The easy way. Find a stick get an old shirt cut it into strip tie it on to the the stick dip it then light it. Done in five minutes no aluminum no drills no screws no hack saws and it looks more real. Plus aluminum transfers heat way faster than steal but it is easier to drill a hole into it.
he's showing an alternative. When your out in the woods of course a different method would be used. I liked this. Plan to test this steel VS aluminum. Next time I have a fire pit, I'm gonna grab a steel rod and an aluminum rod. Rummaging thru my garage I'll come up with both. Cut them same length and about the same thickness. We shall see, what we, shall see
Protip: when you're pouring from gallon metal containers with the spout in a corner like that, you want to make sure the spout is at the top rather than the bottom when pouring, to reduce splashes and spills.
I would suggest that although the Kevlar twin would last a bit longer but in theory it would be like a zippo lighter the twin would eventually burn off and you would have to change it and it would become dangerous if it where to come off when it’s lit so maybe some small flexible wire would be better

In the UK it would probably be Turpentine or White Spirits. Never thought to use an Aluminium pole though (the hollow tube allowing air flow and keeping the whole thing cooler). We used to make these when i was a Kid (way back in the 1970's/80's) and just used sawn broomsticks and cut up sheets. of course, that's not the most controlled or safe way to go. ;-) Very nicely done.
There's a lot of things in the UK and EUR overseas territory that you're not allowed to do because of your monarchy system and don't pay no fucking taxes
Nice torch. I wonder what Hollywood used in the 1930s before Kevlar which was introduced in 1965 I think? And what kind of liquid is that 'camping fuel'?
Aluminum is significantly more conductive than steel. You can look up the conductivity rankings on Wikipedia. How is it that aluminum won't transfer heat but steel will? Is it somehow dissipating that heat before it gets to your hand?
just use lithium strips from a battery and all you have to do is spray some water on it and it ignites instantly. if the moisture in the air or from your hands don't cause it to do so prematurely.
So I use a metal pipe not aluminium and duck tape to hold the sock in place thank u for ur help fixing make a horror movie fleas get attack by torch thanks buddy
the problem isn't so much that steel transfers heat, both steel and aluminum do. In fact aluminum transfers heat better! the problem is that steel RETAINS heat better. aluminum disperses the heat better than steel though.
the reason they make heatsinks out of aluminium is cause aluminium losses that "heat" fast, steel transfers the heat and keeps it for longer, therefor you'll burn your hands. meanwhile the aluminium will spread it and lose it before it gets hot enough to hurt you
A zna li neko koja je vrsta platna, i kako se zove rastvor u što ga je namoćio?Te na kraju da li to smrdi dimi i kojevrijeme može dugo baklja da gori? Hvala❤
You forgot to finish your statement "aluminum doesn't transfer heat slowly but actually transfers heat much quicker than steel." I'm sorry I added the apostrophe to "doesn't" but it is a contraction and so is needed to make an actual word. Aluminum does transfer heat, it actually transfers it so well that it would be very difficult to get a torch hot enough that the heat would radiate down the pipe causing it to heat up enough that one could no longer hold it. Anyone who has polished or ground down aluminum knows it gets hot very, very quickly. Also the bigger the piece of aluminum the longer it takes to heat up. Having this nice long pole with decent thickness means that any heat the aluminum takes on will be dissipated as it works its way down the pole thus resulting in a pole that is just barely above room temperature.
I dont think it looks real. I saw a kid in here make one with a broom sticks and a pair of socks that looked more authentic. As long as your not an idiot, it was safe. Any flame is going to be a hazard if you arent careful. So it might as well look cool.
Aloominum? Aloominum? Ohhh... you mean aluminium! I don't think the medieval residents had access to battery powered drills, screws or hacksaws though!
omg, that “yay” at the beginning is me and some friends. We recorded it and put it on FreeSound years ago :D.
That’s awesome!
😂 I love finding this kind of comments 😂😂😂👌

Aluminum transfers heat very quickly and loses it very quickly to the ambient air. Steel holds the heat longer.

That's common sense not a pro tip lmao 😅
how long do they last
@@hugofranca8568 how often do you have to replace the kevlar?
@@hugofranca8568 thanks!
Great job. Thanks. I'd love to see how the wood handled ones work out.
Dan Beck they explode upon impact.
Wow... that's some flawless hair you got there, sir

"Don't do anything I'm about to do. OK, let's do it!"
Correction: Aluminum and steel are both metals, and they both conduct (transfer) heat. Aluminum dissipates heat, whereas steel retains it.
How long do they burn and can u use bamboo or wood instead of aluminum? Thanks
an answer to this question will be helpful
Sweet...you bring the torches and I'll bring the pitchforks. Cool video. Now I have another survival skill to add to my toolbox. Thanks!
Definitely taking this hunting

Is there any particular type of kevlar? Also what is the solvent you use? Is it paraffin?
How long will the torch burn for??
bout 6 hours depending how much kevlar you use
how long did the flame last for that 2' piece of kevlar fabric?
Nice torch. I wonder what Hollywood used in the 1930s before Kevlar which was introduced in 1965 I think? And what kind of liquid is that 'camping fuel'?
that is a wonderful idea of making a torch
wouldn't kevlar twine burn off first and let the kevlar loose?
also are these stable for juggling?
Khatsu Dum considering the only thing holding it on is the friction of 2 rather smooth surfaced materials.. yeah, it's good.
Is kevlar the best material to use? What about burlap? Or cotton fabric?
Thank you for the video, my friends and I have been using these in our KKK rituals and they work beautifully.
oh....
How long will the torch last? Can you keep reusing it? Why kevlar and not fabric?
Steph Boeker Fabric will be consumed.
I would love to see you use self tapping screws with a screwdriver.
I am going to do this immediately!
"Dont do anything im about to show you"
"Ok So YoU aRe GoNnA nEeD"
How long will it burn & would kerosene burn longer ?
Is this going to be a thing on this channel? Because I like this thing.
Where did you get the Kevlar?
Nerd stuff? This ain't nerd stuff, this is straight up bad @ss!!

How long does the torch last the burn on it
I'm sure everybody has a bunch of kevlar just layn around
Would it work as good with not kevlar cloth?
gives it much light
About how long will it last
What happens when the Kevlar twine burns
GeorgieC1rock It is the same principle as a candle wick so long as there is enough fuel saturating the twine it wont burn the twine itself.
GeorgieC1rock then it falls off.
It burns
How long do they last? 5 seconds or 5 years? do you have any idea?
90% of you are pyros
You are right. Lol
How long for a full burn?
What fuel we can use if camp fuel not found ?
So Cool!
How l
many minutes does this torch stay lit?
Where can I get the Kevlar?
How long does the kevlar burn before deteriorating?
rizzelet it's magic, it never burns.
The twine will burn off and it'll unravel, you gotta use wire
def use some kind of fine mesh chicken wire,,plus it looks cooler and like the real thing
91 percent rubbing alcohol works good on torches and is probably cheaper.
Hi can you please tell me what kind of the fabric you use for the torch?
Bing Zhu ceramic cloth
Does anyone know where to get kevlar in Australia?
just use lithium strips from a battery and all you have to do is spray some water on it and it ignites instantly. if the moisture in the air or from your hands don't cause it to do so prematurely.
Can kerosene be used?
So where does one get kevlar cloth and twine at?
Attqetest TonyChris Kinkos
I saw the torch and the white shirt with symbol on it and I thought he was a klansman.
So I use a metal pipe not aluminium and duck tape to hold the sock in place thank u for ur help fixing make a horror movie fleas get attack by torch thanks buddy
vero cisneros isn't aluminum metal?
Can you link where to buy the various parts?
Go to any hardware store. Common sense
They totally had kevlar in medieval times.
How long does it stay litten
This is the most important question lol
About 8,4 years.
1:08 steel is better in heat transfer? Aluminum is used to make heatsinks =\

I tree resin or beeswax instead of camping fuel
How long do these burn?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE SONG IS AT THE EnD WHEN TESTING!
Tecato Fugue in D Monor
Cool!
im going to have the best torch at the next rally
Can you reuse it?
does that drill have a light on it because that is awesome
Ethan Lexa I'm pretty sure most do
Show how in wood?
That hair is so golden you could pass as a Lannister.
I knooow this is an old video but, why not use wood and aluminium at the top instead?
I am from India and my question is where to get this campaign fuel...I just don't know???

Aluminium doesn't transfer heat, but steal does, huh?
"aluminum dosent transfer heat"

i saw a kid do this with a sock, this is way to much stuff just to make a torch lol
At the end it would have been better to be in darkness and light it instead of the cut.
Bro your fucking portal hoodie❤️
Great. Now you got torch.. and advent a dungeon with only torch..
What could go wrong?
(Remember 'goblin slayer' ??)
err aluminium transfers heat much faster than steel
Um aluminum transfers heat much faster than steel fyi 🙄
Epic vedio but maybe stay away from the fully white attire with a torch. It may give some folk the wrong impression.
Let’s be real though… those only burn about five minutes, yeah?
Aluminium transfers heat a lot faster than steel. Just sayin'
let me go to my local walmart for the kevlar...
HTC148 you don't have any just laying around? I had plenty left over from making my curtains..
All those nitwits at Charlottesville carrying tiki torches could have saved their money and made their own
It won't take but a minute max for that string to burn off and the whole thing unrolls itself, big fire hazard right there
foerVer in reVerse that's why he said not to do it..
It looks like a marshmallow
I dont think it looks real. I saw a kid in here make one with a broom sticks and a pair of socks that looked more authentic. As long as your not an idiot, it was safe. Any flame is going to be a hazard if you arent careful. So it might as well look cool.

Thumbnail made me think you were kkk for a sec
Metal pole your holding leave a scar? Lol
Lol so aluminum transfers more heat than steel does.... So don't used aluminum
But aluminum loses that heat just as fast. an iron pipe would be like a cast iron skillet and hold on to the heat. although he explained it wrong/bad
Aloominum? Aloominum? Ohhh... you mean aluminium! I don't think the medieval residents had access to battery powered drills, screws or hacksaws though!
Nah imma make a long spear/torch 2 in one just in case any mountain big cat decided to ATk me during camping. This is useful too but not for me .
