I used to meet up with some women every couple of months at our fire station community room to dye yarn and fiber. We used Jacquard dyes, which work beautifully. It was always a blast.
Hi Annie, I love watching your videos after work as it's very relaxing. Have you thought about making a pouch for your glasses or a travel mug sleeve? It is a good option for scratchy yarn.😊
Hi!! Thank you so much for watching (: I love that idea! I've made a glasses pouch with a pattern from Dogwood crochet before and I loved it! But a mug sleeve is a great idea for the yarn I dyed in this video!
My idea for your scratchy wool yarn is some house slippers! I have a pair of slippers (the wanderers slippers from Andrea Mowry) and the yarn I used (wool of the Andes by knit picks) is a bit scratchier than I would want for a sweater/close to my neck sort of garment, but in the slippers its wonderful because it holds up to wear and becomes very comfortable once you wear them a couple times and it starts to felt together a bit.
Goodness 1. You’re so pretty all the time- how do you pull it off so flawlessly… 2. I’m so worried about your cute sweater getting dye on it at 6:05 I’m over here like TAKE THE SWEATER OFFFfffff- as i pull my hair. 3. Wheew the sweater survived. I can breathe easy now. 4. The colors are very pretty and yeah ball winding can be a tedious chore
I think I've seen these in Joann's on the endcap. I live in Texas in the desert part and I'd most likely pick the cotton or acrylic. Let the yarn dying begin!!
Now I need to be dying some yarns 🤣 You should try loom band making bracelets, it's simple and it really undwinds me especially when my hands and arms are SOOO tired of crocheting!
It looked like noodles! 😂 the colors turned up super pretty! Maybe you can make leg warmers? You could doble strand and make a knitted beanie (if it'not too scratchy or itchy for the ears and forehead), or even a vest. Can't wait to see what you make! ❤
SO FUN! I will say, I LOVE getting out my swift and winder….the swift made a ginormous difference. JUST HUGE. This makes me want to try the cotton! Lol. And kool aid and flowers and stuff….ugh. There’s a website - something like yarn to dye for or similar - that has amazing varieties of bases. Just a thought! Also, Cabin Boy Knits does 100% natural dyes which is super cool to watch. I’m obsessed, Annie. Le sigh. 😉🧡🧡🧡
Yay, so glad you liked this video!! 🥰I DEFINITELY need to get a swift already!! Thank you so much for the recommendations, I'm going to have to check them out!! Wishing you a great week! ❤
I think the kit is a rip off. You only get 205 yards of yarn and if you buy just a regular skein of the fishermans wool it is 465 yards for like $13.00. I prefer Knit Picks yarn for dying. You did a great job and it came out really pretty. I like to dye with food coloring and kool-aid. You dont need that kit. You cant dye cotton with it though. To stop the crunch use a yarn wash or a gentle dish soap like 7th generation. Also Fishermans wool is always scratchy. But a good yarn wash will help with that. Chemnitz is my favorite yarn dyer on UA-cam.
This is a really good point! I should've discussed the price more in this video. Thank you so much for sharing all of the helpful info, I really appreciate it!! (:
My creative brain wants to do this soooo bad. Definitely working on my self discipline. I will buy all the things to dye all the yarn 😆. Thanks for this fun video!

Oh my! This video was so exciting for me! I have been thinking about hand dying my own yarn as well and this might have just pushed me to get on it!
Yay I'm so glad you liked this video, thanks for watching! You definitely have to try, it's way too fun! (:
Turned out awesome! Nice colors! Maybe you can make a hair bandana or scrunchie so it won’t be next to skin?
Thank you so much!! I love the scrunchie idea!!
Loved, loved this weeks vlog !! Great job, learned a lot 😀
Yay, thank you so much for watching! (:
You should make it a rag sins it is scratchy it who'd be perfect for woshing dishes.

Mittens. Or fingerless mitts. They would be warm, and wool is naturally water resistant.
That's a great idea, thank you! I've been wanting to knit some mittens!
Thanks for sharing. This was fun to watch.
Thank you for watching (:
I think that it is so cool you are branching out ❤
Aww thank you so much!! (:
