Most of today’s shows are what I call Tonnage, meaning it’s not the writers or directors fault, but the executives and owners who don’t give enough creative freedom and constantly want them to work on a tight schedule, so they can sell merchandise
Yeah, I know. For ex., I think I know what happened after that lamp landed on Dr. Bob's head. Maybe, he was starting to feel a little ""light"-"headed"!!!
The Duck Patient sketch was the origin of the whole the continuing story of a Quack who's gone to the dogs catchphrase that would be used in later seasons.
Jerry Nelson only performed the announcer only three times this season. I sat there and I counted. Mainly because he was not involved in ALL of Season 1, due to Sesame Street stuff, and so, they had to have John Lovelady be the announcer.
Hut-sut Rawlson on the Rillerah, and a so on, so on, so forth, Hut-sut Rawlson on the Rillerah, and a so on-, Oh! I still can't get the words to that song!

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I feel like I'm the only one that prefers when they don't laugh at their own jokes and just look at the audience with a huge smile on their faces. As an old director of mine used to say: Let the "audience" laugh.
The ones that started with them getting fucked up off the anesthesia must of didn't get much replay here in the US because I don't remember that at all.
Head Muppet writer Jerry Juhl talked of how Rowlf was relegated to a background character on The Muppet Show because Jim Henson couldn't play both at once. But he still shines in these scenes.
It is a bit strange though to see these early Vet Hospital sketches with different actors voicing Nurse Piggy and Nurse Janice. Still funny stuff, but just strange.
Wish there'd been an episode where it ended like this: NARRATOR: Tune in next time when we hear Nurse Piggy say... PIGGY: Who is he talking to? How does he make his voice DO that?
itiswhatitaint anditaintwhatitis Frank Oz couldn't perform two characters at the same time so Richard Hunt, who performed Janice, performed Piggy when he couldn't. Another performer performed Janice when Hunt couldn't.
I don't know why something as simple as them all looking for where the narrator's voice is coming from is so funny!
It's all in the delivery.
do you need to know why for it to be funny
@@victorhernandez8723 you said it they just don't make TV like they used to
It always made me laugh!
This always was my favorite sketch on the show. It taught me to love terrible puns at a young age.
For ex., do you know why the main doctor's a dog??
It's b/c he's a ""laboratory" retriever"!!!
"He should see a doctor."
"But you ARE a doctor"
"That's your opinion, I'm getting outta here!"

"And now, Veterinarian's Hospital: the continuing story of a quack who's gone to the dogs."

And now Wizard Hospital " the Continuing story of a Quack as gone to the Animagus.
That must make him a bird dog! Usually a quack is what you get when you have a duck for a doctor!

This sketch succeeds in telling bad jokes in a funny way where most of today's shows fail miserably.

Chumpy the Anteater
Sounds accurate.
The difference is this show knew they were bad, while modern shows legitimately think their bad jokes are actually funny.
Laughter truly is the best medicine.

The Muppets are funny that they make us laugh!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Loved this show as a kid still love the Muppets
I love janice and rowlf, and see both in a sketch is always enjoyable to me
Apart from miss Peggy's karate chops and gonzo's flops, veterinarian's hospital was the best part of the muppet show
Parents would let their 5 year-old kids watch this, thinking they'd get the jokes. 45 years later, they were finally proven right. 🤣
Good thing that it has been put together, one sketch was never enough for me ❤️
