Great video Merg!
The fake martlet melting scene truly made me scared like I've never been on an Undertale fangame. The fact that you could see it coming for a single frame on Martlets face only makes it better. Truly one gem of a fangame, would recommend
I love the ideia that Clover sucked so much at playing Undertale, Flowey just felt like creating an Easy mode. Undertale Yellow is literally born from a skill issue
24:08 Clover be like: step aside, there's a new dancer in town Flowey may be an unhinged psycho, but his fight is *chef* *kiss* . If someone told me it's an official fight I would believe it.
24:15 This tells us so much about the lore of the game and how it all comes together with Undertale's story as a whole. It even inspires me... Truly the absolute *BEST* part of the entire game.
This has got to be one of, if not the best "Flowey" fights ever made. Not to mention the awesome music (Its "BEST FRIENDS FOREVER - UNDERTALE YELLOW OST 102" if anyone is interested). I seriously cant remember the last time i was so impressed by a boss fight in an Undertale Fangame.
Theres actually 2 endings for you to do, not one. If you decide to kill ceroba in the pacifist ending, there will be a different ending with an extra boss
The first flowey fight actually uses the enemies you killed against you. In this case, Merg killed Starlo and Axis. (I forgot the other persons name), so Flowey used Starlo and Axis, that is honestly so cool.
That is because this fight takes place in Flowey's and Clover's minds, because Flowey is trying to absorb the soul. That's why they appear, along Flowey's backstory: *_they are both reviving their traumas._*
It also can use attacks from Decibat, Dalv and El Bailador (I’ve done like 3 neutral runs and haven’t touched any other route). He also has different dialogue if you do the neutral again. At first he’ll say something like “Really ? We’re back here ? This can’t be on purpose I know you don’t remember these” and after another one goes “Is your life really stuck to this one path ? Is this it ? Dang”. After a fourth he makes a joke and then says “This isn’t funny, none of this is” before resetting
@@Idontknowwhattowrite150 True! Flowey can use attacks from Decibat, Dalv, El Bailador, Ceroba, Starlo, Guardener, and Axis. However, not all of the characters can appear in the same fight. Ceroba can only appear in an Aborted Genocide Route, but in this route you don't fight Starlo or Guardener so those two can't show up. Also, his dialogue at the end is different depending on how many times you've fought him. The first time is what we see in this video. The second time he comments that it seems like you somehow are solving puzzles faster and traversing the area like you already know where you're going even though you shouldn't remember stuff, and he finds this weird. The third time he complains that you keep ending up here, and he ponders the option of waiting until another human falls. The fourth time (and all subsequent times), he gives the "Don't you have anything better to do?" line, but if the FUN value is 70 or greater he will instead say that he feels like they aren't alone even though they should be and alludes to the player's existence, but he gets cut off by the game glitching and going straight to the credits.
Now that was a strange fight. So many differing art styles were used. That’s an amazing way to make a flowey fight. Props to the devs for making it and props to Merg for making it though it!
Fun fact, throughout the fight, Flowey REMEMBERS who you killed, which you noticed, say if you killed dalv, a messed up dalv would be there. And Axis, Guardener, the list goes on for each boss.
I love how they just stopped doing the pixel art for the flowey fight like in undertale to make it seem more like flowey was out of place if that makes sense
If you want a bit more about Clover, go back to pacifist and shoot Ceroba at the end of that fight. You pressing MERCY there determines whether Clover forgives monsterkind for the deaths of the five kids. If you press FIGHT there, that shows Clover doesn't forgive Asgore, and you get a very different outcome.
I don't really get that. Why does sparing Ceroba mean that Clover forgives monsterkind and Asgore? Ceroba is, even if definitely punishable, also kinda forgivable. Like, she didn't actually kill any human, nor anyone besides her daughter by mistake. Clover may just consider that death is not the punishment she deserves, but I don't see a logical link between that and "I forgive monsterkind and want to sacrifice myself for their shake".
@@ivandreuxzuev9473idk but this is how i think of it: imagine this’ someone steals half a cake when there are three people and its your birthday. 22:20 Just some re-clarification. In Undertale, LV/LOVE and EXP is not Level and Experience Point. You don’t literally gain them from killing monsters, but by being more susceptible to violence. Keep this in mind during the Genocide route.
It would actually be weirder if Flowey DIDN'T give up on trying to be friendly. We know what he's like by the time Undertale happens, so it would be like having half a character arc. Also, I noticed anytime AXIS puts brackets around a word, it was him replacing a swear word.
I love this rendition of flowey not just because of the artstyles you go through but how much you are in the attack. Like running from him through levels you been through is cool.

At 42:23 if anyone is confused. In the original game flowey was asrial. The son of Asgor. When Asrial died, his dust was on a flower that the royal scientist tested on. He was brought back to life becuse of the determination but he had no soul and could not feel any emotion. He was scared and soon lost his mind. He called out to his family but no one answered. With the power to save and reset, he tried everything and soon got bored.

Hey merg here are some neat easter eggs from least to most important. Some of them I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss. 1) If you wait 5 minutes after being separated from Toriel she will come save you and flowey resets on spot 2) You can go back to snowdin near the end game and read Martlet's diary. 3) If you have all of the golden items there's a picture on the floor in the steamworks showing you the location of a hidden switch that leads to an epic boss fight. 4) In the steamworks there are cracks behind a shelf on the wall. This leads to a very interesting npc. And most importantly: 5) In pacifist route you can find a hidden tape burried behind Chujin's grave. I know you have already done pacifist but I'd recommend you search up what said tape contains as it really adds another layer to the whole story.
they did not have to go THAT hard with the flowey fight bro, also using audio samples from the same commercial that undertale sampled from for the flowey voice lines was very good attention to detail
57:28 i LOVE how flowey slowly looks up at the camera, like he _knows_ that there's something beyond his knowledge he doesn't know about. It's an unexpected, but much appreciated thing on the devs part.
It's interesting to look at what the songs names are in the ost for each of those minigame esque intermissions. They all start with the word "specimen: " followed by some sort of material related word- clay, paper, patchwork, mechanical, organic, and polygonal (basically a digital material in a way). What's more interesting is I've also heard- and another person agreed with this... But what if Flowey was being made into with diffrent materials by Alphys? What if he went through all of those types of creations before Alyphs just settled on a flower? For me, it's definately chilling to think about what Flowey went through now that I've played this game. Best nightmare fueled Flowey ever.
44:23 So basically, Flowey made black space. That's really what it feels like. Well, you know what they say! They never expect the double! Should have had the Omori Raft moment aswell...
Also whoever desighned floweys boss fight is a maniac, psycho, insane mayby suicidal Becouse theres no way a mentaly stable person decided to put this in the game (I dont mean it in a mean way,the art work is impressive)
Maybe the reason you get EXP from killing Axis is he's sentient, even though he's a robot? Also, a neat thing is that you can get 0 EXP neutral if you do pacifist until the Steamworks and then destroy robots except for Axis, and Martlet's dialogue in the neutral ending depends on LV, I think.
There is a reason for Axis giving EXP. You get told a bit of it in the murder run, but if you want all the details, there's a bonus tape you can find behind Chujin's grave in pacifist that'll explain it all.
I don't think Clover's EXP and LV is the same as Undertale's. I think Clover's EXP and LV is more based on how Justified they believe they are in their actions. All the normal monsters give you EXP for killing them because they are fully aware of themselves, but still attacked you first, proving to Clover that it is Just to kill them. Starlo gives a massive amount of EXP because after he spends an entire level befriending you he betrays you, a very Justified execution. The normal robots don't give any because they're literally robots, they're not aware of what they're doing. AXIS is clearly aware of what he's doing, and does it anyways. So his execution is Just as well, but not as much as Starlo's, so AXIS gives less EXP then Starlo did.
@@sheogorath6834 Okay, I'll spell it out for you to remove ALL mystery from it then Axis kills integrity SOUL. Chujin arrives, has Axis clean up the evidence and store the SOUL. Chujin uses extracts from the SOUL, including determination, to create the serum, and also uses the SOUL to upgrade Axis, quickly going from iteration 6 to interaction 14, despite not being given funding by the kingdom anymore. During this, it's likely Chujin, whether intentionally or accidentally, used power from the integrity SOUL to make Axis a monster SOUL, something that Alphys claimed was possible when she made Mettaton (but she was actually using a ghost the whole time). Therefore Axis is an actual monster and gives EXP when killed.
@@lefthandedscout9923 "During this, it's likely Chujin, whether intentionally or accidentally, used power from the integrity SOUL to make Axis a monster SOUL" Where it is even stated or even implied? "something that Alphys claimed was possible when she made Mettaton" She never said that. We don't even know what she told to Asgore. Anyways, she litterally said in one of her entry that creating a soul was impossible.
Thought to mention, Flowey only uses attacks of bosses and minibosses you killed, since you started blasting with Starlo and also killed Guardener and Axis, those 3 monsters had their attacks used by flowey, and the bosses he can use go all the way to that bat in the ruins (Martlet's attacks are I believe never used, as she flees if attacked too many times)
Even if I have a little bit of a soft spot for the Pacifist Route, I will happily admit that the Neutral Route holds its ground in its own perfectly chaotic and special way. I personally don’t like picking a favorite between these two routes since I love both strongly in too many different specific ways to have a finalized choice. That makes the decision more difficult, so I’ll put my mindset at “appreciating the differences equally” I enjoy watching videos of the other routes I haven’t carried out myself rather than do my own play through first as to pick out every detail I might’ve missed on my own by having to pull my attention towards dodging the attacks This route was pure artistic genius, wether that had to do with the story, the variety of art styles and the general fight itself. The horror aspects of Flowey’s battle genuinely made me uncomfortable in the best way possible and uniquely expanded on Flowey’s character, the culmination of an evil yet tragic (personality wise to be more specific on both) individual. It was nice to get a similar feel to the fight with Flowey in Undertale, and the little different additions from the developers in this game only amplified it The Undertale Yellow team really outdid themselves with this gem of a game, and the hard work is evident. This video broke me, the idea of no tomorrow and no point to live to is just to depressing to think of and this is the life of flowey, what is keeping humanity going is the curiosity of the unknown, we live to see to see tomorrow and experience it then move to the other, we don't have to think what happens after because we will die and that it self is unknown what's after but in flowey's world that is stripped away, there is no tomorrow and there is no end to reach, your a single point in a plain that has no end, you try to give your self a purpose by living every life there is until there is non to live for, then your lost in a meaningless world with no end and no purpose and this idealogy is too much for us humans to handle which really broke me mentally as I tried to envision my self in a similar life, I cried for an hour straight from just thinking about it so imagine living it, it brings me to be Thankful about the life I am living right now that has a purpose to strive to and an end to reach, may God help someone in flowey's position.

Theres actually 2 endings for you to do, not one. If you decide to kill ceroba in the pacifist ending, there will be a different ending with an extra boss

@@SuperSeasonChannel2003 the endings actually are

Flawed Pacifist (Pacifist but you kill Ceroba and Fight asgore)
Neutral

True pacifist
Flawed pacifist
Neutral
Aborted Geno (Ceroba replaces Starlo in Flowey' fight)
Geno
There is also the ending where you get back to the main ruins with Toriel.
The first flowey fight actually uses the enemies you killed against you.
In this case, Merg killed Starlo and Axis. (I forgot the other persons name), so Flowey used Starlo and Axis, that is honestly so cool.
Guardener

28:40 that bit made me relive my pure anger at Flowey from when he killed Asgore in Undertales neutral ending when he killed Martlet right there. Also, the bot having a French accent with the "the" replaced by "ze", and "is" replaced by "ez" is freaking genius, and really funny ! (But we really don't speak English this way. Some of us have a better accent. Please. 😭)

Hey merg here are some neat easter eggs from least to most important. Some of them I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss.
1) If you wait 5 minutes after being separated from Toriel she will come save you and flowey resets on spot
2) You can go back to snowdin near the end game and read Martlet's diary.
3) If you have all of the golden items there's a picture on the floor in the steamworks showing you the location of a hidden switch that leads to an epic boss fight.
4) In the steamworks there are cracks behind a shelf on the wall. This leads to a very interesting npc.
And most importantly:
5) In pacifist route you can find a hidden tape burried behind Chujin's grave. I know you have already done pacifist but I'd recommend you search up what said tape contains as it really adds another layer to the whole story.
"because i acted in self defense?" that got me laughing
Flowey is so cool in a terrifying kind of way!! That fight was crazy but also so well done!
they did not have to go THAT hard with the flowey fight bro, also using audio samples from the same commercial that undertale sampled from for the flowey voice lines was very good attention to detail
57:28 i LOVE how flowey slowly looks up at the camera, like he _knows_ that there's something beyond his knowledge he doesn't know about. It's an unexpected, but much appreciated thing on the devs part.
The pure joy in Merg's voice when he saw horse flowey
There are alot of secrets in this fangame. The place you found hidden behind the closet is just one of them. This game is so well detailed.
Awesome, so excited!! Keep up the good work Merg 😊
1:04:17 You cant kill martlet in neutral, when shes low she just runs away
It's interesting to look at what the songs names are in the ost for each of those minigame esque intermissions. They all start with the word "specimen: " followed by some sort of material related word- clay, paper, patchwork, mechanical, organic, and polygonal (basically a digital material in a way). What's more interesting is I've also heard- and another person agreed with this...
But what if Flowey was being made into with diffrent materials by Alphys? What if he went through all of those types of creations before Alyphs just settled on a flower?
For me, it's definately chilling to think about what Flowey went through now that I've played this game. Best nightmare fueled Flowey ever.
man the voice acting for flower was so good, thank you for this Merg
This is definitely my favorite ending out of all of them, because the music just goes hard
44:23 So basically, Flowey made black space.

For my own neutral run I originally planned to kill Starlo and Dance Guy, but after killing Starlo I was overcome with overwhelming guilt and reset.
Probably should have only killed dance guy, not starlo
i genuinely couldn't watch the aftermath of killing starlo
This game's neutral final boss is like ten times more insane if you play it without knowledge of Undertale.
"one more video before bed"

If i had to face off against flowey at clovers age i would never mentaly recover
Also whoever desighned floweys boss fight is a maniac, psycho, insane mayby suicidal
Becouse theres no way a mentaly stable person decided to put this in the game
(I dont mean it in a mean way,the art work is impressive)
if clover lived after neutral ending, they probably wouldn’t mentally recover
Well, you'd also be dead.
To be fair, I don't think anyone would mentally recover
Imagine the disappointment on Undyne's face when she killed Clover then remembered the souls need a container in order to not break
@@lefthandedscout9923 I don't see how the fact that Axis killed someone explain why he gave exp. The two have nothing to do with each other.
@@sheogorath6834 Okay, I'll spell it out for you to remove ALL mystery from it then
Axis kills integrity SOUL.
That makes the decision more difficult, so I’ll put my mindset at “appreciating the differences equally”
I enjoy watching videos of the other routes I haven’t carried out myself rather than do my own play through first as to pick out every detail I might’ve missed on my own by having to pull my attention towards dodging the attacks
This route was pure artistic genius, wether that had to do with the story, the variety of art styles and the general fight itself. The horror aspects of Flowey’s battle genuinely made me uncomfortable in the best way possible and uniquely expanded on Flowey’s character, the culmination of an evil yet tragic (personality wise to be more specific on both) individual. It was nice to get a similar feel to the fight with Flowey in Undertale, and the little different additions from the developers in this game only amplified it
The Undertale Yellow team really outdid themselves with this gem of a game, and the hard work is evident. It will be nice to see what other ideas could come up in the future, there are so many great possibilities
