I'm in Australia and a comeback rider after 20 years. And the numb hands issue has hit me too.
So I've practiced the technique of locking my knees tighter onto the tank and softening my hand grip.
Wow what a difference. The numbness has mostly disappeared and I feel more in control. Its even helped with riding control in strong winds.
So to all those who are getting hand numbness certainly check how tight your gloves are but also try and practice the knees lock to your tank method - especially at highway speeds - and experience a whole new level of controlled riding without annoying numbness. Cheers.

Evert biker must do their own journey and find out what glove or glove combo works for you. Same for everything else in life.

Greg, Yes, life is a "Journey", and we all must choose our own path, wise words indeed. I hope your "Journey" has been filled with much joy. :)

Yes, I've noticed this , and it was some 30 yrs since I've been riding.. back in '85, sold my '81 Honda CX500C, and in '15 bought my beautiful Honda CB900C,, and noticed that , wow my hands become "tingly" after riding not so far. It's still this way, some 6 yrs later.

No doubt. Some bikes have more vibration in the grips.

Great info. I always thought it has something to do with the bike or more specifically the handlebar as the same gloves when I ride my Goldwing my hands are fine but GSA makes my hand numb. I think holding the grip tight is another reason. Ride safe!

Thank you. Yes, some bike are worse than others with the vibration in the grips.

@@JeffMarcum On my 05 I always wear gloves, but just leather with no extra padding, and vibration through my handle bars has never been an issue at all, just as I am sure it is the same on the 2nd Gen. I have a very special item Yama gave me when they came to my house to talk with me about the 2nd Gen Max and what I desired on it, I would like to give one of the items to you. If you message me via face book or via my email with your address I will send one to you. :)

@@Jay_Hall Hey Jay, it sounds cool. I’ll send you an email. Thank you. Just curious, what year did Yamaha seek your input? Also, did they say how many VMAX owners they were contacting?

Tight gloves, gripping bars too hard, lever angle are the main things that contributed to my tingles. Vfr800fi. Australian rider here too

Foam grips that slide over existing grips have done well for me in the past.

Thanks Jay. My mom doesn’t watch my channel. She watched one video and was bored with it. 🤣 My father would have probably liked it, but he passed in 2007.
