    Man I hate that people which always is looking for a new mice or phone instead of searching for a solution about how to fix it, I don't even think if they think if there's a solution, very good video srry my english

      This process takes lots of time to receive parts, learn process, and execute... If you have a job in a first world country then it's not worth the time. It's good to have the tools and knowhow though so I still encourage it, but no need to hate people for valuing their time.

    Great guide! I also had a lot of difficulty removing the old middle button switch, even while using the desoldering wick and adding a bit solder to desolder. Eventually I decided it was easier to just cut off the legs from the old switch from the top side using small flush cut wire cutters. Then I had access on both sides to remove the original solder and the legs. So I could just about drag/push out the legs using the soldering iron since the switch was no longer in the way.
    Also recommend getting the a few left/right mouse button switches ordered from digikey, since shipping does cost the most and you may develop double click issues in the future.

    Just a quick comment to say thank you! I have the same mouse and the middle button was becoming unreliable. After I saw your video I went and bought a soldering iron/micro switch and fixed it in about an hour. The hardest part, by far, was trying to desolder the microswitch.. there's so little room, the legs are bent (by design) and it was really tricky to suck all the solder and get it out. Had to add more solder and pull it out with pliers. Maybe solder wick could help, but that part of it nearly caused me to give up so tips in removal of tricky surface mount components would be super useful.. Glad I didn't give up as it now works fine! Thank you VERY much, I am glad not to add to the e-waste pile...

    +1 on repairing electronics and computer mice. Helped my best friend change the left and right click switches on his G300s last month.
    The middle mouse button is one I'm not too fond of as I've encountered a bunch of mice whose scroll encoders got broken (not registering scroll, twitching scroll, loose wheel, etc) because of the tilting of the scroll wheel on the scroll encoder mechanism.
    On my G102 I remaped the DPI button for middle mouse to avoid that issue, though said G102 has suffered from the crappy Omron switches Logitech uses so I had to get them all swapped out for Huano Blue Shell White Dot switches.

    Thanks! I'm ordering a few of these switches today. I have two G602's. One at home and one at work. My work mouse recently stopped responding to middle clicks unless I press really hard. I did find some temporary fixes like blowing really hard over the mouse wheel with your mouth or using contact cleaner spray, but it doesn't last very long. A tip for removing small amounts of solder like these 4 pins - use solder wick instead of a solder sucker. I find to be much easier than a solder sucker. Lots of UA-cam tutorials for using solder wick. It's cheap too. Solder suckers are good for removing large globs of solder, but a wick will completely clean the solder from the pin-hole on the PCB making it super easy to pull the switch out.

    Thank you for this! I also have a G602 and have had it for almost 10 years now. My middle button probably stopped working 2 years into owning it, but I just love this thing I didn’t want to get rid of it. I bought some spare buttons off of AliExpress for very cheap, and followed your guide. I ran into a small issue getting the original button out, since the contact points are so small, but some precision flux and solder wick did the trick for me.

    Thank you bro. You helped me find the B3F-1000 scroll wheel click button.
    BTW, for all the people out there, it's the same standard for basically all mice. So, you can take a click button/switch or middle click button and replace it in almost any mouse.

    • @ultraali453

      Yes, you're right. Add a bit of solder for better heat exchange before using the desoldering pump to remove the molten solder.

    • @grahamlewis6777
      @grahamlewis6777 2 роки тому

      wish I read your comment before my attempt! In the end it was still hard to suck all the solder. Had to pull the microswitch while melting the solder. So tricky. Any tips on making removal easier welcome! Took me ages as the solder joints were tiny

    • @bullzebub
      @bullzebub 2 роки тому

      @@grahamlewis6777 if you are going to replace a switch... dont remove the solder. no need. add some extra solder and try to heat atleast 2 legs at the same time as you gently pull on the switch. after removal you can try to suck the old solder or just heat the pad and then tap the board against the table.

    I hate to get away from my G602. The middle button needs fixing, and the left click needs fixing... I don't want to give it up, as it's so good. I've had it for something like 9 years I think. So.. after about a year and half of putting it off, I bought an Corsair Dark PRO RGB SE.... the wheel stopped working within 15 days. I had it replaced with a new one... anddddd... that wheel broke (intermittent scroll) within 30 days. Unbelievable. Same fault, two 100 dollar mice. Honestly.. I want to smash the damn thing even though it's a month old (p.s. the inbuilt battery only lasts about 4 days!!). I went back to my G602. So.. since I already solder circuit boards for a side project, I might just replace the buttons. Thanks for the little guide.

    G602 is indeed a great mouse. The first I bought was in Apr 2018 for $38 from the US Dept. of Amazon. I bought another in Jul 2019 for $36 due to misplacing the receiver, and buying a new mouse cost only a couple dollars more than just buying a replacement receiver. Also got the hard case for $11 ($16 now). Currently, the mouse is obsoleted/discontinued, and the same listing has the mouse at $165. Looks like the G604 has replaced it, for $62 currently. The G604 is a single AA with the option of using either bluetooth or the 'Lightspeed' dongle. I was excited at first that Lightspeed is integrated into several other products, including an RGB keyboard. But alas, unlike the unifying receiver, Lightspeed devices need a dedicated transceiver.
    My G602 middle mouse button has recently become intermittent. I believe I'm still using the same mouse from 2018, since I had customized the buttons, which requires US Dept. of Microsoft Windows. I'll probably end up getting the G604 for the Bluetooth feature, which will reduce my used USB ports on my laptop by 1 while travelling. I'll still fix the G602. Replacement glider pads are available for $7. Or maybe I'll drill holes into the pads to make future repairs easier...
    Thanks for the video showing where the screws are located!

      Yeah. I still love it. but it is getting grimy at this point with the rubber on the top breaking off.
      I do like that all in one dongle solution. I am using a logitech keyboard that uses it. I suppose if my mouse dies for good I know what to get.

    sometimes mouse button is just covered in dirt or (Gamer gunk) just blow as hard as you can down the side (this might only work if your button still clicks occasionally or on a hard press)

    My son's middle mouse button got unresponsive. It's weird they use push buttons, but ok. I tried replacing by a push button i have here, and it turns out the one i put in has much more tension and needs extra force to be pushed, so the push button is of a different kind. I will try the same model you have used. (How did you learned about the model ? There's nothing written on mine). Thanks !

    i have a razer deathadder chroma with a not functioning middle mouse click (only registers once every 20 clicks or so), and after watching this video i decided to try and fix it myself as the warranty for this thing expired long ago so in the worst case scenario im down on my $20 amazon gift card for the solder kit and i have to buy a new mouse.
    for my middle mouse click microswitch i bought mine from aliexpress since i could only find it there (and either digikey didn't have it or i just didn't search for it correctly. i hope it's the former because otherwise i may have overspent by $2 lol). now i just have to wait for the kit and the button to arrive. looks like the button's gonna come in 30-50 days though unfortunately lol

    Cheap button but 80 USD shipping to South Africa lol.. I'm sure i can source them at a local electronics shop tho. Mine is only the Logitech M235 cheapie and it's now over 10 years old with daily use so it's served me really well but still, I don't want to have to replace it. The downside to the cheapie is that I can't seem to get it open without having to destroy the whole housing! No screws, no real seams either, I can't tell where to pry it apart

    ** BEFORE YOU BUY A SOLDERING IRON AND A NEW BUTTON **
    Buy a can of contact cleaner or WD-40. Carefully spray a little it on the button and click the button a few times to work that liquid into the inner parts of the button. 90% chance that your button will work fine again. The button will wear out eventually but this method will keep it going for a while longer before you have to actually replace it.
