My dad is a rat and my mom is a horse. A lot of people told my parents that their zodiac make them a bad match but they are still lovey dovey even after 26 years of marriage. I don't really believe in this~

That's hilarious, cuz I'm a dog and my sister is a dragon, but we get along very well. :P That's probably because we cultivated the relationship for years. She can be very hotheaded and intimidating, so there is a chance we wouldn't be friends if we hadn't grown up together and are related. My husband is a rat, which makes our compatibility very good, according to multiple sources. Funny, cuz in the western zodiac, we're highly compatible (me -- Taurus; him -- Virgo). ^_^ The zodiac and anything astrological has always fascinated me and I turn to it sometimes when I seek answers.

The thing I have always wondered (after studying numerous zodiac placemats at Chinese restaurants, lol) is why one is supposedly most compatible with people born several years before or after you. In real life, most people end up with someone fairly close in age
Back in ancient China marriages were mostly arranged affairs and family connections and social background were the most important factors behind them.
Then it was pretty common, that the family of a young girl would look to marry her to someone older who had already established himself in life, over the neighbour's young son who had achieved nothing so far. So most married couples would have had bigger age differences than people have today. Then looking around and seeing that was how most married couples were, ancient people would have assumed, that clearly these kind of pairings were the most compatible ones.

@@ninjapirate123 It also depends on whether if you two share a common ascendant sign based on your time of birth. For example a person who was born in the year of the Pig with the Snake ascendant could also be compatible with people born in the year of the Snake since they exhibit personality traits of both zodiac signs.
I find this interesting, since, unlike the Western Zodiac, the Chinese Zodiac assigns everyone born in the same year the same symbol. It also assigns you 'compatible' relationships with people older and younger than you, and often says you would be incompatible with people of your own age (like my boyfriend and I, both Dragons). Wouldn't it make more sense to be compatible with people of your own age, or at least somewhat close?
It's really sad actually. Hopefully they aren't actually serious about all people just based on their birth date alone. It could just be the animals for reference. Regardless don't judge a person by something they can't control. By the way I was born in the year of the dragon also. May I ask your birth year

My cousin is Year of The Rat and I'm Year of the Horse and we actually get along quite well -_-!! The part about Ox does make sense to me because I don't get along with my sister xD
I'm a rabbit, my sister's a dragon (we don't get along well), and my mom is a horse (she's kinda obnoxious sometimes, but she's my best friend!) I find the Chinese zodiac to be more consistent than the Western one, TBH.

I am a pig and I adore rabbits. Dragons are energetic and fun for me. Tigers seem to be very good friends. Sheep are extremely interesting and I admire them. Snakes I am told to be careful with but I have met snakes that were very fun, nurturing and loving. Horses are a bit too robust for me and sometimes out of my league. But they are certainly wonderful to behold. Monkeys, the pig is told to stay away from but I have found them to be so intelligent and fun-loving. Dogs I find to be the salt of the earth and very stable. Rats can really put on a show in my experience. Pigs are great but too much the same as me. I like a little variation. but they are usually trustworthy. Cows are very stable and leaders. Chickens are so orderly and respectable. Also very smart and fun.
All I can say is don't judge a person by their birth year alone. Are you 1995 Sorry? I was born in 2000

I'm a dragon apparently and I've had *3* best friends who were also dragons but I'm supposedly not meant to get along with other dragons. Well surprise surprise, here's me defying the zodiac once again.
I've heard other sources saying that two dragons are compatible. It's kind of good to know that not even all sources agree with eachother

I'm a Metal Monkey element and there is nothing to worry about. My grandfather was a Fire Tiger and we got along great. However he was the only Tiger I liked and respected. The arsehole ones however, you can outsmart them with your speed and wit. The Monkeys are like the Mini Cooper car and the Tigers are like a long bus! If you have seen the original 1969 "The Italian Job" with Michael Cain in it, you will see what I mean.
Although the only thing I dislike about the Tiger is that the people born under that sign are a bit devious for my liking. I don't hate Tigers though as that title is awarded to the Rooster. The 5-star home-wrecker! Cannot fucking stand them.

I don't quite understand Chinese zodiac. I'm an ox but am I an ox all my life? Nearly everyone in my year at school was born in 1997, it can't possibly mean that we all get on because I only had few friends in school. I'm confused? It could possibly rely on the year you are born becuase it cannot be true that I would get on with everyone born in 1997

I actually combine my Chinese Zodiac with Western Astrology so for example I’m a Cancer Snake and I feel like that gives it more of a detailed personality trait and insight on who you’re most likely to get along with.

I'm a snake and my older friend is a monkey, but we get along well. The younger monkeys that I once known have been anti-social with inflated egos. I know a few tigers yet, I had terrible experience getting most of them to talk to me (not all tigers are social rejects though and one tiger girl was like really cool). As a snake, my relationship with pigs are a hit or miss, some are b**ches or a**holes, others are cool (like my hardworking buddy Stacy who's married, though I believe that more pigs should be cool like her). The kind of people that I found most disrespectful were rabbits and I hope there will be friendlier people of that zodiac.
I can actually see a name association with lunar zodiac animals funny enough. Did you know I have synesthesia? That includes colours for letters and numbers. Is it just me but I picture a "kevin" as someone born in the year of the rabbit and "karen" as a rooster. Do you see that. That being said you shouldn't judge a person by their birth year.

I’m an Ox. The strongest connections I have tend to be with the Snakes, Roosters, Rats, and Pigs. The Rabbits have been okay. The absolute worst have been Horses. The Goats are so extremely opposite that it feels severely awkward even though I like them from afar. Tigers tend to be too impulsive for my tastes.
