- The famous 14 Stations of the Via Dolorosa in the Old City of Jerusalem is probably not based on fact, but on Crusader wishful thinking. Join me as I take you on a virtual tour of the "real" Via Dolorosa.

Very interesting Yakov I'm learning a lot from you as an archaeologist and also Danny the digger videos it's so hard to know exactly thank you very much for sharing looking forward to watching the rest of your videos wishing you the best of everything
Great to see the actual place. Thank you Mr Firsel for this excellent video.
You're very welcome, David.
This make perfect sense from both an archaeological and historical perspective. Other than the church of the holy sepulcher, the crusaders had no idea where the original sites existed 2000 years ago. Unfortunately, for economic, religious, and cultural reasons, the archaeology will be ignored, and both tourists and pilgrims will be shown the wrong place.
Thank you, Giovanni.
Jacob, what do you think of Pontius Pilate and Jesus by Joel Kramer and Pontius Pilate's Pavement by Frank Popolano? Both deal with evidence outside the city wall just opposite Herod's/Pilate's Palace.
Hi Frank. Not familiar with Mr. Kramer. Remains of Herod's Palace have been found next to the present Turkish walls near Jaffa Gate. It very well might be that some of the palace was outside that wall, but most of it was inside today's wall.
When I visited Jerusalem 25 years ago and went to Vía Dolorosa stations for turist people, all Jerusalem citizens knows and says that the real way that Jesus walked was several meter under the actual way. So, it was very disapointed to know the truth. It's very important to see the arqueological places that show the truth in this video. Thanks for show us those places.
The Roman pavement is several feet below today's pavement, but the Roman's paved the streets about 100 years after Jesus' crucifixion.
Incredibly interesting thank you very much for this information
on a biblical archaeology tour my guide said the real via dolorosa is north of the current one. I think it was st. ann's the first stop..where there was a church with the old roman street, where you can see romans games carved into it. it's behind the back benches.
the guide made it sound like Christs path in the mount of olives was to the north too....of course that's a jewish outfit..so I can't say for sure. but they were pretty respectful of Christian theology..there's was a couple zingers but I ignored them.
Thank you kind Sir, very interesting.
You are very welcome!
God Bless you.
Thank you, brother!
Thank you for showing us the real Hebrew tombs- and the Gennath Gate where Jesus walked from PIlate and Caiaphas to Golgotha - that moves me more than all the gilded ornaments could. I wish everyone were smart enough to get vaxed and wear masks. RIP Mother, 2/8/20 trump's covid. Do we really need to be fined to do the right thing? I'm with you.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Lori.
The real Via Dolorosa maybe underneath that street 25 to 30 feet below.
