UA-cam running limited ads just because the word booster is in the title is such a UA-cam thing to do. Like, why would they actively hurt something thats meant to HELP you?! Unless the team at UA-cam responsible for the bot maintaining ad rolls is all anti-vax...
Funnily enough John has it backwards. The intent for MK8 was Karts were built to excel on straightaways and bikes were better on tracks with more curves. I remember nothing else about the vanilla MK8 direct other than them testing karts vs bikes on three different tracks just to say, "Guys we promise bikes are balanced this time please believe us!"
The downside is that (Even on current 8:DX) Bikes still suffer in regards to curves in the long run because you can choose combinations with Karts that give you drifting/handling stats that are either comparable to or better than what a Bike was supposed to do in Wii with their Inside Drifts and Wheelies. Hell, the ATV's (Before the Wiggler Rider was nerfed) were better alternatives due to their benefits compared to Bikes, which is why most hardcore/elitist players don't bother using Bikes from what I've seen.
I know this lp was probably recorded and finished, but I would love if the final part ended with a 4v1 match in smash ultimate with the boys whaling on the inkling boy. Just like the Mario 64 lp’s ending.
Can't tell if John was playing it up when he dodged that red shell, but apparently the Boo item makes you invisible/invulnerable in addition to stealing an item. I did not know that.
God that Smash Bros commercial: "Introducing Super Smash Bros, where all your favorite characters go toe-to-toe, in one 4-Player, Star-Studded, SLAMFEST!" "If you say booster you get NoVid" I'm dying...
You know what no one likes you Booster, did you get the reference. Overall thoughts: Athens Dash - great stage Daisy Cruiser - it's not as good as Double Dash Moonview Highway - A little too short for a later city track, would prefer Mushroom City instead Squeaky Clean Sprint, Bathroom setting awesome, reminds me of Micro Machines.
The only thing they brought back from Wii was the different types of drifts depending on what type of bike you took. If you had more of a "sports" bike for lack of a better term, you had the sharper drifts, while the "dirt bike" type controls identically to the kart
I think the difference is that with Smash Bros, the mechanics are interesting enough where a vanilla battle can be exciting. People who still play Street Fighter 2 know this feeling very well. However Mario Kart I'd say doesn't have as many mechanics that even arcade racers have to make it interesting. Need For Speed invented boost, Burnout is the king of destruction, commercial games have career/team mode, and racings sims emulate everything down to the narrowest of bumps on the road. Also racing just simply doesn't have many eyes on it. Just look at how many people talk about Esports vs sim racing.
Say what you will about mario kart wii, but you can't deny it still has the best vehicle designs I've seen in any mario kart, and each character has their own colors on them too which is a plus IMO.
Regarding items in Mario kart vs smash, half of the items in smash tend to have a way stronger impact than Mario kart---theres about 15 or so items with the equivalent effective power of a blue shell in smash (not so much the actual blue shell, ironically)--while items make it way more dynamic, they also can arguably take away way more skill and with it, satisfaction and fairness as well Also in Mario kart almost everyone is guaranteed A item from the reel and it's designed to help losers more, while in smash it's very easy to snowball to dominance
just remember everyone this whole universal battle between famous video game characters happened because Mario decided to be a bigger dick to yoshi than he was in super mario world
they forgot about ATVs lmao. But honestly fair, since ATVs and Karts seem interchangeable. There's gotta be some difference between the two, but I only play Mario Kart casually so I wouldn't notice.
I think I’ve been watching too much Fuwamoco lately. I hear John and Matt sync that Mario Party commercial reference, and immediately thought of the twin doggos.
Actually Squeaky Clean Sprint WAS in Tour, it’s just not labeled as being from Tour. All the Booster Course original, non-real world location tracks were in Tour but aren’t labeled as such for some reason. And Uncle is the winner of the 200cc exhibition match, he receives no reward
2:25 Is only on Wii they had the one boost charge here is all three of em for bikes atvs and karts. Also Bikes on Wii did have a Wheelie option so combine it with Funky's good stats and the Foame Runner you got a very op combo.
I was honestly going to say Elliot had the comeback of the day by beating Johnny, but I never thought those two would tie...for third place. Also, Johnny, I don't think you're missing much of DS, other than Rainbow Road and Super Circuit's Luigi Circuit, because the drift boost is pretty much boost on the orange sparks only; you can't boost on the blue sparks in that game (not you'd want, anyway)
@sonicyuuki2292 I disagree on that. DS is one of the better Mario Kart games and that's mainly because of the smooth controls and the Boost that works an damn. It also had an story mode and for it's time, an Wifi where you can with anyone.
@@jaretco6423 I think you're talking about the Missions, because Mario Kart DS didn't have a story, it had missions. Also, I don't think Johnny would have liked the boost
Question. Unless they changed this in a later update, I'm pretty sure you can turn off AI drivers so that it's only the three or four of you playing. Did they take that away from MK8?
That is so weird, I JUST noticed after nine videos that they've been called "Life Support" and then you guys immediately start talking about it at the beginning.

Double Dash is probably the most overrated Mario Kart game I've seen. I can accept that Super Mario Kart, 64 & Super Curcuit are dated and not as good as they were. But I'll never understand why Double Dash is considered the best in the series when it has the same problems as previous Mario Kart has like the Drift being clunky & unbalanced items. But what makes it worst for me is the team ups. I'm sorry. But I'm not an fan of the concept of having two teams in an kart and use special moves that are so broken. It's not an bad game and there are still some funs to have. But I don't agree it's the best one. Also Johnny. I think you should give DS an try. It's the best Mario Kart next to 8 Deluxe.
You consider that one the most overrated when it's (From what I've seen) the most hated one? Huh, that's new to me. Either way, all I tend to hear about DD's issues are on: its slippery as hell controls/physics (It really does feel like you're on oil a lot of the time), the imbalance of the Roster being very noticeable since Items are tied to your characters and certain Kart Classes absolutely shit on others, and the A.I. being some of the most vindictive until Wii. Still, while it's not my favorite of the bunch, I can still have fun with it for what it does do good, but it certainly isn't a masterpiece. Lol
@@jaretco6423 SC is considered the worst of the portable ones last I checked, whereas folks consider DD the worst of the 3-D/Console titles. Hell, I can't find anyone who DOESN'T find it divisive. Lol

Im gonna hop onto what John was saying about Double Dash. I never owned it until about a year ago, and... that drift feels all kinds of wrong... but also the controls... for me, as someone who has mainly played 8 for the past 10 years, the controls for steering and drifting, to me anyways, feels like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 got together and took the WORST part of how they handled and made Double Dash. It feels super lose and slippery... yet SOMEHOW also super ultra precise with how it feels like I just BARELY move the control stick right or left and Im suddenly snapping towards the direction Im going, which causes me to try and correct myself, and soon Im slipping and sliding all over the road, while snapping into directions more than a Johnny Test episode uses the whip crack sound effect...
UA-cam running limited ads just because the word booster is in the title is such a UA-cam thing to do. Like, why would they actively hurt something thats meant to HELP you?! Unless the team at UA-cam responsible for the bot maintaining ad rolls is all anti-vax...
Not all of them, but certainly some of them.
Because UA-cam stopped "broadcasting yourself" a long time ago.
Because, say it with me now: "UA-cam is run by kleptocrats."
I would guess it's the reverse. It's UA-cam not wanting ads to appear on videos that are possibly critical of the covid vax.
UA-cam moment.

ATVs are basically four-wheeled bikes anyway, so it still fits.
