Hello to you great guys. I could remember growing up; my father had his radio and whenever WI playing ; he would turn it up loud. it was excitment..😀😁😂 . WI players now is not playing for the Caribbean people .
I was privileged to see these guys play test cricket in England, I actually wanted to be West Indian ! I love Sir Andy’s quote late in the interview, ‘if my mother came in padded up I’d bowl her bouncers’, thank you so much gentlemen for your service to our glorious game.
All the west Indies players from the 70s and 80s were incredibly well spoken, very articulate in speech, professional in mannerism and behaviour, terrific people and legendary cricketers.
Holy Sh**t. These blokes were on top of their game everytime they stepped onto field. I can still see that proudness on their faces that we usually notice in Legends.
When I was a child and my grandmother was listening to cricket on her radio and I heard the names of these men, in my mind's eye I saw giants. As it turned out I saw them in the Queen's Park Oval for the first time in the 70s I proved myself to be correct.
I am 65 now and for me the West Indies team led by Clive Lloyd is still the best I've ever seen. They dominated in an era when sides like Pakistan, India and Australia were no slouches either.
@@nikhilhembrom8952 completely wrong. Pakistan was a great team then, as proven by words of andy roberts at 2:00. Australia were only good at home. India was a very average team.
Just look at gurner's leg....the pace he generated and those jumps he took I think those are insane ones.. Big salute to them whoever faced him like champion's..
Excellent interview. I'll never forget watching the final. Still inspirational. Clive Lloyd comes across as being very quiet and modest and yet he was clearly a great leader.
Fully agreed. No team in history can ever match west indies team of 1980s. Some may win one or other match, but series win from this team was very very difficult. No batsman who ever is doesn't like to face such a terrifying attack all the time in a day. Means there is no relief from intimidating. I think bowlers of such quality was their main strength than batting. Of course they have good batters. But bowling was the main force in their domination
Legends the lot of them. Remember watching this with my dad being worried when Brearly and Boycott built a massive opening stand. My dad said don’t worry son they will crumble….. the rest is history in 2022 still greatest sporting even of my life. Cause I watched it with the old man RIP
Brilliant players. Wonderful to hear the legends. The most gifted players ever Their only scares were Pakistan in 1975 and 1979. In 1979 was when Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas added 166 for the 2nd wicket chasing 293. Lloyd had apparently asked Croft to bowl down the legside, which weren't given wides in those days. But here Croft says something different. Majid Khan not only scored over 80 but his bowling figures were 12-0-26-0. (Interstingly Majid Khan averaged over 50 in all test matches and World Cups vs Andy Roberts opening up. 5 tests in West Indies at 53. Two World Cup matches in England averaged 70. Two test matches in Pak averaged only 35 but with 1 run out and one bad luck dismissal. No wonder all lengendary fast bowlers like Lillee, Holding, Garner etc rank him so highly).
Thanks to you all for all those wonderful brand of cricket you brought up for the cricketing world to see in awe.. And the benchmark you left Clive still stays on. God bless you all. 😏 🇮🇳
Pakistan was Brilliant both in 1975 and 1979 world cup. Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas . They were second best team in that World cup. Sad they did not make it to Final. Love from India
If I may add yet another the crucial factor was the great I V A Richards - The legend Vivian Richards. His presence itself is frightening to other teams, as he was the greatest bastman ever I think we had in the world!
The great majid khan hitting a century before lunch in a test match speaks volumes of his batting talent. May God bless him with good health and happiness.
Majid khan and Zaheer Abbas were the best to handle west indies bowling in one day matches. Pak vs WI. Matches amazing to watch. Both equally balanced with excellent bowlers.
Malcolm Marshall also one of the all time greats wonderful bowler and cricketer loved to watch him bowl so accurate they had so many great fast bowlers Ian Bishop, Patrick Pattinson, Curtly Ambrose @ Courtney Walsh thats without their great batsmen. BEST TEST TEAM EVER IN MY OPINION.
Remember what a banner in the stadium in Australia read those days when rain had stopped play ! Windies weren't playing that day. " Rain Rain Go Away Come again when the Windies play !" That was the dominance of Windies those days. Their games were too one-sided ! Respect ! 🙏❤️🇮🇳
Hey, hey, i was 15 years when the first Prudential WC took place and am from India. I had great fascination for this Windies team. Greenidge, Fredricks, Kallicharan, Lloyd, Richards, Derek Murray, Haynes, Gomes, Roberts, Holding, Marshall, Garner, Croft, Rowe, King, Logie, Richardson, Walsh, Ambrose, Dujon.fufff what a mind blowing cricketers man. Where is that legacy now?
These people are true legends. They can beat any team in their backyards also. Really feeling bad that the legacy didn’t taken it forward by the following teams.
Clive Lloyd led from the front like an Army Commanding officer always Maki g brilliant moves to shatter the opposition. Salute to these greats still every week I watch these matches.
Tribute to these legends. What a majical team was, really wonderful. When some one ask me my favrit team besides Pakistan, my answer is West Indies. I'm a Pakistani and I'm proud to be a Pakistani. Game On hy Sir Vivian Richards and my another favrit commentator Michael Holding. Thanks to all
The 1979 WI team was the greatest one day team of all time ! And the 4 fast bowlers : Roberts , Holding , Garner and Croft were the greatest fast bowlers to play as a team for the WI or for that matter for any team ..
Terrific cricketers!👍I met Sir Gary&Sir Vivian & presented them with some wonderful replicas if cricket stadiums that I make apart from playing some good cricket in Mumbai! They were all praise for my artistic skills&even wrote wonderful comments for me!👍But I could not meet any of you! I wish all of u good health&good luck!👍💐
It was emotional listening to our legends. I listened to this game the 1979 finals.. No tv in Guyana. Always wondered why collis king was not given MOM. You dont hear folks talk much of him. It was him who made the difference. Would windies ever become the world champs again?
Greenidge's 93 and 107 in the debut test at Bangalore and Richards 192 not out in the very next test at New Delhi in 1974-75 series signalled the arrival of 2 great batsmen.
As an Aussie kid playing backyard cricket, we always fought to be the West Indies, we grumbled if we had to be any other team. Now this is coming from a time when Australian cricket was not that bad .. we were second from top, and yet we desperately wanted to be the West Indians, now can you imagine that today? Thats how good they were.. they thrashed us, they thrashed everyone, they were the clear best and utterly brilliant to watch.
🌹💞to all4! But I really like Clive Lloyd very much.I saw him score a double century (242!?) at Bombay in 1974-75 series! I think he hit a six out of the huge Wankhede Stadium!💞 Also very good captain & gentle man!🌹Well,I met both greats Sir Gary&Sir Vivian& presented them with some "wonderful bit of art"(some replicas of miniature cricket stadiums with full of action in it! Both of them gave me great compliments for it! But unfortunately I couldn't present to some more players like Sir Clive Lloyd &others as I am the only one who make them+I got no sponsorship! Even BCCI didn't help me due to some petty politics! Let's see if I can create more like that!💞😊
West Indies 1975 to 1983 greater than any side ever (2 world cup wins and 1 world cup final). Even though the Australian team won 3 World Cups in a row between 1999 to 2007, this West Indies team was a joy to watch compared to the Australian team.
I would like Clive Lloyd to talk about 1980 when they were beaten by New Zealand 🇳🇿, when Holding kicked down the wickets, because the umpire didn't give the batsman out caught behind. Also that Colin Croft used his shoulder to pushed over the umpire too, then he dropped Lawrence Rowe after that New Zealand series brought his cousin Roger Harper. I remembered when all of you guys 👦 making your debuts for the wi team, Lloyd in 1966 against India 🇮🇳 In India 🇮🇳.
Where does that team went now feeling very bad today there was a time where any series whether it is test or odi stadium in west indies were jam packed now you can find crowd only in T20s
Man I feel sorry and at the same moment very angry for the west Indies cricket team. While these 4 legends who were a part of WI team which ruled cricket from the mid 70s-mid 80s(1975-85), they made a crop of legends for next generation in Ambrose, Walsh, Lara, Richie Richardson, Ian Bishop and Carl Hooper to continue the same legacy which they did from mid 80s to mid 90s(1985-95) to be specific. But the later crop of legends failed miserabley to make a crop of next generation of WI greats baring a few like chanderpaul, gayle, sarwan. We need the iconic WI of the 80s again. Please make it happen again WI cricket board...
You can pick a captain out of these four without even anyone mentioning it. Sir Lloyd was made for this job. And after watching cricket for four decades, I’ve come to realise how freakish this Union from the Caribbean was. So many amazing cricketers in such short time.
Greatest all heros
Hello to you great guys. I could remember growing up; my father had his radio and whenever WI playing ; he would turn it up loud. it was excitment..😀😁😂 . WI players now is not playing for the Caribbean people .

Together with sir ViV & Holding

Clive Lloyd appeared more like a college professor, leading a bunch of hit men !!
Sir Clive Lloyd led from the front like an Army General. He will alway be remembered for his leadership and captaincy of the West Indies Team .

I can listen to Garner's voice for hours... I wish he does some voiceover. Amazing sportsmen.
Yes superb voice, similar to Morgan Freeman
Blasted Bajan accent is the funniest in the world 😂😂😂😂😂
Great memory by Colin Croft!!

All are great legends of cricket. I was lucky to witness Lloyd and Andy Roberts playing in a cricket test match.
