Being from San Antonio Texas ain't nothing too hot for me...... Love it when it's like 80 degrees out and people are crying that it's hot and I'm like oh, just wait for the summer....... It can easily get to 100+ in the summer here...... Of course also being from this temp, I'm kind of a camel...... No need to really hydrate...... Just make sure if you're not from a state like this, you better be hydrating like crazy because if you say you've been drinking alot of water, you probably haven't and will go down from heat stroke or heat exhaution
That's my problem. I work in the hot ass sun in an uninsulated, un air conditioned shop, fuckin soaked and cant keep dry enough like a the god damn amazon jungle lol. Thank god they take all this unto consideration, because rashes, heat exhaustion, are a fucking bitch
This is my last WBY video before BMT. Thank you for providing these great informational videos about the Air Force and specifically BMT, they've helped me a lot. Looking forward to binge watching your videos at tech school. Can't wait to begin this new adventure!
+WildBlueYonder I'm shipping out June 28th. My first day of basic is the 4th of July lol. I'll be right in the middle of summer. Looking forward to the heat!
When I went to basic in 1984, I was there during the last few days of September, all of October & some of November. & a lot of those days it got rather warm. NO AC back then...lol.
Now, I think it's nice that the Air Force has a little more "relaxed" approach to PT. Who likes to run 3+ miles in the blazing heat anyway? I know I don't. But at the same time, this is why the other branches make fun of us. We have some of the coolest and most important jobs out there, and yet we're seen as the weakest branch. I think that it couldn't hurt to ramp up the physical training even though we're not a combat branch. It wouldn't be fun at all, but at least we could say we can do it, that we're fit to kick some Army/Naval butt.
I went to BMT Jan-March so I was stuck in that "switch" from Winter Schedule to Summer Schedule. It threw us off a little but it wasn't bad. I actually enjoyed getting PT out of the way so early. Also, I think the time we woke up changed too.
Even though its hot DURING BMT in the summer months...will you still be issued winter gear for later on in your Air Force career when it does become cold??
Good question! Everyone going to BMT, regardless of time of year, will be given at a minimum: a rain parka, black gloves, and a full PT set. However, the rest of your winter gear will be provided to the summer trainees at their first base or tech school when needed
I'm from Montana. And this bipolar state can fit all four seasons in one day. No joke, it's happened a lot lol. Right now I'm talking to an Air Force recruiter and hope I can ship out sooner than I want. But not everything happens how you want but I'm excited.
did my summer boot in may 1985. omg!! heat was raising on the pad. we had to at ease march a lot. i remember seeing guys falling out in formation. they fell on their face and chipped a tooth and suffered a concussion. p t in the am in the dark but it was never too hot because the sun was not up yet. when it came up it got hot fast and by the third week we were used to the heat and yes,you must drink water before every meal. two small glasses of water no ice.... fun times,...3701 squadron.
if you get hot with your beanie or jacket on can you take them off during pt? Or does that mean everybody would have to take off their hat and jacket too?
+rsw003 Good question! Well, you have to make that decision once you line up on the pad and finish stretching. Once you start PT, you have to keep on what you have on.
I’m trying to join the end of the year. So I could get the winter bmt. I experienced cold weather in New York so I should be fine haha. To bad they don’t have hot chocolate
idk if you have already but you should make a video about shopping for grocery,s. I heard its cheaper and we arent charged tax. (Im set to leave for bootcamp in June)
+Alec Gobel Although it is tax free, some of the prices can be lower or higher than other grocery stores. So you just have to know what to buy and where
I love I. San Antonio, arc in the summer the wether is USUALLY anywhere from 70-mid 90's. MAYBE once a week it'll get in the 100's. If you're used to being in a cold environment It'll be hot for you lol. The cold months are usually November & December it USUALLY is anywhere from 30-65 sometimes 70's
hey WildBlueYonder, I know this is off topic from your video, I have some questions out of curiously about Elmendorf AFB! Should i ask them here or email you? Thanks!
You can do as many push ups and sit ups as you want. We did our 1by3s before each meal and inbetween breaks during class time. But you aren't allowed to run without a medical provider there. So running is off limits. There's also supplemental PT but depending on your squadron, they'll only let people who are failing their PT tests go.
Everybody, I'm in process of joining. Tell me, how long was the process from the first meeting with your recruiter to getting a BMT ship date. I really hope I can be going by August! Thanks!
+Roy Jones I started talking to a recruiter this January, went to MEPS in March and still haven't got a ship date. The time span really depends on the job you want, if everything goes good with your physical at meps, and how good your recruiter is about keeping up with things. Good luck!
+Roy Jones It took me a year from when I first talked to my recruiter to my ship date. I enlisted when I was a junior in high school, though. Normally you're in DEP for about 6 or so months.
Started talking to a recruiter Dec 2015 took my ASVAB a month later cause I was gone on vacation. Started loosing weight then took my physical Mar 22 swore in Mar 28 ship date July 26. My process I relatively quick because I choose a mechanical job and I am enlisting from an Air Force base overseas and there is no MEPS station here, just the clinic.
Christopher, joined as a Junior in HS, completed MEPS on July 31st of 2017, graduate HS sometime around May of 2018, and ship date is September 4th. I had quite a while.
Weird question. So I have a hard time sleeping and I can only sleep in my boxers because I love when it's cold because I can't sleep when it's hot so I'm asking if during bmt could you sleep without a shirt or ?
+WildBlueYonder thanks bro one more question how much running you do ? Because I wanna enlist but I had so many knee injurys and if I over run I'll get tendinitis in my knees and I don't wanna over run and get a injury
I'm currently waiting to leave for BMT on May 31st. I am researching jobs to get a better idea of what I want to choose when I get to BMT. (Because I am listed at an aptitude) Do you know anyone who does Aero Space Propulsion. Is there anything information you could get from them to help me out?
+Christian Barnes But for now, basically props just inspect, install/remove, maintain, and do operational checks on different engines. You'll learn about the basics in tech school, and then be trained further on a certain aircraft, then you'll be stationed at a base with that aircraft. It looks like a pretty sweet job. You get to run up engines and do checks. Sometimes the engines catch on fire, so that's cool. Just stay out of the jet blast area and you should be fine haha
+mijah burns are you going active? I leave in June..I'm reserves. I took the asvab in Sept with the Army then decided I wanted to be an Airman...so thats why my timeline seems long
+CoCo F im all late my bad but active duty i was suppose to been take the asvab already 2 diff. times but stuff keep coming up with my recruiter so i take at a facility thrusday
+CoCo F lol it is a little frustrating but as a person she's cool so I'm pretty patient but I do want to take it already like damn I keep mentally preparing myself and then I can't take it but i look at as God aint want me to take it yet lol
Weird question. How does using the bathroom work? Like is it regulated? What if you have to go during PT or during your meals and what not? How does it work?
I graduated BMT on January 8th, I was wondering the same thing before I got there. Going to the bathroom is not regulated. You pretty much go when you need to. The main thing is you must have a wingman with you at all times! It would probably be best to go before PT starts though.
+BritNaeForever No you just need to get a wingman to go with you. You really won't be given a hard time. I guess it depends on the MTI though. Ours wasn't so bad about that kind of thing.
+Keren Awesome! I'm trying to herd people to our shipping group on Facebook. If you look up USAF BMT June 2016, you'll find a closed group with other recruits leaving on certain days of June.
+Ke'auna Pass Horrible! Haha. When you line up, try to be one of the first 100 people. Trying to say your reporting statement makes you feel like you're swallowing bottles of Mace. Lol. and the sweat left over after doing jumping jacks before taking your mask off let's the gas linger on your face. but the walk you take after calms your body down really well... and you start feeling better really quickly.
+Mi Nombre HUA! nothing to be afraid of youllbe fine. They will make staying hydrated a PRIORITY! if it is black flag conditions you'll only March at ease and only do Drill under an overhang. notjaredd jersey don’t usually get cold in the winter like that
This is my last WBY video before BMT. Thank you for providing these great informational videos about the Air Force and specifically BMT, they've helped me a lot. Looking forward to binge watching your videos at tech school. Can't wait to begin this new adventure!
good luck man!
+1998devyn Thanks man!
+Cameron LA Good luck Cameron!
+WildBlueYonder I'm shipping out June 28th. My first day of basic is the 4th of July lol. I'll be right in the middle of summer. Looking forward to the heat!
how did it go?
I love that you're so direct in your videos!
I was bred in fire and ice, no environment will best me!
checht69 lol
When I went to basic in 1984, I was there during the last few days of September, all of October & some of November. & a lot of those days it got rather warm. NO AC back then...lol.
My Air Force basic military training was in December of 1992, just now getting around to this video. Great info. LOL
Love your videos, great advice for basic!

Ditto!
+Tabitha Schultz we are a combat branch though.
+WildBlueYonder Do you have a twitter?
Seems silly to change the focus of our mission because of what some meat heads in other branches think of our PT standards.
Thats why we have Spec Ops bro
-The Strong Shall Stand
I went to BMT Jan-March so I was stuck in that "switch" from Winter Schedule to Summer Schedule. It threw us off a little but it wasn't bad. I actually enjoyed getting PT out of the way so early. Also, I think the time we woke up changed too.
I was planning on going for the same time. Would you have rather gone at a different time?
I leave may 3rd i was wondering about the heat but its a dope video bro thanks.
Can't stand the heat, I'm still going through. This is something I love
Can u make a video about like what happens when you get pulled over while driving while in the air force etc. Love your videos. Thanks
congrats on 10000 subs!
Even though its hot DURING BMT in the summer months...will you still be issued winter gear for later on in your Air Force career when it does become cold??

Weird question but did you live in Port St Lucie Florida at one point in your life?
I'm from Montana. And this bipolar state can fit all four seasons in one day. No joke, it's happened a lot lol. Right now I'm talking to an Air Force recruiter and hope I can ship out sooner than I want. But not everything happens how you want but I'm excited.
Sargeant Noodle I’m from there too! Montana weather is crazy lol
Southern West Virginia weather is awful
did my summer boot in may 1985. omg!! heat was raising on the pad. we had to at ease march a lot. i remember seeing guys falling out in formation. they fell on their face and chipped a tooth and suffered a concussion. p t in the am in the dark but it was never too hot because the sun was not up yet. when it came up it got hot fast and by the third week we were used to the heat and yes,you must drink water before every meal. two small glasses of water no ice.... fun times,...3701 squadron.

I don't think they ever canceled it because it was too cold. They made us do pt with the parka and liner on.
I’m trying to join the end of the year. So I could get the winter bmt. I experienced cold weather in New York so I should be fine haha. To bad they don’t have hot chocolate
So, Wild blue yonder did you went to BMT on Summer or on Winter? what was your experience. I think I would like to go on winter.
Idali Beltre Acevedo how was it???
idk if you have already but you should make a video about shopping for grocery,s. I heard its cheaper and we arent charged tax. (Im set to leave for bootcamp in June)
+Alec Gobel Although it is tax free, some of the prices can be lower or higher than other grocery stores. So you just have to know what to buy and where
I’m looking for BMT dates for the winter since I won’t be 18 till July and I don’t see anything
I love I. San Antonio, arc in the summer the wether is USUALLY anywhere from 70-mid 90's. MAYBE once a week it'll get in the 100's. Thanks!
Hi Cheyenne, you can ask them here or if you'd like you can email me at codenamesimmons @ gmail !
Leaving July 2nd cant wait!
Is there anyway that I can get in extra workouts?
You can do as many push ups and sit ups as you want. We did our 1by3s before each meal and inbetween breaks during class time. But you aren't allowed to run without a medical provider there. +Nicholas Rincon Just training and briefings and stuff. I never went through it myself, but from what I hear it's nothing super life changing
Everybody, I'm in process of joining. Tell me, how long was the process from the first meeting with your recruiter to getting a BMT ship date. I really hope I can be going by August!

Hey. Where's the infamous background music?
Weird question. So I have a hard time sleeping and I can only sleep in my boxers because I love when it's cold because I can't sleep when it's hot so I'm asking if during bmt could you sleep without a shirt or ?
You can wear as much or as little clothes as you want, you just can't be naked lol I think they had a rule about being naked
+WildBlueYonder thanks bro one more question how much running you do ? Because I wanna enlist but I had so many knee injurys and if I over run I'll get tendinitis in my knees and I don't wanna over run and get a injury
+WildBlueYonder I mean I could run about 2 miles everyday and I can run 5 miles too but I have to pace my self and do it slow if Ima run allot
Well honestly I ran a hell of a lot more before/during basic than I do currently. But for good reason, anyways, I try to run about twice a week
in winter we did pt in the full suit with parkas (liner) watch cap and gloves and we still freezing our butt off, better than summer though
why

I'm currently waiting to leave for BMT on May 31st. I am researching jobs to get a better idea of what I want to choose when I get to BMT. (Because I am listed at an aptitude) Do you know anyone who does Aero Space Propulsion. Is there anything information you could get from them to help me out?

+incxalx3 thank you hun

+mijah burns tell dude get his shit together holding your process up
+CoCo F lol it is a little frustrating but as a person she's cool so I'm pretty patient but I do want to take it already like damn I keep mentally preparing myself and then I can't take it but i look at as God aint want me to take it yet lol
Leaving for BMT May 31st ✊

anyone joining as security forces leaving this month?
Weird question. How does using the bathroom work? Like is it regulated? What if you have to go during PT or during your meals and what not? How does it work?
good question! I'd like to know that too
+sweetlikecandy1261 .
I graduated BMT on January 8th, I was wondering the same thing before I got there. Going to the bathroom is not regulated. You pretty much go when you need to. The main thing is you must have a wingman with you at all times! It would probably be best to go before PT starts though.
+McMustache if you're to go during PT because you just CANNOT hold it anymore, will you get yelled at or given a hard time?
+BritNaeForever No you just need to get a wingman to go with you. You really won't be given a hard time. I guess it depends on the MTI though. Ours wasn't so bad about that kind of thing.
Am I the only person who actually prefers to eat a meal and drink water before a strenuous workout?
you should make a video about tattoos.
what the height to join the air force
+Tiann heath (Tiann's Life) you dont need to be a specific height just weight so google air force weight and height chart and check it out

+Keren Awesome! I'm trying to herd people to our shipping group on Facebook. If you look up USAF BMT June 2016, you'll find a closed group with other recruits leaving on certain days of June.

Didn't they get rid of beast week?
+Zanidgar nope, they just moved the schedule around
No they still have it... it's just a little different now. The obstacle course has changed a lot.
Fran West What has changed about it?
First 1. Hey!!!😂😂
You put your piece of tape on your Web belt now. We only wore helmets at night for Tent Guard.
+Fran West Dang.that is crucial😂. What's your mos?
+Ke'auna Pass my AFSC is Financial Management Comptroller.
+Fran West Thank you for your service💯💯👌
I leave July 11th to bmt
i feel bad for those who have to go through during the summer.. beast is going to suck
I leave August 1st!! Hopefully it's not super super hot
I live it Texas. good luck with that. usually June- September it's super hot with July and August being the worse
I leave August 16th.
I just graduated in May and we were having black flag like once a week. I'm sure at the beginning of your BMT it'll be pretty hot... just HYYYYDRATE.
I leave the 5th of July :(
+The ElektriK Same! what's your job?
I went to BMT August 4 2015 it was over 100 degrees the day we got there. Majority of our days there it was black flag.
did it cool down at all on September?
+Stephen Ash in*
+Stephen Ash no not even to really make a difference.
+lamont johnson this actually worries me because I leave for BMT 1 August ...
+Mi Nombre HUA! nothing to be afraid of youllbe fine. They will make staying hydrated a PRIORITY! if it is black flag conditions you'll only March at ease and only do Drill under an overhang. The new dorms are nice and layed out really well. I was at the old 331st Squadron "Wolf pack". The best thing I can tell you is dry heat is a lot better than having a lot of humidity and makes it more bearable.
I hate the heat so I’m going in winter 🖤
Tiffany Barbaud my bmt is December 17
david varner we ship the same day
June 28 anyone?
+matt r (mattrfilms) Yup! I'm leaving June 28th and my first day will be the 4th of July.

Summer is the worst
