Where is the "Real" Siloam Pool? HD 1080p
The bible tells us Jesus healed the blind man at the Pool of Siloam. For years, we thought this was uncovered in 1991. Now we know the Byzantines had it right 1.600 years ago.

    it would be nice if they had clearly marked the excavated wall footings vs where reconstruction was done. I was there in 1983 when druze workers were rebuilding the walls.... we could tell mostly where the fighting was the most heated because of the number of arrow heads, catapult balls, bones and then the position of wall stones ..

    I worked on the Gamla excavation in 1982. looked much different. We found many artifacts of the war. There is Nothing like digging up a perfectly round rock ball... like small bowling balls...chipped with hammers. and iron roman arrow heads. Some of the walls you see towards the tower are reconstructed... and of course no paths or stairs. Shmarya Gutmann, the chief excavator was fascinating to work for. He always encouraged patience. I have used his words through out my life when working on important things. "Slowly, carefully and with love." The temple was almost as you see it in 1982. It was a great memory for me. Shmarya also was involved early on with Masada. I have visited there often. Thanks for your video. It is so nice to see it now that it is available to see.

    Even though people can sometimes make innocent mistakes, I really think the Israel antiquities officials embarrassed themselves with this one. There were so many indicators that this site was not the Pool of Siloam and the “Pilgrimage Road” was not a road for pilgrims at all (the older dates on coins found beneath the pavers, the pool’s distance from the Temple, the marketplace and SEWAGE(!) tunnel running below the road that would make temple-goers ritually unclean, the list goes on…). At the very least, I think there were enough reasons to give the archaeologists pause before labeling these sites too hastily. Although I do wonder if perhaps these identifications were intentionally rushed in order to gain support and approvals for these somewhat controversial archaeological digs. Regardless, for someone like myself with a keen interest in biblical archaeology, the situation is frustrating even though I am glad to see them finally change course. I visited the city of David around the time this dig started and not one person I spoke with there at that time would even entertain the idea that this site was anything other than Siloam. Anyways, just sharing my musings. Thank you for the great video. I would love to hear more updates about this dig and others in Jerusalem. Subscribed!

    Jesus did not bring his disciples to Caesarea Phillipi. He avoided all gentile cities and told his disciples to also. Mark's gospel says he and his disciples went to the villages of the area.

    This make perfect sense from both an archaeological and historical perspective. Other than the church of the holy sepulcher, the crusaders had no idea where the original sites existed 2000 years ago. Unfortunately, for economic, religious, and cultural reasons, the archaeology will be ignored, and both tourists and pilgrims will be shown the wrong place.

    Amazing that commune farmers would have the battle sense to not run and be gunned down, but shoot at it and make the occupants button down, dig in, let it roll past and attack the tracks and toss Molotovs in the back vents. Can only assume that there were some ww2 vets among them hoping to live in peace but provoked to defend.

    Just a little note that some information presented in this video isn't the most accurate. The Baha'i Faith is not an offshoot of Islam, it is an independent world religion. Baha'is believe in Progressive Revelation, that all religions come from the same unknowable source over the course of human history. The idea that God never leaves humanity alone and will send divine messengers (Jesus, Mohammad, Zoroaster, Buddha, Krishna, Abraham and many more) to guide humanity towards His will and purpose. The 'message' is always tailored to suit the spiritual maturity of humanity at the time of the revelation (hence why there are so many religions). Also, Baha'is around the world are working tirelessly to bring about the vision of Baha'u'llah - "The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens". Texts are available in every language you can think of.

    • @IsraelPrivateGuide
      @IsraelPrivateGuide 2 роки тому

      That the Baha'i faith originates in Iran, a Shi'ite country is no accident. It's interesting to me that all the Baha'i holy texts are in Farsi, Iran's mother tongue. Food for thought.
