I've lost mine also but mine never listened to evanescence but I always have (I'm 30) and my kids like too. But main/ lesson is unless she told you specifically what a song meant to her, don't waste time trying to figure out the exact answer, or trying to feel what pain she felt etc. Just be happy you can take comfort in something she did, but for your own reasons. Idk if you would or have but I spent literal years doing just that and I shouldn't have. We are in charge of our own happiness or at least contentment. Turning pain into art or life lessons for ourselves and others or just feeling less alone is nice. Idk sorry for rambling. No one ever told me till I found out hard way that time does not heal wounds. But we make it through. Even if we're falling forever.

    SONG LYRICS :D
Now I will tell you what I've done for you
    Fifty thousand tears I've cried
Screaming deceiving and bleeding for you
And you still won't hear me
Don't want your hand this time I'll save myself
Maybe I'll wake up for once
Not tormented daily defeated by you
Just when I thought I'd reached the bottom
    I'm dying again
    I'm going under, (going under)
Drowning in you, (drowning in you)
    I'm falling forever, (falling forever)
I've got to break through, I'm going under
Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies
    So I don't know what's real and what's not
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore
    I'm dying again
    I'm going under, (going under)
Drowning in you, (drowning in you)
    I'm falling forever, (falling forever)
I've got to break through, I'm
    So go on and scream
Scream at me I'm so far away
    I won't be broken again

Evanescence is one of those bands that just completely transcended the entire genre of numetal and rock as a whole. They were always sort of left out of the conversation of important rock bands of the 2000s at the time. They were so commercially successful and validated by such a wide audience so fast that they were written off as not a real or serious metal band. I dunno, they just nailed it right out the gate, so aesthetically and sonically well defined. What a band, what a voice, what a song.

This song still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it especially with the video! The symbolism of the people around her and even her bandmates turning into demons really gets me and how when she jumps into the crowd and it turns to water with stinging jellyfish all around, Wow! Its hard to trust anybody these days

Now I will tell you what I've done for you
    50 thousand tears I've cried
Screaming deceiving and bleeding for you
and you still won't hear me
Don't want your hand this time I'll save myself
Maybe I'll wake up for once
Not tormented daily defeated by you
Just when I thought I'd reached the bottom
    I'm dying again
    I'm going under
    Drowning in you
    I'm falling forever
    I've got to break through
    I'm going under
Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies
    so I don't know what's real and what's not
always confusing the thoughts in my head
so I can't trust myself anymore
    I'm dying again
    I'm going under
    Drowning in you
    I'm falling forever
    I've got to break through
    So go on and scream
Scream at me I"m so far away
    I won't be broken again
I've got to breathe I can't keep going under.

Abdi Alshakuur it was more simple. No social media, cell phones and computers were at their early stages. We waited for the latest songs on TRL. Still used CDs, games boys, encyclopedias. Rock was still a genre and my fave. I grew up in NYC, if it gives you a better idea.
