Jason did an exceptional job navigating this interview, knowing when to push pressure points and when not to take it further. This was such a good listen!
I think he has an honest respect for her. But also, he met his match. He can’t outsmart her and she will also return the smoke.

Caribbean’s are very proud of our heritage and we have a strong sense of self this often makes people uncomfortable and is perceived as arrogance but it is not it’s simply fighting for who we are and not who we are told or programmed to be. Nice interview.
Amanda Seales is a hard person to follow bc she IS so authentic. She brings a plethora of issues to the forefront that sometimes I’m not ready or willing to be in the space I need to be in to honor the issue and give it authentic thought. Self-love and improvement are important to me, so I do go there with her. I also don’t agree with every stance she takes, but she’s so important to me bc she helps me face issues, think more freely, understand my own thought processes better. Love what she’s bringing bc it always feels intentional and as she’s explained, high purpose behind it!

Well said. I like Amanda but she can be too much sometimes but I still like a lot of aspects about her and I think she’s important for the culture. I never like to see people completely trashing her because at the end of the day she’s blackity black, black and not afraid to stand on it when necessary.
I truly look up to Amanda. It’s hard to be mischaracterized, misjudged or misunderstood but she stays intelligent, strong, beautiful, tenacious and resilient. Never change!!! When you’re a threat, truth teller or a strong, black woman, you’re always a target.

I totally get Amanda and her connection to her roots. The doll example about her mom was the reason I always bought my daughter black dolls. I bought every shade too and threw away any white dolls gifted to her.

I absolutely am infatuated with how well spoken and educated Amanda. I LOVE listening to her. I love the brutal honesty and her ability to take a topic, address the issue, explain the facts vs the opinions, make it all make sense and then add a joke to lighten the honesty whipping she just slapped your ass with is pure SKILL! I just discovered Smart, Funny, and Black about a month ago. I wathched it with my 14 year old daughter. Da Brat and Ms. TJ Madison and I loved it. I'm not very familiar with him but have been watching the episodes and one thing I know for sure, to be able to keep up banter with THE Amanda Seales you have to be highly intelligent and abreast of what is going on in the world!

This interview really gave me a chance to see and hear Amanda and I love that and her . Jason navigated this really well and asked perfect questions . Also I can really appreciate, especially as a black woman, the acknowledgment and stances against the injustices in society for us. As a woman from Jackson, MS i can whole heartedly agree on the separate judicial system they have now created which no one sees as a problem except the people of Jackson .

Thank you Amanda. I worked at Disney in a Musical, at California Adventure and a cast mate came right up to me and said I was there because I was Black. She knew nothing about my resume and Nat'l Tour /Regional theatre experience. Worst of all she was a minority. She saw nothing wrong with that and probably still doesn't.. Bump her.. She knows who she is. Go on Amanda! You keep doing what you do!! Thank you Jason! Oh and She was in her twenties and I was well into my 40's.. Grown Ass Adults! They year was approx. 2006..
