the arms that open as if throwing a bouquet to a lover or friend at 2:00 captures the sudden release of tension in the music so simply and beautifully...also the chaine turns, twizzles and one-foot balances after the Biellman really capture the cool serenity of the music with its delicacy and flow. thanks for this.
Frequently, skaters with long careerspans make you wonder why they keep on coming back each year without improving and/or trying out anything new, especially toward the end of their careers (ahem, Sebestyen, Liashenko, Petrova/Tikhonov, etc.). But one certainly can't say that about Wagner. She has always been a special skater as you can see here, but she has evolved so much over the years. I look forward to seeing her come back each season with something new and exciting! I hope she will continue to enjoy a long and successful career.
Definitely. Terry Gannon remarked that her La La Land program really drew out her softness and gentleness. I think that lyrical quality was always there in her skating but Shae-Lynn has really helped her develop and express it and she managed a very gentle, lyrical interpretation of that music. She always had a lyrical side in her programs even though she also had programs more concentrated on power and explosive or staccato type movement.
Me too, although I really liked the Delilah program (it's one of my favorites of her programs), and it does have lyrical moments, only they're lyrical in the way they bring out musicality and emotion in choreography rather than lyrical in the sense of being soft or gentle. But yes it would have been nice to see that program skated with the intensely lyrical quality she has here, and one thing I like about this program is the way she looks buoyant and effortless whatever step she is doing.
Yes this has some unfinished moments in this but good flow and, like he says, quality of lightness/effortlessness in the way she performs different kinds of footwork across the ice, maintaining speed and a continuity of movement throughout the changes. I think her port de bras are more varied in shape/effect now which also makes me think she has better core control and better basic stability - she can do what she wants with upper body form while allowing the legs/feet to execute steps independently.
Music is sooooo beautiful ,performance is so elegant 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

action speaks louder than words
What a great performance!!!!! ❤️👏🏻🏆
Ashley skated so exquisitely here. I wish she skated like this in 2014, but with the 3/3 of course.

Strong performance! Too strong for the tune!
powerful skater no nonesence
I feel like there is a quality about her skating which makes it seem MUCH more controlled now. More core strength maybe?
