There is just something about a glass butter dish! I remember my grandma had a glass with SPOONS in it, on the table. I never knew why the spoons were so special and didn't go along with the knife and fork!😅 Your videos bring up fond memories of days long ago.😊

Lots of interesting variety, as usual. Another week has gone by and it looks like we are in for a lot of heat. Blessings on your weekend and stay cool!!! 🐝🐝🐝🌺🌺🌺

The Carl Schneider are spill vases. They were placed on the mantle and used to hold "spills." A true "spill" is a specialized wood shaving given its name from the way it "spills" from the wood plane that produces it. These "spills" were usually pine or cedar. People also used other types of wood splints, twisted paper, and wax tapers and these were used before matches to transfer flame from the fire in the hearth to light candles, lamps, pipes, stoves, etc.....spills continued to be used for a time even after the invention of matches because of their expense and the common people could not afford them. Spill vases like the Carl Schneider usually came in pairs and they are flat and undecorated on the back because they would sit on the mantle so no one would see the back. The first spill vases were made of glass and then eventually they were made of wood, iron, earthenware, and even fancy folded wall paper.
