I don't think the average audience member understands how truly difficult this brass book is. Starting at 4:40, you guys are doing G-E lip slurs in triplet 16ths??? And on the move??
I love this because y’all came to our school and cause you play baritone and I’m planning to audition for crown once I graduate and march baritone there too thank you for the head cam man
I can't speak for Crown specifically but most if not all world class corps will look for marching experience outside of high school, so I would personally recommend marching a year of an open-class corp or college marching band before marching crown. That's not to say it's not impossible right out of high school, but it would be helpful. If you can afford it, definitely audition for both world and open class since even if you get cut you will learn a lot. Also practice the hell out of your fundamentals and audition packet when you get it.
Funny thing to me is this dude is having fun. I marched DCI in the 80's and it wasn't fun at all. Did it for 3 seasons. I would call it rewarding but not fun. Staff used to get mad at you for laughing or breaking protocol. The hardest thing that I have ever done in my life. Seems DCI let up on that standard. Now you guys don't even march on or off of the field. Oh and I forgot about the 4 layer wool uniforms that were heavy and hot to be in. Most of us were boys. The color guard were girls and they made all the stuff they used and hemmed our uniforms. Right here right now eh?

I'm a baritone player in high school and I'm going to audition for Crown after my senior year. What are some things that Crown looks for?

A great sound, a great work ethic, and above all someone who’s willing to put in the work. They don’t care where you’ve marched or where you’re from

A lot of decorum has slipped, that’s for sure. It’s a little too artsy for me sometimes.
