Nobody beats Chuck at it but Keith is definitely second. Ronnie Wood is excellent at it and John Lennon, though he's not rated that highly as a guitarist, was great at it as well.

They're playing it even slower than Chuck's original "Go, Johnny, Go!" film version, which was slow. And which is correct, it's a slow song.
The story goes that Chuck wrote it on the spur of the moment as a B-side filler for the film.

I have seen the Stones live many times since Feb 1964 and Chuck Berry just the once, at his peak in May 1964. I have followed both like it is forever and never get tired of their music. To me, here, live at MSG in 1969, the Stones captured the very essence of who they are, a rocking band that can actually do Berry better than Berry when they put their mind to it. Queenie is my favourite recording on the Yas Yas album and I can never get enough of it. Bravo, Stones!

That piano in the background is being played by none other than Ian (Stu) Stewart, who was in the very first iteration of The Stones but was relegated to the background by Andrew Oldham because Oldham felt six members in a rock band were too many. So, Stu graciously accepted the position of The Stones road manager and all around piano player. By the way, nobody could cover Chuck Berry as good as The Stones did. They really do a fantastic job here with Little Queenie.

This has become one of my favorite performances of their’s, so very raw and unbridled plus all the screen time Charlie is getting, great to see him in action behind the kit, he flat out owns this!! Kids back then in Jersey and NYC would go out dancing. Here comes a song performed by British rock band about the art of getting a dance partner. Jagger and the crew overlay their own creative style to it with that slow, heart pounding beat. And that voice! The Stones bring out the story in a way no one else has. And because of this, they make it a classic.

How can anyone listen to this and not want to move?! It’s almost impossible and I’m old and stove up! Love when they play these soulful, bluesy songs! My absolute favorite performances!! Get your ya’s ya’s the best live album to me just because of their song choices. Love to go see a band and know every song they might play and the Stones are one of the few. Makes it hard to go to the bathroom…..you know you might miss another once in a lifetime performance!! First time seeing them, I was with some of my favorite people in the world and then they came onstage, played about two and a half hours and I was mesmerized. Sang lyrics with thousands of people that knew all the words and it captivated me like nothing I’d ever experienced before or since. Not many bands that can pull that off. Pure magic!!

The greatest mistake the Stones ever made was not doing WHATEVER IT TOOK,
to keep Mick Taylor in the band.
For starters, they could have PAID him.
He was given no credits on SEVERAL albums---in other words, no residuals.
In addition, his mates should have helped him with drug addiction and got him the help he needed to stay with the band. They did not...
With all due respect to Keith Richards---on Mick Taylor's WORSE DAY,
Keef couldn't hold a candle to him.
Make no mistake, Keith Richards is a very good guitarist.
Mick Taylor is a GREAT guitarist. A guitar genius.
Right up there with Hendrix, Clapton, and Santana.
    No doubt about it.
The five albums he produced with the Stones from '69-'74 are all classics.
The band was never the same after 1974.
