double meaning, it's usually an exclamation of surprise, but when translated literally it means something along the lines of "That doesn't exist!"

But the lamdmass exists. They warped the maps so that you can drive to all those places on it, without noticing that you are being rerouted along the edges of a gaping hole on the map. They needed that space for the production and surveillance and support infrastructure for the Bird Drones. "Wyoming" is where "birds" go in winter to get maintenance checks and replacements.

I think someone should start an inverse Bielefeld conspiracy. Invent the name of a city and insist that it is actually real and is actually hidden from maps and that anyone from there is forced to lie and pretend they are from somewhere else.

That's not quite what I mean. I don't mean actually build a city, just invent one in our minds. Tell people it is a great place that has many amazing things, but be vague on where it actually is, because it doesn't actually exist.

That must have been psychologically devastating - forming emotional bonds and attachments with people who turned out to be actually just low-res holograms. Did you wake up in a wet field one day and see that it was all gone ? You were lucky to be honest, most people sent to Bielefeld never return. Hope you recover. And try living some place real now, like Aschaffenburg or Munich.
