Brioche Knit Tips: Brioche 4 Stitch Decrease (br4st dec)

- This is a demo of the Brioche 4 Stitch Decrease, used to create a centered decrease in brioche or tuck stitch knitting. It turns 5 stitches in to 1. Some instructions call for a cable needle or a locking stitch marker to do this stitch, but I find it easier without one. The standard written and chart notation are shown as well as how to form the stitch.
Written instructions for this decrease: br4st dec - Slip 1st (brK w/ YO) and 2nd (plain) sts knitwise separately, then slip them back to left hand needle together through front loop, sts have now traded positions. Slip next 3 sts (5 wraps - plain stitch, brK w/ YO, brK w/ YO) knitwise together; with left hand needle, knit into next 2 sts (3 wraps - plain stitch, brK w/ YO) and pass slipped sts over (4 sts dec'd).

Great video! Thank you for this easier version! The written instructions are missing a step that is in the video starting at 2:16 minutes: With left hand needle, slip first stitch on RH needle back to LH needle (through front loop), so it can be worked in the next step. Then, Knit 3 sts together (4 loops). Pass sl sts over (4 loops) over to complete decrease.
Thank you for this tutorial.
I'm really dreading the decrease using a cable needle and/or stitch marker.
Hugs!
