      Quick question as you were born and grew up in the UK. How did you find the distance of places like say from mine towhere you grew up is 200 miles not what I would call close by😂 but in America that's like your nextdoor neighbour I've heard some say. And cilla black 😂 I remember Bob carolgees and SPIT THE DOG I used to watch surprise surprise with my Gran. And metal mickey. For crying out loud 😂😂 like seeing emu and GROTBAGS. Watched Dr who special last night and 😭😭 David Tennant and Cathy were good but the episode was full with political stuff. Entertainment is entertainment not for political agenda. Willow series was another ruined . Ronald Dahl books been edited so how long before they try put it in retro or decide games of the past we're not woke enough. ? Anyway just a side note, take it easy fella. Good video as usual

      @@theatheisthammer Good question about distance. I was amazed to learn California is bigger than Britain 🤯 London does now feel like it's small, but the traffic always made it feel like things were a long "time" away. But realising that Scotland was a 4 hour drive puts it in perspective. Same as nipping to Vegas for the day!

    The Cavern in Liverpool today is not the Cavern that the beatles played in, that was knocked down and the cellar filled in. It moved up the street a little bit and bricks from the old cavern were used to remodel the new Cavern. Many of those bricks have many, many artists names that played at the Cavern etched into them. Fun fact Cilla was a coat attendant at the club and the Beatles pushed to get her a record contract.

    That was an interesting observation right at the end about digital media. Personally I've never liked the idea of not owning a physical copy of something so have stuck to dvds for my films.
    I've also now gone back to cds for my music at home and cassettes for my music on the go.
    Funny thing about the music was it was prompted by the fact I wanted to listen to music while at the gym, I hadn't listened to any music for quite a while so was shocked to discover iTunes no longer existed, so that was my ipod defunct, then I looked at streaming music but that was too complicated and expensive for a casual listener like me, then I had an epiphany, I had stored away an amp, cd player and tape deck, dug them out, bought a cheap Bluetooth cassette player on amazon and some blank cassettes and boom portable music with no complications or subscriptions! Sometimes the old ways are the best!

    • @BilisNegra
      @BilisNegra 5 місяців тому

      Yes, but... You could buy pretty decent-sounding personal stereos by major brands back in the day, and fine blanks from TDK, Sony, and the like. Today's novelty cassette players are junk comparable to the cheapest players of the past with lots of hiss, motor rumble, and wow and flutter. Fun to use a couple of times, but not the answer. Quite better to buy dirt cheap CDs and rip them to .MP3 or some other file format.

    • @graham9975
      @graham9975 5 місяців тому

      @@BilisNegra I'm finding the audio perfectly acceptable, not perfect but for on the go it's ok. I have CDs that I use in my home set up. I don't want to digitally copy them to an MP3 player for several reasons, 1) I only have a tablet so no CD drive, 2) I don't want the hassle of trying to find a workaround as I only have a tablet 3) I don't particularly like the sound quality of digital (to clinical and not warm enough) 4) Im just sick of digital 'solutions' that are supposed to be progress but seem to be anything but.
      Each to their own but I will be sticking to audio cassette's as for me they provide the best solution 😊

    Hey man, I've had a concern and thought you were the right person to ask about this. So recently I bought this old second-hand CRT radio television, one of the compact, smaller ones. Do you think there are any risks of exposure to poisonous lead or ionizing radiation? Thank ya, stay safe.

    • @RetroRecipes
      @RetroRecipes  6 місяців тому +4

      If you wash your hands after handling it the lead in old solder joints shouldn't be an issue. Most lead poisoning happens when people touch their mouths with their hands after handling it. It doesn't absorb much if at all through the skin. As for radiation, that'll be very minimal. Check out my video of how to discharge a CRT though. #IamNotAnExpert
