I’ve been watching quite a few videos regarding the use of XTool laser machines and I’m quite interested, so I’ve purchased the XTool 20W.
I’ve been watching quite a few of your videos and I was wondering wether you have a video regarding your laser positioning jigs which includes dimensions and machine settings, this would be a great help to get me started.

I have it, just not many uses in my shop.
Great video again introducing this machine Dave, but not impressed with the consistency. I can see this for a bar top or long signs, stencils or coffee tables as in other videos, but not something very versatile for craft or home use. Just my opinion.
I agree, that’s why I said it is a task specific machine. I see where it would be good to have for some jobs but not my pick for all around use.
Interesting design. Very clever approach and the autofocus is a neat feature. Seems like it does have limitations, the dust you pointed out on your table is pretty common to the working environment this is going to encounter. Overall quite interesting. Will be interested to see what you do with this in the future.

Very interesting. It should have a fixed skid plate or alignment rollers on one side and follower rollers on the other to help self centre on those 10’ runs to keep the alignment
It has dual rollers that are about 3 inches wide. It also has a linkage connecting the two sets of rollers. I do think I may build a riser/ guide for it though
I can see a "Guinness World Record" for longest continual engrave in your future. 😉

Cutting a cylinder, or something tall, looks to be a problem.
It does have it limitations. But also has its advantages.

Get limit switches and lightburn compatibility if possible. Budget dictates the brand. At least a 10 watt

Yea, the real crazy part is that it actually works pretty well.
Looks good but for the price, it might be worth it. The length is comparable to the GlowForge. The width is comparable to the xTool. It would be nice for making big signs to glue onto another piece. How does this work with Lightburn or is it compatible?
It works with lightburn and is capable of crawling as far as you want. I only restricted it to 800mm. I could engrave an 8 foot long board with long enough cables.
The Laserpecker 2 has a travel mode as well. It can slip like this one, but has brass wheels and is more prone. Nice introduction.

Is there any possibility of using air assist or do you think it’s even necessary?
It seems to be using the vacuum as a reverse air assist. It pulls air up through the hole from the bottom. Odd but seems to be working

Could you set it and burn a long straight line and then use the line as a reference to set your long material
I suspect just framing would be sufficient, I plan to find out.

Hey, I went to a laser presentation class tonight. The instructor said that I needed to have a laser license on any Class 4 laser. If I didn’t have this license I could be fined up to $170k. Have you heard anything about this?
I guess I am going to be in big trouble. LOL
What kind of presentation? Never heard of that. Maybe if you are using it for medical use.. You always need to ask what law they are referring to. If you plan on doing an outdoor laser show, the FAA has guidelines. I am sure he was talking about something other than a laser engraver.
Most of these are class 3 lasers I think. But I could be wrong.
OSHA has some laws but not finding anything about diode engravers. I look good in Orange any way. LOL...
@@TheClackShack me too!! Thanks. I just thought it was odd. I know for a fact that if you are using a medical grade laser for laser hair removal you do need a certification of completion for the laser course and laser safety certification. Thanks.
