I'm still new to DE and gradually trying to improve my technique, but nonetheless, the use of a brush and a bowl have improved my cartridge shaves. I never want to go back to gel and foam. I've got a small selection of nice soaps and creams and at the moment I'm pairing off two against each other to see which one delivers the best. I put D R Harris Marlborough against Geo F Trumper Limes this week and if I'm honest Trumper edged it. I think I've said before Kevy, Don Youngner aka Wet The Face shows how to produce a fantastic lather in all his videos and it is so worth giving two minutes to work a great lather which in turn rewards the shave. Great video anyway my man, keep it up!

    Hi Kevy,
I had the exact same razor, the exact same clogging, until one day I was so mad and I said: "I need a razor with one blade!!" and then I had the epiphany and started looking into DE shaving.
Everything is just so much better now.

      Hi Kevy,
This message is quite old. I was encouraging you with your first video's, but look at your collection now, it is huge. huge collection of video's but it pales to your collection of shaving products. congratulations.
I've celebrated my 1st year of DE shaving a month ago! You are coming up to your own anniversary I think?
These days my routine is a little more streamlined. No preshave, 2 passes, with and against, some cleanup on the chin, some witch hazel and some AF and done. I use blades about 10 shaves now, no irritation even in my sensitive neck area. I have about 10 soaps, cella and proraso remain my favorite, I have about 10 razors, the merkur 29c and gillette slim adjustable have probably seen the most use.
Sometimes I take extra time for a shave and do the whole thing and 3+ passes.
If you want more views, I think you should share your videos a bit more active on the other social media platform. I only rarely see a video of you popping up on facebook, but that is how I first found out about you.

You should do a shave with that now and see whether DE techniques can improve a cart shave.

Hi Arthur. Great to hear you're enjoying shaving this way. Yes Ian is spot on! This is a great hobby to get into but some people get caught up buying loads of shaving related gear. I might add that I'm not one of those...yeah right!! Ian is a great guy to chat with and he ha a brilliant shop for wet shaving gear. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. I might catch you one day in the Gentleman's a Groom Room. Cheers. Kevy 👍

I had this exact same razor! I used it along with Edge gel shaving cream. Problem was I never got a really good shave from it. I tried every razor from A to Z and still never got a really good shave. Then one day I remembered my Dad had a safety razor that he quit using 30 years ago. I found it, cleaned it up, bought some new razor blades for it and have been shaving with it ever since! His razor was a 1986 Gillette Black Beauty Adjustable razor and it gives me the closest smoothest shaves I've ever had!! I was afraid of it at first but now I've got the hang of it :-) All of my nicks, cuts, razor bumps, razor rash, and razor burn disappeared after I quit using cartridge razors and switched to DE Wet Shaving!!

That's a fantastic story. Great to hear you're enjoying DE shaving and even better that you're using a razor that your dad used. Brilliant! Thanks for sharing. Cheers. Kevy 👍

Thanks man! My Dad is gone but it's almost like he gave me a sign from Heaven to go and find his Black Beauty! You always put up fantastic videos that are very helpful. For years I HATED shaving but now I look forward to it. Well I'm 50 and if I don't shave then everyone calls me sir in public because of all the white hair on my face :-) Keep up the good work!

DRock6906 Hey, white hair on the face is the new black hairs on the face! At least that's my excuse! Great your dads razor is still being used, fantastic. Have a great weekend. Kevy 😀

Yep, been there, done that! I remember having to brush out my cartridge razors because they clogged so quickly.
When I started shaving with a DE razor, the clouds parted and I never looked back. DE razors absolutely destroy plastic cartridge razors. The DE razors provide a better shave, and they don't clog up.

Glad to hear it. What a difference in the shaves I'm getting now compared to shaving with cartridge razors and green gunk on my face.

I wish I could say I only have one old razor type, but I still have the handle for just about every cartridge razor out there. I really should get rid of them, as I don't plan on using them again!

Kevy that Wilkinson sword quatro was probably the worse cartridge razor with hairs getting caught in the bars 😂

Lol! I had an old toothbrush that looked quite bald by the time I'd removed the stubble stuck between the blades of the cartridge razor. Have a good weekend. Kevy 😀

Kevy. Which is the better performer the Semogue 610 or the 830?

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  6 років тому

I would say the 830 is the better of the two. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍

Personally, I don't know why anyone would pay so much money for a razor that can't shave more than a day or two of beard growth without you first using a beard trimmer. That's probably my favorite thing about using a DE razor. Hacking off multiple weeks worth of beard growth with a few passes, very easily.

You're sooo right in what you say. It's great shaving off a good few days beard growth with a de razor. Cheers. Kevy 😀
