- On opening night of the 2008-2009 season, the Boston Celtics received their championship rings and raised banner 17 to the rafters.
From here on out, it's all business once again as Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and the rest of the Celtics begin their title defense. - Спорт

15 years I still emotional seeing banner 17 raising up
KG DESERVES THIS SO MUCH! MAN, HE WORKED HIS LIFE FOR THIS!! I LOVE KG! WHAT A MAN! THIS MADE ME CRY ALMOST!
This has to be the best ring ceremony of the past decade, the sequence, music selection, everything was just so perfect.

I got misty eyed when Pierce got his, guy deserved it more than most in this league
I cried like a baby watching this. I have watched our big 4 grow both in the game and in character. I LOVE the Celtics and I cannot wait for us to get that 18th banner this year! GO CELTICS.

Seeing pierce get emotional always gets me, dude was there when they were a struggling franchise, the year before they won the championship pierce sat out for the second half of the season because the organization didn't want him to get hurt and the teams record was so poor.

It’s 2023, opening night of the new season, seeing Denver’s ceremony made me wanna go back and watch our #17 again and I still tear up. I’m hoping I can come back this time next year and watch JT,JB,KP,Jrue and Al raise #18 and cry like I lost someone. Let’s go Celtics!!

Kg has been my fav player wince i stafted eatching basketball when he was on the wolves originally,this was amazing to re watch big shout out to pj brown and james posey who weren't shown but where key parts to banner 17 much respect.

I saw no tears, cry moar about Brady's 3 Superbowls,
12 LONG years man. they handled themselves extremely well. i would not have been able to play because i would be so overwhelmed. when doc rivers saw pierce crying, etc, he said to his staff "he's done."

one thing i respect about paul pierce is that he never gave up on his team that drafted him at first. unlike lebron, he gave up on his team, and lost his legacy. even if lebron wins like 6 champioships later on, he will NEVER be on paul pierces level. same thing with kobe bryant, he did the same thing, and won 5 with the lakers. now that's what i call true heart of a champion

Ive never seen another player that wanted it or deserved it more than Paul Pierce. You can tell in his emotions it wasn't all about the money. It means something to him. Paul Pierce forever!!!!!!!!!
I was there that night, and it was truly magical. I shed a few tears when the banner actually got raised up. That team was so unified, with each other and the fans. and to top it all off, they went on to beat the Cavs in a kickass season opener.
I'm eagerly waiting for the 18th banner to rise!

@Enemy1011 i believe posey was traded to the hornets or pacers in the 2008 2009off season..and this ring ceremony was held on the first home game of the 2008-2009 season, so Posey got his ring when the pacers or hornets played in Boston..

In 2007 and 2008, three Boston teams went to the championship, and the one team which was most likely to win was the only one which lost. That Super Bowl was one of the saddest moments, if not the saddest, in Boston sports history.
