After giving birth, her body continues to hold on to water because of an increase in progesterone. You may notice the swelling in ones hands, arms, feet, ankles, and legs. Edema shouldn't last much longer than a week after delivery. Walk around, Avoid standing for long, Avoid taking processed food for they contain high amounts of sodium which can cause bloating and aggravate postpartum swelling, Use a postpartum girdle, Get adequate sleep and drink a lot of water and fluids
