I think, rather than talking about European players deserving a chance in the NBA, people need to realise that not everybody wants to play in the NBA.
The Euroleague is every bit as competitive as the NBA, has great fans and is ultimately just a very different and pure style of basketball. Some people prefer the game of European basketball to the NBA. Me, for one.
Just tired of hearing every time there is a great European player that they need an NBA contract…
Euroleague is a good league. But it's not as Competitive as the NBA that's why player that don't make it in the NBA go to the Euroleague and have long Careers there.
@@georgevarden1291 It's simply different. The level of talent/ physique in the NBA is exceptional but it's not more competitive, SR is a joke and even the PO first rounds have become dull. If the only moment tou feel real competition start at the conf finals it's kind of funny to talk about how competitive this league is...
Not all NBA players/ prospects are a fit in the Euroleague. If you have no brain but brawn you can play the NBA and have a long career and even a central role but Euro is kinda different. Players like Hines or Exxum ended up great, others like Mudiay not so much. Usually those who have long careers coming off the usa are those who stayed four years in college and actually know how to play proper basketball but are less physically gifted.
If he was 23 and putting up these numbers then I think they would take him. At 28 I doubt it. It is there loss and our gain. And I was able to see him play 2017 v CSKA and he looked v good then.
Still not bad a chance to realize the nba dream. Malcolm Delaney got his opportunity as a bench PG/SG role. It’s unrealistic to say he’d make a huge impact but at least reasonable to believe he can play a solid role.
He's not going to get minutes in the NBA. We've seen what happened to Sarunas Jasikevicius, Vassilis Spanoulis, Milos Teodosic, Marcelo Huertas, for example when they moved to the NBA. They got limited minutes, and limited production. Then they move back. I don't see a system or a coach in the NBA that will let Vasilije Micic do his thing.

Memphis gave Juan Carlos playing time and he had some production. He just chose to leave for Barcelona. Why bring Curry’s name into this? Yes part of his game he takes from Navarro not all of it.

Could he? Sure. I don't want him to though, the NBA has more money but Euroleague, Eurocup, Basketball Champions League and all of the major European domestic leagues are much more enjoyable. The NBA is sports-entertainment, they don't defend, they don't believe in teamwork. It's just people obsessed with stat padding and a league obsessed with advertising.
In a world of meritocracy the Euroleague would be like the UCL, the peak of the sport as it is played the way it should be, rather than played to benefit gamblers and advertisers.
NBA teams make money with the league itself while playing, EL teams pay to play in the league. Economically the EL has alot to learn from the NBAit if it wants to be stable. On the other hand the cultures are way different, americans are used to all that mass advertisment, sponsorship etc, America has always been like that, take a look at american TV for example. Im not saying that both don't have their own charm nor that an NBA Europe would work (the whole idea makes me vomit) but it's good to give credit where it's due

Also you've missed my point, the NBA doesn't play basketball. They play NBA, a silly variation where they've stripped all the components of a team sport in favour of highlights reels. I watched Nets v Lakers the other day, multiple times players lobbed up 3s with no one even bothering to defend them just stand and watch the ball. It's pathetic.

@@strahinjastevic7480 there are huge expenses in every professional sport. The NBA teams pay for licences as well, that's why American sports teams regularly move cities and change names. All closed leagues make teams pay a licence.

If he were to go to the NBA, this year might be the best time for him. Every NBA team today has European players, they believe in them. Outside shooting (and P&R) has never been this important. And there are teams, where he can shine: Bucks, Heat, Spurs, Knicks, Utah, Houston, even Lakers. He'll have to sit down and play fewer minutes, but he'll be deadly efficient. That said, if I were him, I wouldn't go to Oklahoma.

I’m afraid his role on the thunder might be too limited since we already have SGA, Giddey, Jdub and Cason Wallace who are all in need of significant minutes in order to maximize their potential. Hopefully coach D finds a way to work him into the rotataion. I guess if any team could make it work it would be okc since we literally played a 4 guard lineup for significant portions of last season.
Giddey and Jdub will be a forward, Cason will be rotating with Dort, and Macic will be rotating with SGA

The streaky shooting and lack of foot speed is troubling. His pick and roll game is NBA quality,but just like Luka found out in the playoffs, teams will attack you defensively. Nash and KD would love a guy like this running the offense ,instead of Kyrie, but they're so bad defensively , it wouldn't help.

That coach, yelling at him, with eyes popping out of his head, is off the wall. Do that in the NBA and the player is likely to show you the arena upside down. As far as Micic, he's just average here in the US. Euro players are not as popular anymore as their game is proving too soft for the NBA with low athletic skills. NBA players now can hit the 3ball and Euro's are no longer needed for this. That just leaves athleticism and we all know, white man can't jump. So basically we don't need them anymore, unless they are special-special.
