Positive! Cleaned my wheels … NEGATIVE opened the shit up and the spring launched the black joint into my fucking eye and saw shapes and colors and grey for half an hour and felt that shit in my skull. Not your fault 😂 just careful guys when it’s time to remove the one wheel( the second one attached with major metal rod) .. lmaooo😂 I’m a dumbass but tysm exact chair model and helped me sm!!! ❤❤❤
Excellent! This worked perfectly. If you want the chair to roll freely, remove the spring (near the end of the video). The spring is responsible for the "safety braking" which is totally not required or desired.
An alternative way that works in the same manner is two thin metal bars and a tapered wedge driven between the inner faces . . . BUT . . . whichever way, this is by far the safest method to use and less likely to damage the plastic "wheels". A good educational video!
Good video , I would also suggest adding a little 3 in 1 oil , WD-40, Axel Grease or any good lubricant on the metal rod that holds the wheels to keep it lubricated and cut down on friction . You can scrape the wheels surface that touches the floor with a utility knife to remove any imbedded dirt and grime and make them smooth again and add a little 3 in 1 oil on the surface of the wheel so they will glide better., that's how I done to the wheels that I have cleaned and fixed :) Thank you and God bless :) 😁👍🥳🛼
I’m going to try this method because I think with the screwdriver it’s a little difficult yours seems much easier I have three wheels want to go thank you for sharing.
Nice one I got a box full of this tip of wheels but never try that trick but now if I need to clean now I know how. Thanks for the tip it well help in future. Kind regards from London and thanks for stopping by.
This worked great. Instead of needle nose pliers, I used a pair of wire cutters which provided more leverage. I also rotated the wheel around little by little to exert pressure all the way around.
Mine weren't very dirty, however the wheels were very stiff, no matter how much I cleaned or tried wd40 etc, they were still too stuck to spin nicely. When the wheels were separated from the base core they Would spin perfectly, but as soon as I clicked them back in they were too stuck, it looked like I might have clicked them too close, after about 30 mins of trying to get perfect position to click in for them to spin... I failed, so I gave up and just took out the springs, and now they all spin perfectly, and it rolls like a charm as if it was brand new .
Using this technique, I was able to remove the caster for cleaning. Would you like to know how to remove the wheel from the base of the chair? Thank you for sharing your experience. I Have a question the little plastic thing where the spring goes has 2 holes on it.. mine i did it but instead i use the other hole and now the wheels roll easily… is it wrong ?
I did the same, now it's fine. Take care that the ass of the chair does not touch the ground then. It happened to me, so I put 3*5 ball bearings (6mm diameter) in the hole where wheels are inserted to raise the chair.
Most do not seem to have the spring. To get the second wheel/axle out, people often tap the axle with a mallet (rubber/wood) to free it from the plastic base. The axle and wheel should then come out. The axle is a tight/interference fit with the plastic base (the axle has a knurled surface to grip the plastic).
hOW DID U SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH TAKING OFF THE BREAKS FROM THESE WHEELS ? i HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, AND EVEN CLEANING THE WHEELS DO NOT MAKE THEM SMOOTH...
Where do u get castor wheels As 2 have broken ss same made of hard plastic rest if d chair in excelkent condition ..now where do u get these wheels from....hardware shop diesnt have it
Thanks! I tried using a screwdriver method but found this method with pliers was super easy.
I don't have needle nose pliers so I had to use screwdrivers and needle nose vice grips won't work

Is there a non-stick material that you can wrap around wheels to prevent them from picking up dirt and grime?
I’m going to try this method because I think with the screwdriver it’s a little difficult yours seems much easier I have three wheels want to go thank you for sharing.
That is exactly what I was looking for.
Nice one Habner!....An EXCELLENTand CLEAR Vlog, fixed my swivel chair wheels perfectly with your help. Thank goodness for UA-cam! I give you 10/10👍

Kind regards from London and thanks for stopping by.
Thank you! So much easier than prying with screwdrivers!
5:00 that's a OHS safety feature, it prevents the chair from rolling backwards as you sit down.
This worked great. Instead of needle nose pliers, I used a pair of wire cutters which provided more leverage. I also rotated the wheel around little by little to exert pressure all the way around.
I almost tossed out a good chair because of this issue. Thank you so much
Thank you Sir, you are a true gentleman.
Hell yeah. Second video, worked like a charm.

thank you! this is extremely helpful, you saved my chair!
getting the plastic to pop off was a struggle, a lot of strength and keeping it still. maybe easier for guys having more hand strength
I really appreciate this video! Thank very much for this post.
Thanks - I have this exact chair with the exact problem.
Dude, you are a lifesaver! Thank you!!
Thank you. Made it easier for me and saved my time :)
I had to put one handle under my foot and pull the other with two hands. But yeah. It fixed it right up thx.
Trust me its better to get new wheels than opening one and cleaning them i bought a set of 5 for 10$ and they work perfectly
😂
Yeah, but if you clean them you dont need to pay anything even if a new set is cheap

Link to pliers, can’t seem to find one that fits/stretches far enough
Nice thanks you
My pliers to stretch too wide are there any alternative tools?
This is great! My wheel doesn’t have a spring how do I get the second side off?
