My wedding cake, back in 1992, was carrot cake with ivory buttercream. Just your standard decorations piped in buttercream with ivory pearl swags. It was new to our area for that time. I wanted fondant but my parents owned a wedding store and their cake decorator couldn't do fondant and they weren't going to pay someone else to make my cake. LOL It was pretty. It had dusty rose and ivory silk flowers around it, and my cake topper was an ivory unicorn in dusty rose roses and ivory silk calla lilies.

hey man, sorry you took my comment this way. it was a joke, in the same way that James hated the cake because of his snake phobia. the reference to Malfoys would have made it clear that my comment on the video is actually a comment on the snakes?
and I'm sure he would have laughed and teased me more because of my Ophidiophobia if I had said it to his face.
I got married in 1994 right after Martha Stewart's Wedding Book first came out. Back then wedding cakes always tasted terrible and were pretty expensive-$500-700 for a product that tasted like box cake covered in hydrogenated-shortening frosting. I decided to make one of the cakes from Martha's book. I was a pretty adventurous home baker but I had never made a wedding cake.
I made a 4-layer cake using one of Martha's chocolate cake recipes. The cake was dense and rich and almost looked and felt like a brownie. I used simple syrup to add even more moistness and frosted it with Grand Marnier Swiss Meringue Buttercream. To decorate the cake, I added red raspberries I picked from my mom's garden the morning of the wedding, white chocolate curls and some basic piping. We drove the hour and 15 min to the venue with the air conditioning on high because I had no idea how to transport a cake nor the proper coolers or boxes. It was DELICIOUS so my goal was met. .

My 2 yr old son and I watch your channel together all the time and he loves it (I love it to, but he is way cuter than me so thought I'd focus the spotlight on him ;-). Whenever the show starts he yells "CAKE!!", then he pays such close attention to every thing you are doing.

My wedding cake had key lime for some layers, and root beer for the rest with cream cheese frosting, ice blue fondant, and copper, brass, and silver fondant gears and lace and a planetary gear system my husband designed with our Initial for our topper. 😍😍😍😎 It wasn't as cool looking as your steampunk cake, but it fit our theme perfectly.

The bottom tier was made up of 6 6" cakes. Half of those were Key Lime, the other half were root beer. The other 3 tiers of the cake were root beer. We did the key lime because my mom doesn't like root beer, but she does like key lime pie, and the key lime cake with cream cheese frosting tasted JUST like the pie.
Kate Monster nice!! I bet that was good, thought you meant the root beer and Keylime layers were alternated with cream cheese frosting in between… That was very sweet of you to be so accommodating to your mother as well on your special day!

It would probably be too heavy for the royal icing egg stand, especially when cake pop is a bit dense. But a thin chocolate egg shell with a tiny suprise inside would be good I think.

I do the same thing when I see wasps outside (indoors is even worse!) I remember my dad used to fish them out of his beer sometimes when we were on holiday. I wouldn't mind but he didn't kill them, just dumped them on the table to dry out, sober up and carry on terrorizing everyone :/

He calls that milk, but, at the very least, that is half and half.... The milk it too white and thick to be just regular milk.
Sam Antley looks like normal full-fat milk to me. I think most Americans are used to skim milk so normal full-fat milk could seem off to you?
I think that its possible, but I have used half and half enough that the consistency and color really looks like half and half. Full disclosure, my regular milk purchase would be 2%, so you could be correct on this. I guess it doesn't really matter overall, same effect regardless.
Sam Antley I always buy full-fat milk and it looks exactly the same as in the video. I can also say that there already is a huge difference in consistency and color between 2% and our regular 3.6% milk. I can't say what half and half looks like (since we don't have that where I live), but then I would give them the benefit of doubt that they would say half and half if it was half and half. But yeah, it definitely isn't fat-reduced :)
