Being raised in the 80s was actually as magical as it seems. There were so many new things happening constantly, from music to fashion to technology, it made life exciting. You could feel the hope in the world during that time. With social media being nonexistent at the time, we relied on magazines and television to see and listen to the music we loved. When MTV released their first video, it was glorious! I would come home from school everyday and sit in the living room floor doing homework and watching music videos. I’d give anything to be able to experience that type of awe again.

I was about 20 when it came out, and it was groundbreaking, both the song on it's own, as well as the rt in the video concept. Recently showed the video to my Godson 16 and Goddaughter12. They had both heard the song and liked it . It was very interesting, their reactions. They are so exposed to CGI and video games, I thought maybe they would find it inconsequential. Instead they were blown away! They've watched it again and again and been introducing it to their friends. So it's a confirmation to me that there is indeed something brilliant in both the song and the video. It's like one of those films that unexpectedly becomes even more popular than anticipated, and is woven into the very fabric of culture.

I used to wait for this video to come on at the dance hall and couldn’t take my eyes off it. It was so romantic and pure. The girl looked so fresh and innocent and the guy was gently wooing and brave against his enemies. Finally he breaks through and they unite again. Very beautiful. I never get tired of watching it on UA-cam.

A lot of the charm in this video is not only the unique & interesting animation but Morten. The way he leaned back, holding her hand, the way he was standing was so sexual! The look in their eyes. Also the artists drew them sooo well, capturing the true essence of the song & the romance. The combination of it all made it unforgettable. Also nobody really ever copied it, leaving it a one of a kind.

Who wrote and produced the live action story was brilliant. All of the right elements are there. The video even foreshadows the antagonists who enter later in the video. The story is pretty simple but so well executed. The a couple very talented artists spent a lot of months bringing to story to life drawing by drawing. It shows what brilliance can be achieved with a camera and a pencil.

OMG! Such Nostalgia!!! I remember hearing the song and loving it! The piano was so crisp, it made you want to do piano fingers every time you heard it....and then the vocal range was so fun! We would just sing along and try to hit that range every time. That was the catch from just hearing the song on the radio. When we eventually saw the video, it was even more awesome! Comic books were all the rage in the 80's. So seeing a comic video interacting with real life was super interesting. There was nothing like that in music videos. This unique, artistic video telling a cute love story in two minutes just gave of some really "feel good" vibes and it still does today! Now, learning about the artistry behind it all, and that all these drawings were actually done by hand! OMG! I have a great new level of respect for this piece of art.❤ What beautiful work!

What becomes clear watching this (and the first part) is that if "Take on me" was written today, it would be a flop, because the executives and studios would never spend so much time and money making it right. 16 weeks of animation! People today would never wait that long.

I remember it as if it was yesterday. Being a teen in the 80"s being a band as lead singer back ground Polish really ignited in me the roots of a-ha....
Being a song writer is something that's in you it's not something you put their or go buy at a pawn shop.
It's in the spirit of the person. You pretty much have to be a day dreamer because your always looking at things thru a different window of the heart. To a writer everything has a distinct purpose of thought. Sometimes you get lucky you write the inspiration of a song in 15 mins and usually it's those ones that are a hit. Because the heart really grabbed it and explodes off to speaking thoughts so fast that after you sit there and think.....wow I wrote that!!
It's a crazy thing music it's like any other thing in life. It's a season and you have your moment and it could last 5 yrs 10 yrs of great music but then one day it just stops. I mean you can still write but as a band or artist that moment of greatness is done the season is up. And then your touring playing ur songs until you die.
It's really hard to see a band duplicate or artist that moment of greatness again with that intense energy.
Take On Me.... When I first heard it the thing that grabbed me most was his voice. The song it self was of course great in sound and style but what really brought everything together was not the music by it self it was the video. From a song writer/ dreamer... I was captivated memorized and to be honest as they spoke in the video.... They were afraid the song would be lost. But what saved the song was that video.
That video brought the whole song alive a 150% with the vocals and great sounding Melody riffs.
I'll always remember this song and those young teen days. I remember the 80"s it was a great era being called New Wave.... Like so many British bands were just coming out like tsunami"s it's was crazy. Song after song. I mean Take On Me was so awesome. Then another band that blew me away was A Flock of Seagals... I mean when I heard "I Ran" and the syns it was like Wow. One of my most two fav bands of the 80"s. God Bless you all for making a great song all coming together create a awesome dream that will last forever. Dreams Never Die Just The Dreamer.....

Rachael wrote "His style, his features...and, hes very much the same all these years later"
She referred to his facial features and his overall "style" She said they were "very much" the same.
Yes, he is recognisable as his younger self so "his features", check.
His style or mannerisms appear to Rachael to be similar so a tick there.
It was you who referred to "beautiful" not Rachael.

      Rotoscope was invented in 1915
The rotoscope technique was invented by animator Max Fleischer in 1915, and used in his groundbreaking Out of the Inkwell animated series (1918-1927). It was known simply as the "Fleischer Process" on the early screen credits, and was essentially exclusive to Fleischer for several years. The live-movie reference for the character, later known as Koko the Clown, was performed by his brother (Dave Fleischer) dressed in a clown costume.[5]
