FAKE Charvel USA? Or REAL?? PROTOTYPE maybe? or Retro Model no one knows about? Let's find out!

- Over the years I have normally ignored "fake" or "counterfeit" China-Made import guitars, but I have also noticed that they get resold eventually to an unsuspecting buyer, only for them to find out later that it is a fake. So, now I have decided to go ahead and tell the pawn shops and music stores that they are fakes and prove it to them. I then, of course, deal them out of it. I had an extreme interest in this one because you just don't see too many Charvels that are questionable. It's usually just Fender and Gibson. Occasionally a Rickenbacker or PRS will pop up.
I took interest in this one because it was hard to detect the faux-ness. But this one could still be some kind of prototype that escaped and got out into the wild. It does happen.
This particular guitar I was calling a "probably a fake" because I had two people at the pawn shop doing research, trying to find it. We finally decided it was probably a "custom build" of some sort. They had $500 on it and I overheard the owner saying they only had $100 in it. Long story short, I offered them $150 and they took it immediately. We'll see what comes of it later, but if I do discover something, I am willing to tell the Pawnshop what I found and compensate them accordingly. (They watch this Channel)
Right now, searching for more info. Got a message into Fender/Charvel. Going to send them some pics.
I'll let you know how it goes in another video.
Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe if you feel so inclined!
I recently traded 1000.00 worth of stuff for a 1986 3A Charvel it does have some wear on it that looks real but the Kahler USA bridge set up seems cheap is this normal
Those particular tremolos, if it is the original one, were made to mimic the Floyd Rose more than traditional Kahlers. I've had that particular one on a couple different guitars over the years. They do seem kind of cheap and a little flimsy compared to the regular Kahler. But you can set them up and they work pretty good.
I have an early Radius with a green splash color that everyone says is supposed to be blue,it is a pre satriani Ibanez
@@Bsok-h4n sweet!
That's a charvel added Decal...gotta do know your wire and wood before you pull the trigger..😢
Yes. I like to look at it as if I don't know anything. As if I'm just discovering it.
It's a project guitar built at home by some dude. I've done these kind of "Bitza" builds: as in "bits a this, bits a that". I have a sweet superstrat with Ibanez RG body and a fake Kramer neck with banana headstock.
NICE 🤘🤘🤘
Just watched this. I know a little about Charvel's. I knew it was counterfeit from the get go. So many red flags.
The logo for one is incorrect for the guitar. It should be a transfer, not a waterslide.
The control cavity is not the right shape.
The body doesn't look right in regards to the cutaway horns.
The pickup rings also are a red flag.
The neck looks like a $100 neck from ebay.
The neck route had a few different paint colors.
Then the electronics are all import as you show.
Definitely a Chinese copy or something that perhaps someone threw together and tried a half hearted attempt at a counterfeiting.
I don't remember what you said you paid, I think $500 I heard. It's probably not even worth half that price.
My impressions after spending 40+ years working with primarily electric guitars.
Thank you so much! That clears up a lot. They had a $500 price tag on it we had two of them doing research behind the counter while I did research on my phone and we never found anything exactly like it or really even close. Except the explorer copies where the next were close but still not 100% the same. I overheard them talking and I knew they only had $100 in the guitar I actually walked out of there paying only $150. If anything seems off on a guitar I now pointed out to the pawn shops. Thanks so much for your input! My strong suit is negotiation on anything. I have a strict limit of only $200 for a Gibson Chibson.
@guitarhustlerdan awesome! A buck fifty for that is fair. I own a few Charvel's and a Jackson. One of my Charvel's is from 1986 I bought brand new. Plus I have been in the industry since I was 19 starting with Hamer.

@@dethcult THANKS brother! I would say I've been in this industry for 25 years. More on the retail end so I didn't see a whole lot of fakes. Now I'm hunting for them. LOL 😂
@@guitarhustlerdanThere is zero indication the words "Sample Proto"were ever used for Charvel. Ever. The dates and marker are extremely sus dude. Charvel was bought out by fender 20years ago. 92 was pointed headstock and full on Strat copy(think Jake E Lee). It has nothing to do with Charvel and definitely nothing to do with Fender. Fender knows better than that crap.
@@flippinguitar1979 yeah I could find absolutely zero about that, it was very suspect. But if we all learn something from it, it was worth the purchase.
That’s a country hit son!!!🤘
Nashville called. They want me there next Thursday. They said BYOB.... WHATEVER that means... Must be serious...
