- Big swells equal awesome finds while metal detecting the beach. Brad, Dave, Mike and myself detect an area where the train tracks had shifted during a recent large swell caused by Hurricane Kay. We all found silver and enjoyed a day on a beautiful beach. I treasure hunt with a Minelab Equinox 800 with the 15" coil.

My Son loved metal detecting and loved watching your videos. I lost him last week to a catastrophic stroke, he had kidney disease and couldn't get out like he wanted to. He was only 21, and we would have loved to hunt a beach together. Thanks for sharing your passion with us. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery, and a speedy recovery.

I hope my vacation to Florida this fall has a storm while I'm there. 😅
Not all storms are good, large swells coming from certain directions are what you need to know. Some will remove sand and good targets and others will push items up onto the beach.

My guess is a corroded penny, or not so corroded penny, but a penny nonetheless. Take care on the surgery. Will be headed out Friday morning with the Garrett no less to the beach. Havnt used it since purchasing the Minelab so thought I take it out and stay familiar with it. Hopefully will find stuff more than bottle caps and pull tabs.
