This ruling empowers the General Assembly to vote on and pass sanctions on Israel, which the US cannot veto. Based on this ruling movements like BDS would become legal or difficult to challenge. This ruling also empowers globally acting NGOs like Oxfam, Amnesty Intl., Human Rights Watch, Doctors without Borders, etc. to initiate legal actions against states that support Israel despite the Court's ruling.

Most people do not understand international law. The ICJ is making a judgement based on laws that don't exist. This is political, not law.
Our human rights lawyer PM is curiously quiet about this.
Personally I expect Starmer and his government to make a statement on this on Monday and to support sanctions against Israel with immediate effect. Putting a stop on arms and parts for arms sales immediately. It should have been carried out by the previous government and certainly by Starmer before now.

Joan Donoghue of the ICJ….. So the court decided that the Palestinians had a plausible right to be protected from genocide and that South Africa had the right to present that claim in the court…..

As part of his role, a Prime Minister is expected to not only play a crucial role in proposing laws and policies but also to communicate these decisions effectively to the public. His silence on the order issued by the International Court of Justice, the world's highest court, which influences the foreign policies of every country, is a clear demonstration of double standards.
