Yes. Great idea. I fish a lot of weightless screwlock rigs and it definitely extends plastics life for me because I'm finessing through junk and grass a lot. So I'll definitely try this.
I like this technique. It reminds me of years ago we used a weighted swimbait hook on Rage baits. It was called the Rage Rig. It was productive as well.
You’re trying to get me in trouble with obsessing over more techniques haha. Great video and info sir. Love the underwater footage. Helps things make so much more sense.
Definitely rig through the side. I’ve had some lights out days with Ozark rig. First mid summer with beaver style bait in 7-9’ of water both large and smallies. Also using a plain Senko was a fish almost every cast from a dock day. I find bite is either on with it or not. I have one always tied on. The side rig method saves baits
Love my Ozark Rigs!! As Matt stated... through experience it is best to go all the way through and then rig. If you saying you hate.... you can send them to me and I will pay shipping!
I haven't used the Ozark rig yet, although I've had many people tell me I should. The underwater footage you get is always amazing, so that definitely helps bump it up my list. Any time you can get a bait to move and react several different ways by just altering the retrieve is great for versatility.
I’ve never seen that before. It’s honestly one of those things where you say “why didn’t I think of that?!” I’m really interested to try this out. Thanks for the underwater footage!
Steve, another great video! You should do one using different bats as well like a fluke style bait and maybe a brush hog style bait. It would be cool to see what the ozark rig does on several different baits! Thanks again!
Tips from Matt have helped me catch more bass, and You yourself Steve have done your share as well. Thanks. My grandpa taught me how to catch a lot of fish, but you guys have helped make it easier.
Great video Steve! Matt's channel has other videos where he's testing the OR with other types of soft baits. Have several in different sizes. Great setup for virtually any type of plastic.
Finally! Love the Ozar. Actually, I have every product they make. And man, they are innovating. The big ¾ oz with a 10" worm is killer as well. This rig works very well with a panorama multiple size
Every time I try to rig these, I wind up tearing my bait. I much prefer the similar rock crawler from a custom bait manufacturer. It definitely looks great in the water though.
Steve I use the Ozark Rig to flip into trees and Brush. It’s wild to watch it turn and dart between the limbs. And be ready when it hits the bottom in the brush pile. Mr Big Mouth is going to knock it down and run with it.
#3 makes me think a baby bass color or two tone down the baits length to give a little flash with the rolling action imparted. Perhaps a dye pen? Nothing like seeing with your own eyes. Good video Sir.
I use it with the super fluke and the bigger missle Quiver and I get really aggressive strike on it. It works pretty good with 3.8 inch swim baits too. I think it just give the fish something new they haven't seen yet.
The Ozark rig is a pain to rig especially with soft plastic. Always destroy the plastic. Im stuck this terminal tackle 😢 I’ve already told Matt Steffen about the rigging.
@@MarkVincent-h7q i gave up on this rig too. Very cumbersome to rig with plastics. Ive lost a lot of good plastics just learning how to rig. And it doesnt seem to work as advertised.
seems like the way its rigged damages the plastic too much. if you notice in matts vid he has to put on a new plastic after every fish. @FishOn1 has a good idea to add a screw lock to the rig.
I’ve been adding and using a screw lock at the front for rigging. My baits last a lot longer and it still works very well.
totally agree! great idea man! fish on!
Great tip!

Ahhh...excellent idea. The eyelet end of the rigging has kinda been a problem area for me. I'll definitely be giving this a try! 👍
Same!! It's that or using Elaztech baits.

Thanks for doing the video! Great underwater footage!
I really enjoyed making it. Nice work with the rig!
It’s awesome for flipping stumps and laydowns.
Love it! You and Matt are the two guys I am subscribed to for my upper mid-west bass fishing education. THANKS GUYS!
Awesome! Thank you!
this channel and matt's are 2 of the best on you tube!!!
Thank you!
Agreed

Missile D-Stroyer mated with Ozark rig is killer combo.

I was hesitant to get these but now after seeing the underwater footage I better get some.... back to the tackle store lol thanks steve 😅
Love that OR
Get the hook wet before insertingthrough a plastic. Helps lube it up.
I just received some of these the other day, I can't wait to give them a try. Great underwater video of this rig, thank you!!!
Glad you like them!

First time I’ve tried it and was really impressed.
Great video Steve! I use the Ozark rig all the time, works well on TRL! Thanks!

I just got the Ozark rig and have not gotten to use it yet but I to am excited about it.
Good luck with it!

I truly think he invented this for a tube lure. Using a tube lure with the Ozark Rig an absolute killer.
Thank you I will have to try it out
Good luck!
Hey, Steve, pray you and your family are well. I like that O rig
Thank you! You as well! Hope you have a great week.
Got a number of them from Matt . Works great on a number of baits . Comes through the wood great too
Thanks for the tip!
@@SteveRogersOutdoors 😁
Looks good
I’ll eventually give this a try. Still too in love with the free rig as of right now.
Good luck and thanks for watching!
Z craw jr works great also white pearl and birthday cake!
I wonder if it will work with a tube... Will try it.
Thank you thank you
Thanks for watching!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this.
I think it looked better on the fall with the spiral than just floating down
The Ozark rig is very similar in appearance to the stupid tube rig. Never tried the OR yet, but I love me some stupid fishing !
Retrieve number two worked for me on my local lake
Excellent!

That. Cutter worm. That just looks too good. !!!!!!!! The person in the comments Saying screw lock. !!! Good idea too try.

that would be similar, but have a slightly different fall because of the different weight distribution.
The Geecrack Bellows Gill would be great to see underwater on this rig. The combo gets bit, but the plastic doesn't last long, unfortunately
That would be a great one to try!
Eh, I'm not sold on this for Texas rigging, tears up baits like crazy. I do think it would make for a great tube jig hook though.
The weight distributed down the shaft of the hook aka it’s a keel weighted hook. Nothing new on the market lol
The Ozark rig is a pain to rig especially with soft plastic. Always destroy the plastic. Im stuck this terminal tackle 😢 I’ve already told Matt Steffen about the rigging.
Take a standard EWG hooh and wrap it with led wire and super glue it or weld it to the hook.
Hook!
@@CaseyWWelch yes. That is a better solution. I have lead wire and some shrink wrap which would be easier to rig in the end
@pequenioedgarito3067, that is a good option with the shrink wrapp. Tight lines, I hope you whack them.
Bass can get off this rig at higher percentage rates than other rigs. No significant advantage.
I think this is a catch a fisherman rig. Truly not much difference in other weighted hooks
Being brought up and taught, "You never spank another man's baby."...I think I'll pass on this rig. Tight lines, God bless everybody.
