From a certain point of view, the prophecy wouldn't have been fulfilled if Luke didn't convince Anakin to return to the light. He was chosen for that task.

I remember thinking Luke was the chosen one as well, succeeding nearly everywhere his father failed, and eventually with time I came back to realize Anakin was always the chosen one. But I’ve come to see them both as chosen ones, it was Anakin’s destiny to bring balance to the force and it was Luke’s destiny to maintain that balance. Great video as always man! I have not personally read the ancient Jedi textsesss, but I always thought all it said was Skywalker would bring balance 🤷♂️ it seems like even leia fits that description with her political career. But idk I never really gave it too much thought before now.
Perhaps after Anakin's fall, the force choose Luke to become the new chosen one to complete the prophecy his father failed. Except unexpectedly Anakin to get redeemed by Luke and compete it. If you follow Legends and how powerful Luke becomes it kinda makes sense from a certain point of view.
It was Luke's job to redeem Anakin (if possible,) failing that to destroy the sith and maintain the balance with forming the new order that was meant to be how the Jedi were supposed to be, returning them to their origins,. Anakin's role was to destroy the Sith by killing Vader within himself and old Palpy. There was no guarantee that Anakin would return. Perhaps Luke was the backup chosen one. Food for thought.

I heard in the original script of Star Wars Sequel Trilogy by George Lucas that "The chosen One wasn't Anakin but it was Leia"
Yeah many believe Luke was the chosen one but no George confirmed it was always meant to be Anakin though Luke was the one who brought Anakin back Vader was the one who brought the force back into balance by destroying the Sith, I mean if Luke tossed his Lightsaber to Vader and then Vader cut Palpatine in half would Luke get the credit for destroying him or Anakin? Obviously Anakin would.

I think anikan was the balance for the dark when the light was strong, and Luke was the balance for the light when the dark was strong.
When you realize how manipulative Yoda and OB1 were with Luke, they trained him to be a Sith.
There's something of the Jedi in the prophecy of the chosen one; they only want to believe it, if it means balance is the eradication of the Sith. That the Force is only of the light, without darkness. Kenobi's final words to Anakin/Vader on Mustafar was "You were the chosen one! It was said that you would *destroy* the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!"
Kenobi can't see balance; he had no idea if Luke was the 'chosen one.' Qui-Gon's advice to Kenobi rings true: “Do not center on your anxieties, Obi-Wan. Keep your concentration here and now, where it belongs.” Obi-Wan: “But Master Yoda says I should be mindful of the future.” Qui-Gon: “But not at the expense of the moment." Kenobi frets of the future will lead to his 'certain point of view.' A huge caveat in how he perceives balance and the prophecy. Qui-Gon was more grey, neither light or dark, like the Bendu.

If only Obi-Wan and Yoda remembered the roots of being a Jedi and didn't instantly treat every Dark Sider like an enemy. They forgot being on the side of life means caring for the lives of your enemies as well. PS: the Jedi misread TF out of that prophecy.
I always believed Luke was the chosen one since he defeated Vader and brought Anakin back who in turn killed The Emporer.

Anakin is his generations chosen one.
The skywalker twins are the next generations chosen one. One to bring balance to the force and one to preserve it. As for grogu he is also a chosen one his role is to perpetuate the balance of the force into the future.
Not sure about Grogu being much of anything to be honest. Word of God states that all the events of the new trilogy still happen and Grogu is either dead or missing by then

U doubt you read these, but what is your take on this.
When Anakin was born there were only 2 sith as where the Jedi let the Republic rule the galaxy under their direction and protection.
The Jedi were very numerous, so in destroying the Jedi Anakin did bring balance to the universe.
PERSONALLY, I don't agree with that. Because the Jedi did not tip the Force out of balance, the Sith did. So the number of Jedi should have nothing to do with balance. However, there are some books that talk about that possibility. For example, in the book "Secrets of the Sith," Palpatine says that he believes Anakin restored balance to the Force when he destroyed the Jedi.
They're both the chosen one. Each one of them is the chosen one for their own respective generations.
