Mein Gott, was für eine Gilda. Endlich mal kein Gezwitscher, sondern eine Stimme so rund und golden strömend! Eine Klasse für sich! Danke!

She is absolutely brilliant. But was it flu season in Bilboa goodness all that coughing from the audience. So disturbing. 🤧🤧🤧

Apart from "E strano...Ah, forse lui...Sempre libera" on the Belcanto-album, she never sang anything from La Traviata.
In her book it says, that she got too emotional when singing that music and would never have been able to sing it without choking up...

Deutekom is like flowing crystal in this aria. I worked with Eva Likova in the late 80s early 90s. She was Czechoslovakian lyric soprano who sang with the Chicago and San Francisco companies (sang with Walter Weede a lot). Likova had similar brightness when singing Caro Nome, but not so large a voice I think.

Dutekom is brilliant. The tenor is brilliant as well. He does simplify some of the ornaments but otherwise a brilliant voice

How did this end up her? I believe that comment was regarding a duet from Rossini's Armida

Yes. It was unfortunate that her prime years overlapped Sutherland, Sills, and Caballe. With those three contracted to the three major recording labels at that time, very few others, even one as fine as Deutekom, never got contracts. Note that she was also quite a good actress in live performance. I saw her Norma at the Lyric in Chicago and she captured the character very well.

Merci pour ce grand bijou que vous nous faites. J'ai été très ému car je n'ai pas de Rigoletto chanté par Deutekom. Vous êtes une merveille. Est-ce qu'il existe des enregistrements de Deutekom avant 1968? Merci mille fois.
