This skit is taken from an actual thing from the 80's with the exact same music and cheesy poses. It's great!
It's amazing how dance exercise videos like this were a real thing back in the 80's. And shows that were nothing but watching regular people dance.
You were supposed to dance along with them for exercise... Instead you were just sitting there eating nachos, weren't you?

As Someone who was a small Child in the late 80s, I can assure you this is a 100% accurate rendition of 1987 America. I can still feel the Decadence lol.

And he was a staple in 80s movies, usually a background tech/professor guy.

A bit of trivia about this one. The DP Charles Papert bought several period pro video cameras and pieced together one camera that was used to shoot this sketch. He felt there was no other way to achieve the authentic look.

I love the foreign take on this. It was a real competition in the 80s and it was mind boggling.
I fell like it's important to remember that while this skit is a joke it was actually based off a real thing. I'm actually pretty sure Tosh.0 did a redemption for one of those teams.

Yes it is true in the sense that the guy attacked another dancer. They were essentially recreating that moment on TV but the Q-cards were the made up part.

OK but Saturday Night Fever is actually a REALLY good movie, very dark and real - the dancing was the only good thing in his life. And the soundtrack is disco gold.
